Functional minimalist collar
This collar is adjustable with no buckles so that it is adjustable through the band. The band width is a bit narrow and material light but makes for a comfortable fit as well.

Great everyday collar for all dogs, especially those with larger necks/smaller heads.
Our one-year old, 47lb Bully-mix (American Bulldog, Vizsla, Whippet, Bullmastiff mix) Lucy looks like she's choking when wearing a standard buckle collar. She was very underweight when we got her, and by the time she was a healthy weight, she couldn't comfortably wear a standard buckle collar without it either being too tight, or slipping off of her head. I tried this collar first in the Lime color, and then the Orchid when she got that one dirty pretty easily. Both worked great, they are a little brighter in color than pictured. It does wash pretty well with mild soap or Nature's Miracle, the Lime collar is just more prone to stains if your pup likes to roll in the dirt like ours does. My only complaint would be that they do have to be readjusted occasionally, especially if you walk your dog on a regular basis. I simply pull her collar up to her ears to make sure it can't slip off before I walk her. The sizing is accurate, Lucy's neck is 16.5in and this collar fits great with room to spare. Martingale collars were first suggested by the rescue we got her spayed at. They use them on all of their dogs, small and large. This version has held up well and is very reasonably priced compared to most that I've seen. They allow you to have a partial choke collar without hurting the dog or involving a chain of any kind. Great product that I would recommend and will buy again.

Great for dogs with big thick necks
The vet from North Shore Animal League recommended this collar after some idiot from Petco made me buy a collar that was way too small for my new rescue dog, Toby. He said, "As long you can put 3 fingers in (while collar is on), that would be the proper fit". My gut was telling me that it looked small and uncomfortable but being that he worked at Petco, I figured he had more animal experience in this field than I did. So, stupid me bought the collar. Long story short, the collar from Petco made little cuts/burns around by her neck/throat area. The NSAL vet examined her and told me that because she has a big neck with a small head, certain collars wont fit or fall right. The vet showed me this and said that it is worn by most dogs at this rescue place. I went home and immediately bought it. I couldn't be more happier with this collar! It looks great and looks so comfortable on her. When she's inside, playing, eating, sleeping, etc....it hangs loose enough where it doesn't look like she's suffocating. The price was right, too! I highly recommend this collar and so does Toby.

3.5 years and still going strong
I bought one of these back in 2011 for my pooch Niki to replace the first one that she'd been using since 2006. These things just last and last as they are very well made. I only got a second one because I wanted her to have a new one - the original one was still holding up just fine. Niki has a fairly thick neck compared to her head, and a collar like this works soooo much better than a fixed length collar on her. When I first got one many years ago, I was afraid that it would act like a choke collar, but it doesn't. It can only close so far due to the design, but it allows enough flexibility in the length that she rarely slips out of it. In the nine plus years that we've lived together, she's probably slipped out less than 10 times. I certainly recommend this brand and this design. It's never frayed once, and I've washed it a few times, too. Just a great collar.

CORRECT way to fit dog for no-slip collar
Adjustable No! Slip® Martingale Collar, 3/4" Any size works on these collars. I am a trainer rehabilitaing over 4,000 small to large dogs through my rescue program and this is the only collar I will use. Safe and does not harm your dogs neck while using positive reinforcemnet techniques. Fitting correctly is key. Place over heck, rotate and pull up until at the highest neck area under jawline - then on back of neckbring together both metal rings, do not touch them together but very close and adjust your collar to that length. Whenever you walk your dog- ALWAYS slide this collar up to the highest area behing ears and then you have control of them and they know it. The lower any collar sits on any dogs neck, the more they have control of you and can harm them. Measure around the fullest part of head/skull to make sure the maximum length purchasing will go over. Then around highest part neck behind ears - should be approx 2-3 inches smaller then head. This is the correct size to get your dog.. THE BEST!!! 1 inch width for large dogs, 3/4 - 5/8 for medium

Long-Haired, Soft-Furred, Highly Intelligent Dogs will Figure Out How to Slip This Fast
Depending on your dog's fur type and body configuration, this "No! Slip" martingale collar can still slip a lot. Do not buy this thinking it will eliminate the possibility of your dog slipping out of the collar, but think of it as a 10% guarantee over regular collar slippage. It is an improvement, but the dog will only not be able to slip out about 10% of the time more than with a regular collar (especially if the dog is highly intelligent and figures out the collar tightens differently depending on how much force is used to pull on it and the direction of that force). If you have a dog of average intelligence or one with short or stiff/coarse fur it works much better than for one with very smooth and soft long fur as well. In that case, it is more like a 50% guarantee over regular collar slippage.

Nice quality collar!
Really nice collar - This is a good collar for taking my dog out and doesn't cut into his neck like a regular type choke collar. It does tighten up (which I need for my 90 lb chocolate lab who is very strong). But as a warning, do not use this collar as a tie-out collar because it does loosen up when there is no opposing pull and a dog can back out of the collar quite easily. This is very well made and just what I was looking for. I had a collar like this (lasted for years) and when I tried to find another one in the local pet supply stores, I could not find one. I love Amazon because if you can't find something in the stores, more than likely, you'll be able to find the item on Amazon. And with Amazon Prime, I get a great price and free 2 day shipping!

Don’t buy this if you want to avoid using a choke collar
I had not appreciated that this is, in effect, a choke collar dressed up to look like a regular collar. It went straight in the bin. Wouldn’t dream of using it with my dog

The Coastal seems more solid (metal pieces) and it's just made better. I love my two coastal collar
I prefer the Coastal collars to the Guardian Gear. The Coastal seems more solid (metal pieces) and it's just made better. I love my two coastal collar, but got the Guardian Gear too because I wanted that Blue Bird color lol (but I returned it in the end because I didn't trust it on my rottweiler). Update: Just here to say that out of 3 brands of collars I buy on here, only the Coastal collars seem strong enough for my 90lbs rottweiler

Works as it’s supposed to
Love it. My dog was a Houdini when getting out of her collars. She choked herself once or twice and hasn't tried again. She’s 8 so she’s gotten out alot.. we’ve had this collar for over 3 months and she hasn’t gotten out once and she’s an Amstaff so she has some neck power.
