Very comfortable, no odor

Bought the 2 inch thick king for a mattress. I liked it so much then bought the 2 inch queen for another bed. The size fit perfectly. There was no odor and it only took several hours to get its full shape. I read all of the reviews good and bad and I think the 2 inch is probably the best option. I can see where the 4 inch would be too thick and you would sink into it too much.

Saved me from having to replace a mattress

When my mom died last summer, I traveled across the country to stay at her house and start settling her affairs. The first night I slept in her bed, I was miserable. The bed was absolutely horrible--it was hard, had uneven wear, and caused me significant pressure-point pain that woke me up throughout the night. I knew I was going to be returning to the house several times to work on it, and therefore sleeping in that bed for a total of about eight weeks. There was no way I'd be able to tolerate the discomfort. I thought about buying an inexpensive mattress, but then after much research, I found this topper. A friend unpacked it and set it on top of the bed about a week before I arrived for my next stay, so I didn't experience any of the odor or "rest time" needed for it to expand up to full size--it was ready when I arrived. So...After arriving on a late flight my next trip, I put an extra-puffy cotton mattress pad over this, made up the bed, and turned in for the night. It was absolutely heavenly! I couldn't believe I was in the same bed. This topper (and to some extent the puffy mattress pad cover used with it) converted Mom's miserable bed into a thing of delightful pillowy comfort. The difference in comfort and functionality was stunning. Since then, I've slept in that bed with this topper a total of 31 nights, and I was blissfully comfortable for every one of them. I have only another 14 nights scheduled at Mom's house, so I'll never know how this topper holds up in the long-term, but so far, it has completely transformed a bed that was otherwise unusable. It was worth every cent--which was far less than I would have paid for a whole new mattress.

Comfortable sleep with some caveats

The memory foam aspect of this topper does exactly what's intended, no argument there. My only issue with it was the cooling aspect. It certainly had the tendency to break out the night sweats .

flip over my old mattress and put this on top gives medium firmness

I have a foam mattress with 1 inch memory foam on the top, so it is too firm. So, I got this 2 inch mattress top. Now, after put it on top of my mattress, then it equivalent to 30 inches of memory foam, which is too plush for me... then I just flip over my old mattes and then add this mattress top, now it gives me the firmness I needed.

Passed out in less then 10 min

This mattress topper arrived and I immediately put it into a topper sleeve I order, made my bed and then laid in it. I remember sighing because of how comfortable it was compared to my mattress. And then passed out from 4pm until 8pm. I was thoroughly impressed. The following day after work I was sitting in bed and passed out from 3pm till 7pm. When I woke up I thought it was 7am and thought I was late for work, but I wasn't. Needless to say this mattress is what my adult self needed badly. I sleep well and wake up rested, but wishing I could jump back into bed :)

Oh! Lucid where have you been all my LIfe???

Ok, so I purchased this Lucid 3 inch topper in Cal King! Right out of the box there is a slight smell but it's a "new foam" smell nothing out of control. The item was wrapped perfectly with a mesh fabric protector (dispossable) and a nifty letter type opener so you don't have to worry about damaging your item. It was easy peasy! Just open it up, lay on floor, unroll and almost instantly my topper got to it's 3 inches. I popped my ceiling fan on to speed process although I will odbide by the recommended 48 hrs to sleep on. I hope I can make it that long cause I did lay on it briefly on the floor and was in Heaven. I literally closed my eyes for a moment and thought I was on a puffy encompassing white cloud. I swear I could hear angelic voices and see Pegasus flying around me! l'm super hopeful this will help my lower back and hip pain. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and anyone who knows about that, You know about the wide spread pains we get. Those evil little fibro elves that man each joint and take turns stabbing you with little miniature knives. Ugh! I HATE them! Lol I really appreciate the construction of this topper. The fact that it's infused with charcoal is an added antimicrobial and moisture barrier benefit. It seems awesome but only time will tell. I'm in my 30s and about 118lbs but sleep heavy. My hubby is about 175 ish and tosses every 10 min. He has horrible neck pain and lower back pain. (Too many years of playing Hockey) So, we are both looking forward to some much needed sleep therapy.There is a 3 year warranty on it so that makes me happy. I will update after a full weeks sleep. Only CON I can see this far is I wish there was a bamboo zippered cover for it. May need to purchase deep pocket sheets.This is a COMPLETELY unbiased review, purchased by me. Who genuinely is super excited about using this item. Check back for update! May 24 UPDATE: Man oh man! Did this item truly exceed my expectations. This topper has been heaven sent. It has completely overhauled my joints in a way that they actually feel less tender and sore. That lower back pain has decided to pack up an move. My fibromyalgia episodes seem less due to being more well rested. With joint pain and wide spread pain lessened I have been able to slowly start doing yoga again. I just needed my body to repair a bit first and this topper definitely helped. My kids call it the marshmallow bed and fight over who gets to nap in it lol. It does help wick away moisture. Especially when paired with bamboo sheets. I will replace after warranty is up in 3 yrs to make sure I'm receiving the best from this product. I can't rave enough. I will update again in 6m. Please don't hesitate you found the one. I will say if you are over 300lb try going up to a 4-5 inch topper for added support. Blessing for better sleep to all...

NOT a Pillow Top!!

the 3" is only mildly cushy. I would love to know how it's made of bamboo, because it seems like pure petroleum foam - YUCK. I guess it's decent for the price, but if you're looking for anything that truly aids your joints, this is NOT the thing.

Why didn't I get one of these sooner? The difference is like night and day

For over a decade I have had the same bed. I got it for free, and it served me well. It has been described as "sleeping on bricks", and I unfortunately haven't been able to afford to buy a better one in all this time, as it seemed there were always better things to drop $1k+ on. After my back issues getting worse, I finally decided to get a memory foam mat, and got this one based upon the recommendations here and on Reddit. Pros: 1. Fast delivery - came a day early 2. Very little offgassing - smell was gone in a few hours of being in a ventilated room 3. Ready to use very quickly - If you use the techniques recommended by the manufacturer to puff it out, namely stepping on compacted areas, rolling over it, etc. (I found walking on it worked best, but walk nicely, its not built for shoes or rough walking, obviously) 4-5 times after arrival and unpacking, my mat was ready to use in 8 hours! 4. Incredibly comfortable - I got the 2 inch queen, and it takes my bed from bricks to cotton, I love it. In fact it's so comfortable, I remember thinking that I'd bet the 4 inch could be used as a standalone, no additional mattresses needed 5. Does help with back pain - I'm getting to the age where its starting to be an issue. Before getting this, I always hurt pretty bad if I stayed in bed too long. Now, I can finally laze in bed for hours with little to no pain occuring Cons: 1. The manufacturers idea of "queen size" and my beds idea of "queen size" seem to be different, as this mat is 4-5 inches larger than my mattress. However this is really a non-issue for me, as the fitted sheet keeps everything in place 2. I now find it far more difficult to get out of bed in the morning (insert wry laugh here) as it's just so dang comfortable! All in all, for just over $100 this is an incredibly smart buy if you need extra support but can't afford to buy a whole new mattress set. I am only giving it 4 stars, as to get 5 I need to see it hold up to at least a full year of use. Even if it ends up lasting only for a year, for its price I would absolutely be okay with getting a new one every year. That being said, if it lasts for at least 2 years I would take my review of this item from "great" to "exceptional" Good product, good purchase, and here's hoping it has good durability as well. 1 Year Edit: Daily use, going strong. mild surface damage where limbs move often (my legs get restless), but otherwise easily able to go another year I'm sure. Changing rating from 4 to 5, very much recommend this one!

My wife loves these - has bought one for our camper bed, one for our home and one for our guest room bed. They are soft but supportive and great for side sleepers. Have helped alleviate her hip pain. No weird smell.

1+ Years After Purchase - back-pain and Mattress Topper not a Mattress

I thought I would wait a year before writing a review, because sometimes it's easy to just give a great review based on initial impressions and usually a person coming from a very bad mattress situation could think they've just arrived in heaven. That was certainly the case when I got this mattress topper. We kept our existing mattress, and figured it would be cheaper to just get a 'topper. Which it was. We left the mattress to unfold for several days while we were away on a long weekend holiday, it did take several days to fully take shape. I live with long-term back pain, due to an injury many years ago. It's always a challenge finding a mattress. We moved from overseas, and came with a great memory foam mattress but it was only a double size, so gave it to our daughter, and upgraded to a queen size bed. The mattress we got with our bed was really bad, so decided to opt for the mattress topper here. Positives: - Soft but not 'too' soft. (soft but not enough support - see negatives below) - Thickness is good, I can't feel our hard mattress underneath it. - No smell. Once it unfurled and aired out for a few days, we have no smell from manufacturing or packaging. - Fits nicely on top of the mattress, doesn't make an issue for putting sheets over it. Criticisms: - Some trapped heat (not as hot as some memory foam, but still can be warm). I would say is just 'ok' in respect of heat-trapping. - No internal support - as a back pain sufferer I just need more support built in. This is why mattress toppers, no matter how good, will not be good enough. - No edge support - I have to keep a rolled blanket or pillow by the edge of the bed, to keep from sliding off the edge. I move around and sprawl a bit, and so sleeping on one side in a shared bed, the edges are not up to keeping some of us 'movers' in place. This also makes for extra discomfort in my back - without the rolled blanket or pillows on the edge. - Soft without enough body contour support. Maybe we bought it too thick, and while I can not feel the mattress below it, the softness does not provide enough support and I find myself still using pillows and blankets to support my curves. Hope this helps anyone looking at this product. Overall, we've had it for a year, but I have woken up most days with terrible back pail still. Sadly.

Surprisingly nice

When I first got it, I was pretty skeptical. The first night sleeping on it was strange because it does in fact form around your body and I wasn't exactly sure if I liked that. I'm on day 4 of sleeping on it and actually getting real rem sleep. I'm pretty stoked on it. It's pretty comfy. A little warm, but nothing a fan and open window can't fix.
