great but hard to full
I bought this in Dec-05, and just used it for the 1st time.. This is great, but I find it hard to fill. When your pouring your batter in, you better not take your eyes off it for a second , or you will have the batter all over. Or is there sometype of trick to this? Although I use to make a mess taking a large spoon to put my pancake batter onto a large double griddle. This puts it were it belongs, no mess once you get the batter in this... The little cup this fits into works great... I do wish they would have made this larger though. I payed $22.99, and I would buy it again

It is a good idea that can use some improvement
This was purchased as a gift and I watched its first use without any comment to the use. I observed three things: 1) Adding batter to the dispenser is messy because of the small-ish opening at the top and the supporting hardware that blocks the hole. Maybe a flared design would be better to get batter into the opening. 2) Following the recipe on a popular box of mix, the batter was too thick. You need to use a thin, easy flowing batter with the dispenser. 3) Due to 1) and 2), clean-up was a chore. There was batter stuck in the tight areas in the supporting hardware at top so you need to practically submerge the whole device in water to loosen the caked-on batter. This is very wasteful of water. My thoughts are that these comments are going to be universally true for all of these types of devices. I am pleased with the dispenser as it lets the children help with making pancakes and reduces the mess associated (those with kids know what I mean). There are just some caveats to using and cleaning the device; use a thinner batter and clean with lots of water and a narrow brush.

Great for 1 or 2
Found this to be just the right size for one or two people. Using a Pyrex measuring cup to mix the batter in, then pour into the dispenser works for me. This little gadget keeps me from making a big mess while cooking pancakes which is enough to justify buying it.

Stainless Steel Pancake Dispenser
This item is very good for the price. However I would have liked the feature of "metering" out the product so the pancakes would all be the same size. You have to guess when to let go of the valve to attempt to achieve this. Otherwise its great.

Very poorly designed
It may not be clear from the photo, but this batter dispenser is comprised of two pieces: the dispenser, and a cup-shaped base to catch drips. You need to lift the dispenser up out of the base to dispense batter. Problem is, you can't use the dispenser without the base (it won't stand up on its own), yet the dispenser sticks to the base nearly every time you use it. This means that you need two hands to use the dispenser - one to hold the base down, and the other to un-wedge the dispenser (hopefully without getting batter everywhere). And that's when it's clean; the problem is much worse once you get batter on the lip of the base. I hate using this thing for this reason. Other than the awful base, the dispenser itself isn't great. It's virtually impossible to get a consistent deposit of batter; even with practice, sometimes I get a lot of batter and sometimes I get just a little. I bought it for making crepes, but the thin crepe batter just rushes out the hole. The flow of batter is limited by how far I open the valve, and how long I keep it open, but there are no stops or adjustments, so it's just guesswork to get the correct amount each time. The dispenser is also way too small; I get only 4 or maybe 5 pancakes before I have to refill. And refilling is messy and cumbersome, mostly because of the small opening on top. On the plus side, it's all stainless steel (no nasty plastic) and is totally dishwasher safe. In short, the poor design really makes this product unpleasant to use.

No mess No fuss!
What a great little gadget! Once my pancake batter is mixed, I simply pour some into the pancake dispenser and dispense it onto the hot griddle. No messy drips and cleanup is quick because I give it a good rince and toss it upsidedown into the dishwasher! Only thing I would change would be to make it a bit bigger.

Good but not great
The pancake dispenser is a good, solidly made product. It puts out consistently even amounts and even has base to set the dispenser on when you're not using it. Just don't use any batter with nuts or chocolate chips, anything chunky. The opening is not large enough.
