Great device!
I have become addicted to knowing my biking stats. Total miles is now over 3700 since I started counting in 2018 when I got back on a bike for the first time since I quit riding in my teens. Average speed and elapsed time, air temperature, etc. No problem! My most recent purchase was to give each of my grandsons a Bike Planet meter for Christmas. Soon they will be sharing stats with me, too.

Great Recumbent Trike Cycle Computer
Despite some people's reviews, I noted that Utah Trikes used this on a lot of their recumbent trikes. Although did not mount mine on the left handlebar as they did. Instead ordered an Issimo Designs NOB Universal computer mount (from Amazon) and mounted that to the left TerraTrike Versa Bar, and now have a better placement on a slight angle that is out of the way of my big thighs. Used a spare CatEye rubber gripper instead of the provided rubber spacers because I preferred the extra lip for when I go trail riding (off road). Everything works as intended. I did have to measure the distance manually, which was rather easy. There is a slight different using this and CycleDroid, but the way the solar activity affects GPS signals who is to say whether GPS is more accurate (Moto G4 Play) than this Protege 9.0 computer is. Do wished this one had a grade percentage (i.e. +/- 6%) grade meter on it as well. The temperature is a good feature that I'll probably use more when it gets cooler. Notice when it went over 100° F the meter was like 05 instead of 105, but that's a minor thing. Resets well. Setting up was easy. The meter is working good on a TerraTrike Rover i8. The cadence thing is about accurate. Some days I don't have it in me and I can feel it, and the up & down arrow confirms it. Found out a way for a night light: use a USB powered LED light connected to a battery booster pack. A few rubber bands and velcro straps holds that right in place, but not worries about a back light - back lights drain batteries more. This cycle meter does everything most others do, and for more stable than the twist-on Sigma that this one replaced. I do not take this one in and out of the mount much. If one did the plastic nock might wear down over repeated usage and one might have to employ a wide rubber band or wider silicone seal. That would be the only issue I'd see over time. Haven't taken it down the Weiser River Trail yet, maybe in September. Am confident this cycle meter will preform well. Am pleased. Also corresponded with the manufacture on mounting options before I found The NOB and they did get back to me with photos and links. So customer service was great as well.

My 2nd Planet bike Protege 9.0 I just love it and it is easy to read without my reading glasses!
Overall I am very pleased with my Planet Bike Protege 9.0 and think it is a great value for your money. I had a Planet Bike Protege 5.0 in the past so I knew I would love this Planet Bike Protege 9.0 bike computer and I really do. I normally wear reading glasses like when sitting in front of my computer, or my cell phone and this screen is very easy to read even in the Florida sun. My first one is mounted on my recumbent Easy Racers Tour Easy (cord mount distance is 40 inches / 102 cm from mount to fork) and so I had to buy the extra long cord so if you ride a recumbent be sure to measure the distance from wheel mount to handlebar mount so you will know if you need the extra long cord or not. cord mount does come with rubber inserts for mounting on smaller diameter tubes of some handle bars such as on a recumbent. My pictures are from my Tour Easy mount. My second Protege is on my (new to me) Recumbent Cycle Genius RDX and again I bought the wired version and had to purchase separately the longer wire for the computer to mount on my recumbents handlebars. I included the back of the computer so you can see the 3 silver contacts and the two red setting buttons to reset the computer and to set the wheel size, also you can see that you can change the battery without a tool to open the battery compartment - I think that is a really smart idea even though I carry tools with me all the time. And it is easy to read without my reading glasses! It also tells you the temperature which is nice to know if you live in Hot Florida like me.

Easy to use
This is the easiest cyclo-computer I used so far. I like it because it's simple and accurate. It's wired and the CR2032 battery lasts for about a year or two depending on how frequently it's used. Replacing the battery so often is somewhat of a nuisance since it's something I wasn't doing with other cyclo-computers I owned in the past. Changing the battery is easy - just remove it from the cradle and open the battery lid. However, when you pop out the battery, it loses its settings, and have to calibrate it again. So, write the wheel number with a permanent marker at the back of the unit in case you need to do that again in the future. On occasions, the temperature reading seems to be somewhat unreliable showing readings that can range as much as 10F. However, I learned to trust the upper number which seems to be accurate. As it ages, it also seems to detach easily from the cradle something that can easily happen if you accidentally knock it - I had to replace two after many years of usage because they fell off.

Great!
Very good. Just wish it came in black. Update: I added a Bryton Rider 310E GPS computer, at about 4 times the price I paid for the Planet Bike Protege. Bryton: Bryton Rider 310 GPS Cycling Computer (1.8" display, 310E - Base Model) The Bryton isn't nearly as accurate because it uses GPS. The main reason I picked up the Bryton was that I don't have to reset anything when I change the size of my front tire (between a 700x32C and a 700x28C). The Protege sensors rely on an accurate wheel setting, whereas the Bryton's GPS sensors don't. I still recommend sticking with the Protege 9.0. P.S. I used a permanent magic marker to colour my Protege black. Looks great now!

Useful, but surely better options out there
I love how the display is set up, it shows me all the info I need at a glance. It's easy to install and set up. However, after 1 year of use, here are the negatives: 1- Too easy to reset. because there are no buttons and it's a push up mechanism, I find that it either resets in my bag often (I don't leave it on bike when I lock it somwhere), or if I push up to long (to change bottom display), it completely resets everything back to zero, which is super inconvenient when you are on a bike tour and need to keep careful track of you Kms for navigation purposes. 2- The construction isn't sturdy. After 4 months of use, whatever holds the battery in place snapped off, so I had to hack together a padding system for the battery to stay in place.

All the information you need on one small screen
This thing is the perfect size and gives you all the information you need. I haven't tried the wireless one because I wanted the wired one so I didn't have to deal with the satellites connecting

Love the extra lines of info
Love the extra lines of info. Only thing that would make it better would be if it were backlit. Appreciate the extra degree of accuracy in calibrating the settings.
