NOT A FLASHLIGHT REPLACEMENT

I knew exactly what i was looking for with the intended purpose of these light sticks. The price listed from this seller is on par with local retailers, perhaps a few cents more expensive. once i placed the order (of which i purchased two boxes), it was a short two day wait until they arrived. No fancy packaging here, just a box shaped like a pencil box with ten individually wrapped light sticks in side. My package arrived with obvious bends in the box, i wouldn't say crushed, perhaps "stressed". Despite the exterior however, all ten light sticks in the first box i opened to test were in perfect condition. upon removing one light stick from the box, you will immediately notice how thick and strong the foil they are individually wrapped in is. Absolutely no light or moisture is going to get into this packaging without a puncture. I was particularly interested in this feature, as i intended to keep these around for awhile prior to use. i unwrapped the first stick, which was easily accomplished thanks to the perforated edges of the foil wrapper. The stick itself is bent to activate, i believe breaking a glass tube on the inside and releasing the necessary chemicals to create this chain reaction. When bent to activate, it initially felt like i was going to break the entire stick in half, but after applying enough force, that satisfy snap occurred and the light stick sprang to life with a bright orange light in my hand. Im not sure why these light sticks are labeled as industrial grade, but do not be fooled into thinking your buying a portable torch. they are bright enough to be seen for extremely long distances, but not really bright enough to use as a source of light to do things much more than 5 or 6 inches away from the light itself. If your going to use this for safety in mind, it should fit the billet. I give one to each of my three cousins when we go trick or treating, just in case they start wandering of the sidewalk into some dark yard. Spotting a glowing orange light is much easier than spotting a 7 year old dressed up as a fireman at night. Another useful way i use these lights is to mark where we keep our trash bag while we are camping. usually placing the trash bag outside of our camp (to keep animals from getting too close), we tie one of these up with the plastic hook on top to the bag, and bingo, easy to spot your destination. I imagine you could use them perfectly well for spotting things in the dark, but they aren't what your looking for as a flashlight replacement. The plastic tubes are sturdy, they are not going to accidentally snap, the foil wrapper is well designed and perfectly suitable to protect these light sticks, and the product is fairly priced. If your not fooling yourself into thinking that these sticks will turn night into day, im sure you will be just as satisfied as i was with this purchase.

Got what I want!

Good brightnes, which is what I bought it for! Durable too, did not have to worry about it accidentally snapping and lighting up in my backpack as it tossled around. My only wish is if it were a little longer to be easier to hold. But overall I am very satisfied, especially with the price.

Last a long time

I have purchased several of these in different colors, and I have to say that I am very impressed with how long they stay lit. They are not bright, but they give off a nice enough glow to be able to see, and be seen. I bought these mainly to keep in my car to use as a sort of flare if I have a flat or something. Now, I see that they can be pretty useful in several ways. My power went out one night, and before I drug out the candles, I decided to snap a couple of these and see how they worked. It was great! I didn't even light any candles. I have a couple of small lanterns with LED bulbs in them, and these give off just about as much light, and I don't have to worry about the batteries. I lit them around 9:00 that night, and even though the power did come on later, these sticks were still glowing at 7:00 the next morning! I also thing they would be good for camping, because they have little hooks on the ends and you could hang one from the top of your tent to have some inside light that wouldn't be so bright that it kept you awake. Great product!

Count your order

This was a 30-pack however I immediately counted the Ziploc bag it came in and there were only 29 sticks. The value for the money goes down to a three because of the missing stick.

Great Product - Fairly Bright

The Military version is brighter than this Industrial version, but both are great products. I compared the six colors in both Military and Industrial, see images for more information. Overall, I did not notice a significant difference between the Military and the Industrial grade. I do like that the wrappers on the Industrial ones show the color clearly, while the Military has only the name of the color. I've found that they last the time advertised, note that the white and blue ones are rated for less time than the others, 8 hours vs. 12. (There are other models with differences in brightness/duration). The brightest ones by my measures, were the Yellow and Green ones, followed by the Orange ones. Red, Blue, and White would not be bright enough to read a map; but are good for marking things in a campsite or elsewhere. Other uses: give each child a different color so you can locate them easier, marking different hiking or skiing trails, or use different color to locate first aid/water/etc..

Bright and long lasting light source -

Bright, long lasting, safe and convenient light in a pinch, or snap - Not much to say - Cyalume has been around a long time and I've yet to have a problem with any of their products - They claim a shelf life of around 5-7 years if kept in it's foil pouch, but I have used 'expired' sticks that have been subject to all sorts of excessive abuse in the back of work trucks, toolboxes, etc and they still fire up up bright like new - The one thing I will point out is there really isn't a noticeable difference between the industrial and military grade sticks - At least I can't tell a difference in quality, just price - Also, they glow considerably longer than their maximum indicated time - Although some colors will fade faster than others - Can't beat these guys - A+ all the way -

Money Saver!

these are a mega value! The same brand and quanity at a big box store was $30! I got these for $12! 10 is more than enough to stash some in the car, a few in each go-bag for my family. So now we are ready for emergencies. We haven't had to use them yet so if there's any malfunctions, I'll update this review.

Not a fan of the orange

I find so far after 4 sticks that every one is little different from eachother, first one was pretty bright but after 5 hours got dim, second one was better and lasted 8hrs got dim after that.. The green and yellow are the best of the best, both colors last easy 12 to 18hrs and start to go dim after 12..

Ordered in error - Still a great product

I misread/clicked on the wrong item and ended up returning these as they did not supply sufficient light for what I wanted them for. Bought the correct yellow ones right after. I find the yellow ones provide a better light source for "emergency" power outages. All Cyalume products I have bought though are amazing quality, just need to think of what you want to use them for. If its a party game or just playing round these will work great. Cant go wrong with this brand and is where I always start me search for light sticks.

Watch for the expiration date

The manufacturer advertise a 5-year shelf life. The batch I got in July 2020 have the following expiration date : October 2024. So almost one year has passed since production day. So watch the expiration date when you receive your order.

Awesome glowsticks!

As the title says these glowsticks are awesome! I picked these up to pack with my 72hr. kits and "go" bag in my vehicle. I like the color and they last a long time. The next order I make will most likely be yellow or green in color. But for the price and the content and quality you get you can't go wrong.

Nice and bright

Bought these for scuba diving (for night diving), and these worked perfectly! Nice and bright, and was able to use them for a few nights (by freezing them after each use) Recommended!
