Exact Match.
All good. One door cable on Mom's GE Potscrubber Dishwasher door broke. So, I purchased two cables because I figure the second cable would go soon. The two replacement cables were exact duplicates of the removed cables, and have been in use for weeks with no problems.

Fixes the problem
I have an old GE Potscrubber that is still out here kicking it. But one day the door slammed down and two springs shot out the side. As it turns out, the springs attach to a cable that broke. The spring provides a counterbalance to the weight of the door. This replacement part fit perfectly and fixed the problem right up. It's an easy fix that will only take a mechanically-inclined person a few minutes to perform. Cheap, fast, and good. You can have all three.

It just works
The design by the dishwasher manufacturer makes this part susceptible to breaking because the end with the single hole / eyelet attaches to a bolt head, and the cable bends about 90 degrees to where it goes over the plastic / nylon pulley wheel. That pulley wheel has no groove for the cable, and I am surprised it has lasted all these years. Starting the job requires removing several screws holding the two bottom cover panels - two screws on each end in my application. Then you have access to the broken cable. It's unlikely that both cables would break at the same time since one will break causing the springs to let go - and the door will be heavy. The 2 springs that support most of the weight of the door are attached to the other end that has 2 holes. Two cables are required, and both probably should be replaced at the same time. Once those springs are attached to the cables, the eyelet ends can be slipped over the bolt heads. The first is simple to attach, but it has to have some tension on it so it does not slip off the pulley wheel while attaching the other end. Stretching the springs is best done using some tool - maybe a locking pliers - and wearing leather work gloves to prevent hurting your hands when it slips. That is the hardest part of this procedure ... more than standing on your head to replace the screws when reattaching the two bottom cover panels. This is the part that has been breaking about every 5 years on my model dishwasher. At 29 years of age, the dishwasher may be replaced the next time this cable breaks. Hopefully the next model will be designed better and won't require this continued replacement.

Saved us a trip to the appliance store
Our appliances are 30 years old and we’ve just retired. This cable snapped and luckily my handy hubby thought to look for the part here. Worked like a charm????

This product is weak at the eyelet, but it's the only solution
I have replaced this part 9-10 times. (the dishwasher is the original that came with the house. I suspect that there is something wrong with the door opening/limit mechanism that allows the door to open too far before it stops, thereby putting extra load on the cable-spring counterbalance parts.) it's fairly easy to replace, and this part is the same as the original. The original design is weak at the eyelet, and breaks at the same spot every time. but, replacing this part every 3-5 months is the only solution I've found. i'm giving this 4 stars because it's no worse than the original design.
