DIMENSIONS INCORRECT - READ REVIEW:
SEE PICS! ITEM DESCRIPTION IS WRONG!! Listing states the opening to be approximately 7x10. It is actually more like 7-1/2 x 7-1/2. The 7x10 is 7” wide and 10” from floor to top of opening. Note the bottom bar, the bottom of the swing door then the bottom of the small pet door… after taking all that into account the opening is about 7-1/2” square. I should have realized it looked square in the pic and not rectangular as the stated dimensions would have been. I have a small 25lb beagle who fits thru a our electronic pet door with an 8-1/4” x 10” opening which is why I thought this gate would work.. and it would, if it was actually 7x10. Aside from that, it seems sturdy enough. I was looking for a taller gate than the 32” we currently have which our English bulldog can jump :( This is taller and sturdier. The opening to walk through is narrower than is comfortable and the small door is only large enough for a pet under about 15lbs. I like that it is removable like our current one, but it’s going back bc the biggest reason to get it is so our old beagle could get through, but not the larger dogs. She’s getting really old and whines constantly if she does not have access to wander and sniff anywhere and everywhere she pleases when she pleases so I was hoping this would be the answer. One final note, we have a similar gate with a bar across the bottom and it’s about 3/4” square. This gate’s bar seems like it would be more of a tripping hazard… just high enough to be awkward at 1-1/2” tall. Def not recommend if you have older family members who might find lifting their foot difficult.

Great for what we need it for
This has been super helpful at keeping the baby and dogs in one space or out of another. It is a little flimsy when it is extended as far as possible, but doesn't fall down or otherwise cause problems.

Like the added locks to gate bottom.
We bought this gate 3 yrs ago. However, after a series of thunderstorms, our determined dog finally broke our old one. So we purchased it again. However there have been some modifications, some good & some not so good. The good modification & the 1 I like the most, since this is how our dog broke our old one, is that a locking mechanism has been added to the bottom of the gate door. This allows the gate to be locked in place or to only open in the direction you choose. The not so good modifications is that the handle now requires a button to be pushed in order to open it, whereas the previous had a lift lever with optional lock. The current handle makes it difficult to open the gate when your hands are full. Also, we tried to use the old pieces that were ok with the new gate. However, they shortened the height of the gate a fraction of an inch so that we had to re-drill 1 set of brackets. They also changed the hardware that connects the gate & extender, making them a size smaller, so not as thick & strong as the previous model. Overall, I don’t believe the smaller materials will affect the durability of the gate & given the addition of the bottom gate lock, I believe this model will actually work much better for our dog.

This info was not available for me when i was deciding to make this purchase, and after receiving the item, i initially initiated a return because the gate was not able to be extended beyond the 2 original connected panels and one extra extension. I had thought i could order as many extensions as i wanted to make the gate longer. (i then ordered the Carlson Extra Tall FLEXI Pet Gate, which IS as extendable as you want it to be by purchasing extra extensions). BUTTTTT, back to this MAXI Pet Gate -- Before sending the item back, i discovered that if you or someone you know are handy with a drill and some screws, you actually CAN extend this MAXI gate also. The reason it was unextendable as is, is because the extra extensions only come with attachment holes at one end of the extension panel.....meaning you cannot screw extra extensions onto the other end (Pic #1). However, if you drill your own holes in the other end of the extension, and attach the extension to another extension or even another set of the MAXI gate (the original pieces with one gate and one panel), you can actually go on as long as you'd like. So if you look at the pictures below, the first photo shows how there are no more holes left on the left side of the gate in order to screw in additional extensions. But in the second photo, it shows where i drilled my own holes and used my own screws to add another extension piece. So essentially, you could do this with as many extensions as you'd like. I do recommend attaching the panels in an alternating inside / outside / inside / outside fashion in order to keep your gate straight -- again, if you review the second photo just above where my finger is pointing to my own screws, you will see how the extension panel is actually sitting behind and screwed on BEHIND the panel i am pointing to (Pic #3). The next panel then should be screwed onto the outside -- the same side where my screws are / the side closest to where i would be standing when taking the photo (so sorry if this is confusing! Trying my best to provide helpful info that i wish would have been out there when i was ordering). And lastly, the difference between the Carlson MAXI Extra Tall Pet Gate and the Carlson FLEXI Extra Tall Pet Gate is that the MAXI is not intended to be infinitely extended, but can be with your own handywork, and the FLEXI gate can be extended indefinitely. Also, MAXI gate is not easily dissembled then because each piece is screwed together in a straight line, whereas the FLEXI gate is easily dissembled and able to be shaped in various positions rather than just straight across a room. Pshewwww! Hopes this helps! :-)

Good solution for extra-wide opening.
I need to keep five small dogs in the kitchen/family room area. The entry from kitchen to hallway, at 38", is pretty wide - wider than most dog gate solutions. I found this gate on Amazon - it seemed wide enough so I gave it a try. Because it's mounted on wall clips, you have to measure very carefully and you really need to screw the mounting clips to a wall stud - I don't think using sheetrock anchors is a viable solution. Once the clips are in, you will need help placing one side of the gate into the clips. To reduce strain on the wall clips, I made a small support block to hold the center of the gate. The gate has been in place for three months and holding up fine.

flimsy and a small gate
this product is flimsy and once assembled the gate is small compared to other gates i have, need it for a large hall way, but all in all doesnt really do what i want as it is flimsy and unfortunately my mum has had a knee op and the gate in awkward to manoeuvre through down to the size being so small, i would not reccommend this product

easy to put up and open and does the trick ...
Brought this to bridge an archway, seems quite light on first look and thought wouldnt last - but to my surprise is flexible, easy to put up and open and does the trick separating my five dogs at night. Tall enough to deter attempts to jump over- gateway a little tight but on the whole perfect for the job

Good gate for a medium/big dog
Looked everywhere for a gate which would span the gap and this fits - but only just! Trouble is the bars are too far apart and one of my dogs (pictured) tried to get through and got stuck half way! Would be fine for a plumper/bigger dog!

Crap service, don't bother!!!
What a waste of time! The item wasn't as long as it makes out to be. I've waited in for 2 couriers both couldn't fit the item in their car so left it with me. Can't work out how to tell them to send someone else with a van as they haven't updated the website that it's not returned but still charged me. What a complete waste of time. Don't bother!!!
