Good for the hobbyist and fun colors

The brush tip is why I bought these as a way to sorta’ replace my expensive Faber Castell artist pitt pens, and they’re not bad. The ink is different but decent for what I do as an artist/hobbyist. I think they are perfect for most applications and for all ages—although I am interested to see how the brush tips hold up.

Missing a marker

My son opened this kit up on Christmas and it was missing one marker. Everything was closed and vacuum sealed when we received it so it must be a manufacturing error.

Good beginner's brush pen for modern calligraphy.

Crayola has really upped their game with the adult coloring world. This includes the brand new brush markers coming from Crayola for all your calligraphy needs. Modern calligraphy is getting huge and these are perfectly priced for beginners and even for experts alike. Tombows are popular but Crayola is priced right as being a good beginner style marker to start off with until you're comfortable buying a more expensive brand. These markers have two tips - a brush tip and a smaller, finer brush tip. Each comes in two different colors. The brush tip is just slightly darker than it's counter end of the finer brush tip. 16 markers in all, with 32 different colors but about 16 different colors with two-toned shades of each color. I learned very quickly these are something that you have to use delicately. The brush tip is great for good thick strokes going down and soft light strokes going up but I've learned too quickly that pressing too hard on a brush tip pen will fray the tip. I would actually strongly advise using a regular Crayola or another brand marker in the fat/thin variables first and get your drills down and then once you've mastered the drills and build up your muscles in your wrist and hand to venture into these brush pens as well. Lettering is an art form and like any art form, it takes practice and technique to get it down. I definitely suggest buying these but feel comfortable with the strokes and drills of the lettering as well. I think that the experts of the lettering world will love these as a comparative marker to the other name brand markers and brush pens out there to do just as good of a job. I just wish I would have really practiced my techniques and drills before going fully into learning with these and ultimately fraying a few of the ends of the bigger brush tips. Beginner, expert, novices, all rejoice! These are some beautiful brush pens at a great affordable price to give you two shades of color to practice gradient, brush techniques, and so much more. They also come in a very nice tin box to store in. I will be getting more practice in and be sure to lighten my hand a little before purchasing again but you can bet I will be purchasing another set of these - so don't stop creating awesome things, Crayola!

Not your typical marker

These are great for creating brush strokes and fine lines. Good to use with color pencils. I did get two of the same markers in my pack and was missing one in the blue spectrum. The tin is a great holder though I removed the plastic and added pencils and sharpener to the tin for a personalized art box. I would recommend adding a fine tip black marker to this set to achieve designs similar to those in video.

Not the best pens you could buy, but lots of fun, and a great value! Read on...

These were a semi-low budget foray into buying yet more brush pens, having taken up hand lettering. These pens are plenty juicy, and let me just say, the "coordinating" colors in the bullet tips at the other end have been a load of fun to draw with!! I love to hand letter a word or phrase, and then add depth to the letters by drawing in some details with the coordinating color! It's a really neat feature of these pens that I hadn't counted on enjoying as much as I do! Another fantastic feature is the tin that the pens come in. A well-known YouTuber reviewed them and made the observation that it was a waste to store only 16 pens in the nice tin. I took that to heart, ripped out the plastic trays, and loaded it up with ALL of my supplies. Now it holds, not only Crayolas, but Mildliners, Pentels, Microns, and lots of other pens. It holds a LOT! So it's actually like getting the storage tin as a bonus! Now, I almost gave them 5 stars, but the few pen tips that have broken down already were frustrating, especially given how much I like the other features. They're inexpensive, so of course, take that into consideration. i have enjoyed them enough that I would order them again. So maybe count my review as 4.5 stars.

Good and bad

Good: The larger end of these markers is great. Great color, smooth, easy to use, and you can easily adjust the thickness of the line with the pressure. Bad: The smaller or finer end is of much less quality. The coloring experience isn't smooth and it seems to scrape little bits of the paper off. Also, the finer end is actually a different color than the large end. So you don't truly have two different sizes of the same color. I guess you have more colors, but you only have some colors in one size option and other colors in the other, which defeats the purpose of a two-ended marker.
