Powerful yet compact system that has a good price point.

This shopfox was fairly compact and I was able to mount it up high and out of the way. It seems to have powerful suction even with a long hose. The noise level is not obnoxious but a steady background hum that I don't mind at all. I would recommend this unit if you are wanting to mount a system to a wall.

Packaging and Shipping???

Bought this product to add a dust collections system to my garage, in addition to running with a Thien Baffle and 40 gallon drum. The I it itself is solid, low noise and has good suction. I’m using 4” sewer line pvc with blast gates to 4” flex hose. Very little loss of suction with the exception of the tool using 2.5”. Overall the product is solid. The packaging and shipping on the other hand is horrible. See attached pictures of what it looked like opening the box. Despite saying fragile, this end up all over the box, I found it upside down and beat up when I got home from work. The product itself was bent on the inlet side, the mounting plate was bent and several chips missing from knocking around the box. Normally I would return it however; I needed it ASAP due to pending projects. Ended up using a 4” rubber coupler with some silicone to seal the inlet pipe. They should package this better knowing that the shipping companies will toss around as they see fit. If it was kept in the upright position, there would be no damage to the unit. Overall it has not impeded function so it’s tolerable. For a basic startup system and a small shop I would recommend this with a separate dust/debris collector pre motor. It is a must to avoid clogging and extend equipment life. I’ll likely upgrade the baffle to a Super Dust Deputy in the near future. Not because of an issue, strictly because you pull around 70 CFM more with the actual cyclone.

Good bang for the buck

The product works great connected to my 13" planer and 12" table saw. The one thing that puzzles me is why the outside of the collection bag is made of a fuzzy material and attracts every wood chip in my shop. I have tried to clean the outside of the bag with no success.

This thing sucks! (In a good way)

Cliff notes: works great as long as you aren't expecting performance similar to a 2 or 3 horsepower unit. Mounts to a wall with ease. Comes pre-wired to 120v, easy to rewire to 240. Packaging sucks. I've been using this unit for a few months now, and have no complaints regarding how it works. It pulls plenty of air, enough to control dust and chips from a small table saw, jointer, miter saw, band saw, sanding operations on a wood lathe, and so on, as long as you only use one tool at a time. All this despite being hooked up to 20 feet of flex hose. Excellent for a small garage shop. The bag is also easy to empty, with a zipper on the bottom, so it can be emptied in place. I have it mounted to a wall. Keep in mind, it weighs over 50 pounds, before you start suckimng dust into the bag, so make sure you hit a stud or two, and use strong screws. I also re-wired it for 240, which was a breeze. The manual included a color wiring diagram, and inside the junction box on the motor is a basic diagram as well. Now, my only complaint. The packaging is adequate for getting the unit from the factory to a store shelf, but in no way is it prepared to protect it from the tortures inflicted upon it by UPS. The dust collector arrived with some minor cosmetic damage, mainly that the junction box on the motor had been deformed after smacking the side of the box or something. A few sheets and blocks of styrofoam is not good protection for a 57 pound piece of equipment. Fortunately it worked with no issues, so I opted to hammer out the dents rather than return it. All in all, I am happy with it.

Great little wall vac

I really like the product. It does exactly what it was intended to do. I have a shop about 20 x 24. I have all portable equipment so I did not run solid pipe to the collector. I attached a 20' flex hose and just hook it up to each machine that I am using. I am having issues with the dust bag coming off of the canister. The hold strap is on its' tightest setting and it still comes off. I think the hold down strap deformed the bottom of the canister and caused it to slip off easily. I now have to have the hold down strap attached above the bottom of the canisters rubber base and on the filter portion just above to keep the bag on. Has been very inconvenient and a huge mess each time it comes off unexpectedly. The bag is only about a 16th full when it comes off so I know it is not a weight issue. Maybe I got a lemon canister? I do like the vac however and if it wasn't for the bag coming off, I would have given it 5 stars.

Works great

I’ve used this for nearly two years now in my woodshop/garage principally for my 16/32” drum sander. 14” bandsaw and Dewalt planer. It works great and with headphones on for hearing protection anyway the noise is not excessive. My complaints are why can’t ShopFox make the input and output ducts just a little longer. The dust bag has to grip a flange which only extends about one inch beyond the body of the unit. Same with the output. I am using a adjustable stainless steel straps to hold the dust bag on, instead of the ratchet type supplied, and a 45 degree 4” angle black pvc on the outlet to connect to my 4” hose, but it would be so much easier if both flanges extended 2” beyond the body of the unit.

Bon rapport qualité/prix

Installé depuis une semaine, connecté à 6 outils dans l'atelier, il offre un rendement surprenant pour le prix. Ma plus grande surprise réside dans le fait qu'il n'est vraiment pas bruyant!. On peut facilement se parler et entendre la radio en travaillant même si l'atelier d'ébénisterie est petit et que le dépoussiéreur est près de nous. Bref, pour l'instant, je considère cet achat comme étant excellent!

It sucks

... in a great way. The W1826 is replacing a WEN 3401 which reports to move 660 CFM, yet the W1826 has a bigger motor and more suction in a head-to-head bench test. The W1826 emits comparable noise levels (about 86dB) to the WEN, but its noise spectrum is wider and more pink-noise-ish than the screech of the WEN, making for a better experience. Very happy with the purchase.

Works great!!!

This thing is absolute beast!!! Very heavy, all steel construction, not a flimsy cheap unit at all. I built a 4" dust deputy out of roof flashing to connect to a 55 gallon plastic drum and this thing loves it. Very little saw dust ends up in the bag almost 6 months before I have to empty the drum. Very satisfied with this unit!!!

Pretty good

They should have submitted the inside diameter of the exhaust port. Had to take extra time and frustration to shape and insert a fitting into the port to attach the exhaust hose. Actually an insert should have been provided. Other than that bad omission it works OK.

Not as noisy as portable vacuums

Although I had to wait for it be in stock, the unit performed as hoped. It is much more powerful and very quiet. Would recommend this product.
