Good Enough

While generally OK, the hole isn't quite centered in the marble so there is a little bit of wobble, and the finish isn't as polished as I would hope, though it's otherwise fine. For the price it's a perfectly acceptable rolling pin for occasional use.

Amazing Rolling Pin.

My wife is making cakes. One time I saw her straggling rolling fondant with wooden pin, so I thought: would be nice if they make some sort of marble or other heavy rolling pin. I went online and found this, bought it. When my wife saw it, she was very exited. She LOVES this pin a lot.... UPDATE 6-2-2013 After 6 month of continues use, the bushings on the inside failed (they are really thin and flimsy plastic). My friend in machine shop made me a new ones, but after some time the handles start falling off and later on it wasn't usable at all. I had to get new plastic handles, drill em thru and put 1/4 inch SS rod with threaded ends and nylon lock nuts... Guaranty for ever :-) Unless you willing to modify it, don't expect it to last for long....

Great product

I am having to buy another one of these. I had this one for 3 years and it rolled off the counter and broke in half. I wrapped it in plastic wrap to keep it going, but it time has come. This thing is very heavy so I tried another kind, but it is so squeaky and bad I can't use it so gave up and came back to this one. I do love this one except for how heavy it is. It is nearly 5 pounds and I am old so it hurts to lift it. As long as I just roll with it, it is super awesome as I don't have to put much pressure. Lifting it is the only problem. It is worth the effort, though. Great product.

awesome multi purpose tool

I got this marble pin for nothing near what it was originally intended for. I have carpal tunnel and other forearm issues that cause my arms to be stiff and painful and my muscles also knot up. Walking one day on a marble floor at some fancy schmancy hotel pool area that I'll never be able to afford again, I noted the cool temp (and slickness!) of the floors. The significant mass of the marble allows it to hold cold for a long time. I had a great thought: put the rolling pin in the fridge, and use it to 'roll' out the knots and pain in my arm. It is the best improvised physical therapy device I have ever found and really helps my discomfort a TON. Oh, it also works great with pastry and rolling out pie dough. Get one.

Easy to Use!

I lost my 25 yr old marble rolling pin because I didn't use the stand! It rolled right off the kitchen island to it's death. I absolutely HAD to replace it! I have arthritis in my hands and the marble pin does the work for me. The weight of the marble eliminates the need to push down and it rolls very well.(sometimes too well--use the stand!) I keep it in the freezer and it rolls dough beautifully, with very little flouring, even on unchilled dough. It isn't really beautiful, but it is a great tool!

Wife likes it

Had one for years my wife liked, this was a replacement for the original which one of my kids borrowed. The heaviness makes it work well for rolling out pasta.

Why is it so hard to find a quality marble rolling pin

Ok, I have reviewed other marble rolling pins in my search for one, so here's another. The rod doesn't appear to be stainless so eventually it will corrode. There are nylon bushings on each side, Amazon states under description, nylon bearings but it is a bushing. The only marble rolling pin so far that I have seen with stainless steel bearings is the Vic Firth (see my review). I ended up returning this because of defect in the marble surface. The holes on this one actually is pretty centered and there is a slight wobble. I have returned other marble rolling pins because of off centered drill hole with a large wobble you can feel in your hand when you roll. I have ordered from several "brands" hoping to find a good one but after several, I think the marble all come from the same place in Taiwan and the QC is just not there. In the end, I purchased a Nor Pro stainless steel and an Aluminum rolling pin. I have separate reviews for those. Great for rolling anything!

We bought this for a friend who tried ours during a visit to teach us a new recipe. We have owned ours for a long time and before that, I had pitched one for my mom. Being marble stays cool, dough, crust and pastries tend to not stick to the marble. The weight of the marble pin means you have to use less pressure when rolling. Since buying the one we have, my wife wouldn't give ours up for anything, she loves it!
