Fabulous light; terrible batteries. Out of the seven lights I recently received, 15 out of the 21 their accompanying batteries were dead. Of those fifteen dead batteries, seven showed corrosion and/or acid leakage. Two of the seven lights were damaged internally from that acid leakage and now do not function. (Thanks to AMAZON for replacing those two lights for me in such a timely manner.) Here's a tip for the manufacturer, supplier, vendor: skip the batteries. Nobody wants off-brand substandard batteries. I replaced the remaining six functioning "CLIPLIGHT" brand batteries with fresh Energizers; better safe than sorry, as they say. Again, the light is a great product. Bravo! Offer it at the same price without the batteries and everyone will be much happier. Thank you.

Lights up a large area

This flashlight is beamless. I light up a large area. I use it when I walk my dog at night and its perfect! It has a pocket clip that I can clip it almost everywhere. I highly recommend this flashlight.

There needs to be a black color version of the light

As a mechanic, I love the form-factor of this sort of flashlight since in a bind where you need to see in the dark and you need to see what you're holding without shadows and you need to use both hands, you can place the light between your teeth or hold it in your mouth to get the best aim and most direct focus of light at the objects you're working with. You can't do that so easily with other lights. And of course you can try to do the same by placing the light other places (clipped on the shirt, though for less focus). With the magnet feature of this particular light you have the option to attach the light in many other useful places too. The magnet, BTW, is good enough to do what it needs to. I've owned other strip/clip lights featuring the same form factor and I can confidently state that the Cliplight Clipstrip light is more durable. It's made out of better plastics, somewhat thicker and softer and not hard/brittle. The bottom end where the battery cap is won't break the way similar lights eventually will. So though I've owned the Cliplight for months, I'm only now writing a review for it and this after having used it at an autoshop full-time and where the light is always in my pants pocket sometimes jumbled in with keys and other tools. I've dropped this light many times. But here's what I don't like: The light has a yellow casing. Dirt smudging on yellow is very visible. I simply don't like looking at a flashlight that is filthy and appears to be getting filthier (albeit that's exactly what's happening). The company who makes this light should consider coming out with all black version. Then it would be perfect for auto mechanics with dirty hands. Compared to the non COB or led-array version of this light, the Clipstrip is brighter. But the downside is, it doesn't last as long. I use rechargeable aaa batteries where the time of use I get from the light isn't so long and I find myself having to recharge in about 2/3 of the time vs the ordinary LED Bulbed lights. But all in all it's not too great of a difference. CLIPLIGHT: PLEASE COME OUT WITH A BLACK VERSION OF THIS LIGHT. Thanks!

Love it (when it works)

I bought this to replace one that I LOVED that mostly stopped working - was very very similar. This one has all the same great features, but it fails to work about half the time. on. off. on. off. Who knows what'll happen. I wish it was better.

Best new technology on earth! Amazing light output!

This is a new amazing bright flood light in the form of a shirt pocket light. I am a flash light freak. This light is a LED "strip" instead of the conventional LED lamps. Extremely bright! If you don't know the difference, then visit a electrical supplier near you. This light will replace my daily super powerful Nebo flash light on the job as a commercial troubleshooter. The Nebo is still needed to outshine the sun when you are outdoors, but in 99 percent of the jobs, you are in the dark and this is the preferred device that you need. Pros: Unimaginable, unprecedented brightness for large areas, rooms, etc. Exceptionally small size to carry all day long. Seems to be water proof by the soft rubbery exterior. Rotating magetic pocket clip is genious! Genious! The " horizontal" magnet hold is weak but that merely a minor atttribute as the magnetic feature is super !!! All other magnetic hold positions are , (vertical, etc) great. If you are reading this and are comparing with the older LED lamps (4, 10, 12 lamps) lights, then forget the old style. They are history already in Sept 2014. LED "strips" are what you want. Last for 4 hours or more, ending with half power. Cons: After 4 hour the light output is half of output of a new battery, but it is still bright. The magnet clip is good, but could be stronger. You will not find a brighter pencil light than this one.

I never thought I could love a flashlight so much

I ordered this light to keep in my car since it seems like a wide beam and magnet/clip are convenient things to have in car emergencies. However, yesterday I had to use it while doing some modifications (installing a backup camera). I was doing this outside, in the cold, at night. WOW - this light is AMAZING. First off, the wide even beam is perfect for close-up work - no hot spots. the light is not perfectly white but this is OK. If they made a version of this with high CRI LED's, I would totally use this as a fill light for photo/video work. Anyway, onto car repairs. I had to use this light with the clip (clipped to wires in the car dash, clipped to my jacket on the zipper pull), with the magnet (attached to door, attached to trunk, etc) and in my teeth - clamping down on the clip proved easiest. In all of these it worked amazingly well save the occasional drool. It just proved so versatile that I'll be ordering more - at least one for the home toolbox. As others have mentioned, the magnet is not super-strong but it did work. My only possible complain is with the on/off switch. I wish it had a momentary - on function (forward clicky). as it is, you have to click it on and click it off.
