Great design, poor construction.
It saddens me to leave a 3 star review for this product considering I use it everyday and that I have purchased 3 of them - all at different times. In theory this should be a 5 star product because it is VERY useful and it is a great design. It is exactly what I was looking for, EXCEPT it is cheaply made. I wish the manufacturer would use stronger wood, glue and screws, bump up the overall quality just a bit. I would gladly purchase again even it meant paying a little more. So why 3 stars? Because even though it is cheaply made it does serve its purpose. I have a malte-poo who needs to blocked out from certain parts of our house and yard. She is only allowed in the living room and in her "dog run" outside. I use these gates to keep her confined to certain areas of the house and I also used 2 more of them to create a dog run on the outside of the house. Now keep in mind my dog only needs a visual reminder of where not to go. Can she knock this down? ABSOLUTELY, but she knows she isn't supposed to so she doesn't. This gate stands on its own (best to keep it slightly folded so it doesn't tip over) it is not fixed to anything which makes it super convenient to move around and there is no need to make holes in your walls or cabinets. The "free standing" feature is the main reason I purchased it but this also means that with one slight tap it can come crashing down and since it isn't well made it can and will eventually break. 2 of my gates have broken due to the occasional falls on hardwood floors or being knocked down against the rocks that I use to keep it from tipping over on the grass outside. Mine broke from the rails so I was able to fix it by placing glue in the socket (hole) and placing the rod/poles back into the hole. It seems to be holding fine for now. I have seen similar gates on Amazon but most are just 3 panels and I chose this brand because I could purchase the same style/color in both a 5 panel and a 3 panel. They are also somewhat affordable compared to other gates of this length. I also appreciate the height, which means I don't need to move the gate and I can just walk over it. Note: If you need to remove panels you could easily unscrew a panel. You could also purchase extra hinges and screw 2 gates together (which is what I did for my gate outside) You can also easily change the direction of the folds by repositioning the screws/holes. I needed a panel to fold in the opposite direction leading out of the doggy door and I was able to do this by unscrewing it flipping it the opposite way and drilling the screws into that side. (Because wood is so cheap you don't need to predrill holes you can just drill the screw right into the wood- this makes repositioning easy but also speaks to how delicate the wood is :/ ) I do like my gates and I will keep them for now but if and when they fall apart then I will need to look for a better quality product. Side note: I ordered one more gate to extend my dog run outside but it arrived broken (I am guessing it got banged up or something heavy was placed on it during shipment) Amazon promptly refunded my purchase. I decided not to reorder another one because that is when I finally accepted the fact that these are not made to last and I decided to cut my losses.

Almost what I needed
I was looking for a small gate/fence to put around my Chihuahua's crate in the kitchen so I could give him more space for potty training purposes without giving him run of the entire kitchen. I read all the reviews I could find on multiple sites regarding this gate (Four Paws 3-panel Freestanding gate). In spite of reading all the product info, specifications, customer reviews, and even trying to enlarge pictures of the product to see if the box or gate would show, I could not determine whether the panels were hinged such that they could be formed into a "U" shape or only be put in a zig-zag shape. I had to purchase the gate and take it out of the box to make this determination. It turns out it can only be zig-zagged because the panels only fold in one direction and can only be opened as far as a straight line. Thus, I was not able to bend it into a "U" shape around the crate. I knocked one star off because (a) each hinge only folds in one direction and (b) I had to buy it to determine this fact. Otherwise, it seems sturdy and stable enough for my 3-lb. pup. It also comes with two "L-shaped" metal brackets that can be attached to the top of the panels over each hinge point so the zigs and zags will stay in place and not get closed or opened if the gate is bumped. The bottom of the gate has little feet on it so it will resist sliding and scratching the floor. (Since ordering this gate I see that someone else has written a review indicating that they moved the hinges so it could be used in a "U" shape. I will try this, but my 4-star review still stands because I will have to modify the unit.)

Dog gate
This is pretty low to the ground and not as long as we would have liked. That is on us. It is pretty light and falls over easily.

Great gate for a large opening
We were looking for a larger gate to cover an opening to our dining room to keep our dog out of that room. After a large amount of research, I settled on this gate, and measured to make sure it would fit appropriately. PROS: -Lightweight, but sturdy - this gate is light and easy enough for a human to move, but it still stands up well and I don't worry about it breaking -"Clean" look - it's by no means pretty (what gate is), but I've seen some ugly gates out there. I'm not ashamed to have this one around or propped against the wall. CONS: -It's short - I knew this when measuring, but hoped my (50 lb) border collie wouldn't try jumping it to do his dislike of fences. Oops. If you have a bigger dog who is at least somewhat comfortable jumping you might want to look for a taller product. Then again, my response was to buy a second one and attach it to the first one for a relatively tall (34") gate. No feedback yet on whether this has worked (just did it), but I'm thinking that should solve the issue. All in all, this is a nice product that isn't too pricey for covering a large area. No doubt it is easy to step over, and should work perfectly for a small dog. 04/2013- after long use of two of these attached together (I've just used zips ties), my dog hasn't jumped it and it works great.

A bit cheap
I have had it for 3 months. Its not meant for dogs that have any determination to push a fence over. Even small dogs could manage to move it if they really wanted to. Sadly ours broke fairly easy (not dog related). The wood is merely 1X1's and they are not super sturdy

Cheap Fix
This product is made of unfinished soft wood. I bought it for puppy containment. I had to spray it with Bitter Apple as she is an eight pound brute that loves to crew on virtually anything. It keeps her in place and does the job but it is not an elegant solution. We are getting her potty trained so eventually this will be taken down. Good for a temporary fix.

Made cheaply, do not waste your money!
Like the height and length, just what I needed. Unfortunately, it is a cheap piece of junk that broke immediately when my foot bumped the top of the gate when stepping over it. Was not even a hard bump but it fell apart as apparently it was just held together with glue!

It serves it purpose but the quality is poor. The wood is very cheap and flimsy
This gate is OK. It serves it purpose but the quality is poor. The wood is very cheap and flimsy. Mine has already started to wear down and break from the dogs jumping up on it. I would recommend spending a little more to get something of higher quality.

Very poor quality, buyer beware.
This product is of very poor quality. After 3 months, the gate has fallen apart - lots of the wooden parts came unglued and disintegrated. Not recommended. I would return it if I could do so now.
