NICE!! It takes up no floor space!

This little house is a nice addition to our mice habitat! They love it!! It 's a perfect size for mice and it hangs on the cage bars so it takes up no floor space! And, in my opinion I think a dwarf hamster would fit just fine in the house and would love it as well. I think this is possibly too small for a Syrian hamster though. ~ ~ ~Love, peace, and well wishes to all and happiness for our pets!!! - M.C.

Not wood, ladder is detachable.

As a previous reviewer mentioned, the top part of the description says "all natural wood." This item is all plastic. Further down in the details, the see-through roof is mentioned (the roof comes off, for easy cleaning). Had I paid closer attention to that part, I would have wondered how wood could be see-through. BUT, as our hamster is not a plastic-chewer, we decided to give it a whirl. Please note: when you hang the house on cage bars, since there are only hooks at the top, the house will be tilted down slightly, meaning the floor inside will not be level for your hamster. We placed a thin willow stick behind the house, between it and the cage bars, which renders the house level. Now, onto the ladder: the ladder is detachable, and our hamster knocked it away from the house just by bumping it on her way by. We remedied this by tying the ladder securely to the house and to the cage. The good news is, our large Syrian hamster climbed up the ladder and went in right away, and came down again just fine. We are planning to place a natural wood ledge directly beneath the house, thus negating the need for the ladder, offering more stability for the house, and essentially adding a "front porch."

Add Square Footage Without Renovations

I have a medium-size hamster cage and wanted to add some square footage. This house hangs on the cage wires and your hammie can access the space via ladder (like a loft). The roof is removable for easy cleaning and is made of red plastic which allows you to see in but provides privacy for your critter (hammies can't see red). The one drawback is the ladder which rungs are too far apart. I used rubber bands to create more steppable surfaces and that worked out well. Surprisingly there aren't too many products like this one so I'm giving it five stars despite the ladder. Plus my hammies love it.

Good item that dwarf hamsters like

This is a very good item for a reasonable price. I got it on amazon for around $5. It can be used as either a potie area or nest, it is easy to clean. The see through roof is a good idea. A few areas items to be aware of is it needs to be used with a wire cage with horizontal bars or it will need to be set on the ground, and the ladder frequently falls off. My hamsters like the item and the flaws that it has are fairly minor.

My smaller Syrian can even fit!

I bought this for my Chinese hamster. He really liked it. It has a removable roof which is great for accessing the pet if needed, and for easy cleaning. I had it in a bin cage so I didn't need the ladder. The colors are nice as well and the roof is transparent. My Chinese hamster has other arrangements now and I gave the house to my male long-haired Syrian. He weights about 135-140g. He fits cozy and likes it. I have a bigger Syrian girl at 190g and I'm pretty sure she could not comfortably fit in there, if at all. It's plastic, which makes for easy cleaning. I would definitely buy again! :)

very cute hamster house

House was perfect in size. My son has a dwarf hamster but I believe a larger hamster could fit as well. Because he has plenty of room. I like that it also came with a ladder. The house is made of hard plastic material, which was great because he likes to chew everything but this house. And easy to clean.

Great Little Hidey-Home

My hamster loves this little house and I think it is great, but I suggest cleaning it or at least emptying it out daily. Hamsters like to hoard food and they tend to go to the bathroom inside between naps, rather than climb out and use a bedding-filled corner of the cage. Very little ventilation so it can get smelly if not emptied out daily and given a rinse/wash weekly. Would reccommend to a friend.

Hamster House

This hamster house is nice. It is rather small and my syrian hamsters are almost too big for it. The plastic is a little cheap, but this is not a very expensive addition to your hamster cage. If your hamster like to hide out, I would recommend this product, jus be gentle while putting it together so you don't break any tabs off of the house. Other than that it is nice.
