Nice leather, poor design for many electronics, cheap hardware

When you open the shipping box, the smell of leather is overwhelming. It is thick and of decent quality. Then reality sets in. The included shoulder strap is thin and inadequate. The hardware is cheap plated metal which will wear through quickly. The laptop compartment has plenty of room for older style laptops. However, if you have a 17" in 16:9 format, you should measure first. The interior compartments are not adequate if you carry a tablet, smart phone, laptop, all the chargers, spare phone battery, cables, flash drive, small camera, etc. Just with a laptop, there's no good place for the power brick and cables. There are no small zippered internal pockets, You have to dump everything in like a big pocketbook, unless you buy a third party organizer or use zip lock bags. This case does have an expansion zipper so it has enough volume. If you are a more typical office based worker rather than frequent traveler, this case has plenty of room for papers, the laptop, and minor office supplies. It's very nice looking and a good value. If you travel frequently, as I have for 35 years, just be aware that you will need to make some adaptations and that the shoulder strap is not at all padded. If you need all the internal compartments and have less need of paper, look at the Checkthrough line. Those are nylon, but well thought out.

A good choice

I was looking for a case that (a) provided plenty of utility, and (b) looked like it would last. After five months of use, it has satisfied both criteria. I stow my 15.6-inch laptop in the nice sleeve, and then place it in the case. (Before the purchase, I had my reservations about how much use the sleeve would get. However, those concerns were assuaged. The sleeve also has a little grab handle, and I use it to carry my computer when I need to carry my computer when onsite.) There is also plenty of room for computer accessories (power brick, roller-ball mouse, etc.) as well as another generous-space pocket for papers. The main-case handle is comfortable, and it is holding up nicely. The case material does not have a sheen, but it is attractive and quite resistant to scratching. The case sits upright when placed on the ground, which is another nice feature. This was a good investment. p.s. I paired this with an another Amazon purchase (viz., Deluxe Luggage Tag - Black Onyx Leather (black) - Full Grain Leather). The textures of the case and the tag are a nice match.

Very nice product

I bought this bag to carry to and from work. I wanted to be able to carry a laptop, a few files, a water bottle, my kindle, pens/pencils/etc, and a light change of clothes (light change = socks/underwear/t-shirt, full change = light change + pants and outer shirt). So far, it has performed well. It looks great, and while I still worry about the carrying strap, it has not been an issue yet. Pros: Looks very nice Does what I want Leather Zippers are well made Cons: Shoulder Strap is worryingly thin. It is basically 1 ply while the rest of the bag is 2-4 ply.

The laptop padding inside the bag has a separate zipping compartment, it didn't quite fit the HP Envy 17T that I had just acquired to store in it, but It sill fits well enough to protect it, the bag looks great and is beg enough to handle all of my needs.

Great Bag; Lousy Shoulder Strap

Excellent quality and design. USA manufactured. (Three cheers for McKlein) My only beef is the strap does not live-up to the manufacture's advertistment. "Nonslip, shock absorbing, shoulder strap alleviates body strain," This is false, Big Time. The strap's cushion shoulder pad slips out of position relgiously. The strap is too thin. The adjustments are annoying because there are only three belt holes. McKlein needs to produce other strap options.

Great Gift!!

It was the perfect birthday gift for my boss, he carries it everyday. This briefcase was chosen because it has a detachable laptop bag, which he absolutely loves!!

Great size, color, style, and price

My wife bought this for me as a graduation present. It can hold lots of files, but there is also a zipper down the middle to collapse it a bit if you're not carrying tons of stuff (and don't want it to be as bulky). Solidly built, very good looking, good compartments. Overall great briefcase -- great value.

OK but not great

I have a 17 inch Envy and it is a very very tight fit so I am not sure I would rate it a true 17 inch bag. Quality seems OK but I wish I had spent a few extra dollars for better quality.
