These are the good ones!
Most ice safety picks are built too loose to hold together. These are much better, if maybe too tight. This can be fixed by heating up the metal rod. The rubber cordage is useless and needs to be replaced by a shoelace or cordage. This is the brand to buy if buying ice safety picks.

Celsius Ice Escape Life Preserver is a good product.
First, I will have to admit that I have never put the Celsius Ice Escape Life Preserver to the ultimate test, in that I haven't used it after falling through the ice. But, the product seems well made and strong enough to haul my 180 lbs. out of an ice hole. The lanyard is an adequate length, the color is appropriate for an emergency device and it is light and compact enough to be easily carried and quickly deployed. What more can I say? I will carry it whenever I have to cross over ice and hope that I never have to use it. You should be able to secure yourself at the surface to prevent being swept under the ice by a current. Of course, some physical prowess will be needed to actually pull yourself out so it is not a perfect solution for everyone, but, combined with a rope and buddy, most users should be able to save themselves with this. It is a small investment that may save your life. I do recommend this for anyone who crosses ice.

Don't go on ice without a pair of these. Hang under your collar but do not tie on.
Bright color so you cannot forget them. Kids should be taught how to use these and if they skate or walk on ice ponds.Always around your collar, easy to fit under your collar. Always keep ready. Can also be used to help get someone else out. If you lay down on ice and get within reach so they can pull on one while you dig into ice with other pick. Then help to pull them out a little at a time. Cheap life insurance.

It serves its purpose
It’s a simple product but lacks on practicality. If they added a magnet between the spikes in order to keep them from coming open while carrying around neck or something inside the hole to prevent pulling out while walking would be a lot better. Just have to be mindful of the spikes start swinging. I added a piece of electrical tape to 1 spike to help keep it closed.

I feel so much better knowing my bf has these on the ice with him
No one has fell through the ice as of yet, so we haven't really gotten a chance to test these out. However, we have stuck them in the ice and they do hold very well. Not sure how much that would change if you had all your body weight pulling on them to get out of the water; you can still grip them while they are wet and most of all they give me a huge piece of mind while my bf is out on the ice! The price is right and they are not cheaply made. Hopefully we will never have to use them, but glad to have them just in case. I would recommend these to anyone who goes out on the ice, or anyone who worries about someone going on the ice.

Good product
Great product, but the spikes don’t stay together. Only reason I gave it 4 stars

Great product!
These work well and are my favorite type. I think we ordered 10 pairs last year and gave them all out to our fellow ice boaters. Put them around your neck and if needed, they are there. I had my grandchildren lay on the ice, and practice pulling themselves with the claws. If you do anything on the ice, you simply should NOT be without some sort of bear claw! I have not had to use them to pull myself out, but I do feel that having them is imperative!

Comfortable
Comfortable to wear. I even forgot I was wearing them. I haven't used these in an emergency, but I've watched videos demonstrating self rescue with and without these and it appears allot easier with.

Purchased for back up
I have a set of handmade Ice Rescue picks made some years back that I use as my primary. However I decided to purchase these as a back up to provide friends that accompany me on our winter treks. They seem robust with solid handles, however I would love to see 2 improvements: First I have a love/hate relationship with the coiled neck lanyard. I like that it is compact, however I feel it is a tad short when wearing heavy outdoor winter parkas etc. By the time it you have it around the thick neck of your layers, it feels like it is at your throat. Secondly, the picks are sharp (as they should be) and the handles designed to come together point-to-point where there are holes to insert each point. The issue is there is no resistance when "closed" and therefore they separate with ease potentially poking into my chest. Ouch! I remedied this with a small modification using a short ranger band around the point of separation which keep them in place; but yet pulls apart with ease and the band stays out of the way of the pick. All in all... seems like a good product that I hope to never use. ;-)

Bought as a gift
GF works outside a lot, and sometimes on the ice, and these will be great. Fold up into themselves, and have a cord to wear in your jacket. Very sharp if they are required. Orange, so they are found easily. Great insurance.

I fortunately never had to use these but I did feel ...
I fortunately never had to use these but I did feel more comfortable on the ice knowing I had them. Only down side was that they didn't come with covers for the spikes so carrying them around in my pocket I was a bit concerned about getting jabbed or ruining my coat but after 5 hours on the ice with them in my pocket all was fine. I am happy with this purchase.

Hopefully I never have to use these.
Ordered these and within the next day they arrived.. Super fast shipping. The quality looks great, only thing is the spikes don't have a cover so you need to be very careful. Hopefully I never have to use these, just wanted to be safe then sorry.

Good price came on time
Good price and came on time I have not used them but if ever do I'll update my post, just know that the spikes on the end stay out some versions retract and only come down when pushed down.
