I have had several of the Protege 9s that have been excellent and this Protege5 stopped working after 2 or 3 weeks, so I'd stay away from it

installed the Planet Bike Protege 5.0 on an Origami Gazelle folding bike
Utilized the entire 31" length of wire that came with the Planet Bike Protege 5.0. Works flawlessly on my folding bike. Tried an older VDO wireless computer and the distance from the receiver to sensor was too great. The Planet Bike Protege 5.0 with the longer wire worked fine. Every time you drop the handlebars for folding, the computer wire must be accounted for. I zipped tied the wire leading from the sensor to the computer on the fork. Most wireless computers operate within 28" or less. The extra 3 inches makes a world of difference. This computer is economical and operates fine.

I've had several of the PB Protege computers. I like the interface better than any of the others - it shows 4-5 pieces of data at the same time, which vastly reduces the number of options you have to scroll through while trying to keep your eye on the road or trail. The 5.0 only scrolls through two choices: current time and odometer on the bottom line (while displaying current speed, trip time and trip distance on the top 3 lines). Simple and idiot proof. I bought this one for my folding bike, which is my KISS just-get-on-and-pedal rig with dynamo lights, coaster brake and 2-speed automatic drivetrain. I'll be buying another of these for my kid's bike. I want my kids to have the benefit of their own computer, but don't want them to have to fuss and fiddle with all the crazy options on the Cateye Enduro computers I used to use. Be aware that this computer does NOT display average speed or maximum speed, which a lot of people like to have. For those you'll need to step up to the 8.0, which shows them on a third option to scroll through (still pretty simple, really). By the way, for my mountain bike and main commuter rig I use the 9.0 because I like the temperature display. These are great computers, although i've had a couple of them fail, one of them after a major downpour - something that NEVER happened with my CatEyes. Fortunately PB customer service is great, and they will replace your computer if it fails in normal use.

Basic Cycle Computer
The Planet Bike Protege 5 has been around for years. I've owned three of them. It displays the information the average cyclist needs, current speed, ride time, trip distance, odometer and clock. However it displays only four at a time. A quick push of the unit forward in it's mount displays the fifth. Installing the Protege is straightforward. Install the mount to the handlebar, route the wire, attach the sensor to the front fork, attach the magnet to the wheel in a position that it's proximity is within 2-5mm of the sensor as it spins and it's done except for the set-up. Install the included battery in the computer and use the mode and set-up buttons to set time and wheel size. Slide the computer into the mount It should be ready to go. It's one of the easiest cycle computers to set up. If you need an easier set-up look at a more expensive wireless cycle computer. This is a product that I would recommend to others.

Great for indoor cycling on a trainer
It’s simple to use and gives me the distance and length of time I ride indoors. I combined it with Planet Bike’s rear wheel computer bracket and it works great for what I was needing.

Works great!
Paired this with the 160cm wire. Installed sensor on rear wheel. I'm only interested in each trip distance and works great for that. Over 160 total miles so far and still working great.

You like this Bike Computer
Shipping was quick. Opened it and waited a day or two for hubby to install it. After following the instructions it would not work correctly. I could get the clock function to work but nothing else. I remember reading a review post of a guy who had trouble getting his working and returned to his review and he gave a very good and needed tip in order to get the bike computer functioning correctly. Here's his advice: "Remember to align the Spoke Magnet at the same level of the Wheel Sensor where a glossy mark like (-) at the upper side (not the lower side of the Sensor). Do not get confused. See the picture in the manual." This advice made all the difference and is very important and is not clear in the instruction manual. Other than that small frustration once we got it running it's been a fantastic odometer. I LOVE being able to see it's 4 functions at once. It turns itself off if your bike remains idle for too long but saves your information. Just a little movement from your bike and it turns itself back on. Buy this odometer you will not be disappointed. It's very readable and I had no problem seeing it on sunny days or gloomy ones.

実用的なメーターです
猫目のケイデンス付きワイヤードメーターを通勤用のマウンテンバイクで使っていましたが接点不良になったので買い替え! コスト重視で検索してこの商品を購入。速度の表示が小さいのが不安でしたが実際に使ってみて問題ありませんでした。 欲しい情報が一度に見れるので結構便利です。アメリカンだなと思ったのは速度表示が0.5km間隔でしか表示されないとこです。 猫目のメーターしか使ってなかったのでちょっと驚きでしたが実用上問題ありません。通勤時の走行距離も今までと変わらずで◎ 自分が11/09/24に購入した時は1,786円だったので購入を決めましたが3,150円という本日の価格なら比較機種がもっと増えると 思います。
