Helpful
This helps get compression socks and knee high stockings on more easily. They are usually a bear to get on. It is big and really is awkward to find a place to keep it, but helps get them on.

Good concept poorly thought out
I was looking forward to getting this item. I've been having problems putting on my compression socks lately and though this might help. It does to an extent. When I first got the thing it took me a while to figure out how to use it effectively. The minimal picture instructions are next to useless. Add to the fact that the unit I received was not shaped properly. When you look at the thing, it should have the same distance between what I call the handles and the sock support. Mine did not. I had about 1-3/4 inches of space on one side and about 5/8 of an inch on the other. Considering your hands have to slide down the side of the sock support between it ant the handle on both sides as you guide the sock on. I have big hands and it made it almost impossible for me to get enough room to get my hand on the sock to pull it down onto the support. The issue was not easy to fix as the taper of the unit itself left little room to be able to bend the rods to acquire the room needed to pull the socks onto the unit. I had to put the unit in a padded vice and pry one side wider at the bottom to allow my hand to have access. Second issue I had was that even though I have the largest size Jobst socks the upper end of the sock support is almost too big to get the sock stretched wide enough to pull over it. Once the sock is over the top it takes an incredible amount of hand strength to pull it down far enough to actually use the mechanism to put the sock on your foot. All that being said, a couple of tips for those that are bound to purchase this unit (hopefully you get a properly welded unit.) Tip 1: after pulling the sock over the top use your hands to grip and slide the sock down the support to just above where the support takes a dip back in toward the center of the unit. Pulling it farther down into this dipped area will facilitate the sock being too tight in the foot when you attempt to put it on. Pulling a gather in the side works fine and may be needed to get that heal to roll over the top. Tip 2: Ensure you pull the sock on until the heal rolls over the top bar of the support. Then use your hand to furrow the top of the sock for ease of foot insertion. Now for my final grip about the unit. The handles, in my case at least, need to be longer by about 3 or 4 inches. That would make it possible for me to get my foot in the sock and pull it on from a sitting position. As it is, I have to stand up the do both those things. It works, but you have to work at it. Just a little more thought would have made this a very nice appliance to use.

My Arms too short, too far to reach
A very inventive and positive approach to a difficult problem. But right now, I'm not able to use it, because of a back injury I can't reach down far enough to grasp the handles.

Completely different design - worse than the first!
I love the stocking puller that I originally bought from this company through Amazon for my disabled brother's very tight compression stockings. This was the largest one on the market (3X). The stockings slide right on the frame without any problem; I am able to get my hands through the side handles to be able to grip and pull the stocking down the frame. I needed another one to keep at a different residence for when he comes to visit. I ordered the exact same product ("buy again"). When I first used it, I struggled so much to get the stocking on the frame, that it was actually easier to put the stockings on my brother's legs by hand, which is no mean feat by any means. The frame opening was too wide to put the stocking onto, and as I pulled and pulled, the stocking kept slipping back up the frame. To make matters more difficult, the area to put my hands and wrists through the handles was off center, squeezing my wrists between the handles and stocking frame. No matter what position I put my hands in, I just couldn't get that "sweet spot" of being able put the stocking on the frame and have it slide down in a matter of seconds. I thought, what on earth is going on? Did I accidentally order the wrong size? So I ordered the next size down, and it was way too small for my brother to fit his leg in. So I got a measuring tape and put the one I love and the new one side by side, and sure enough there were differences. The circumference and the shape between the two were different, the new one being slightly larger; the new one is more of an oval shape, while the beloved one is round. Even the 1" addition to the new one made a huge difference in trying to get the stocking on. Then I compared the two by looking down at them from above, and voila! There was the answer to why I could not comfortably fit my hands through the handles while struggling to get the stocking on. The frame on the nice one was at the same angle and depth of the handles; the frame on the not-nice one was at a different angle and jutted forward from the handles, squeezing my wrists between the two. I will post this now and add pics later.

Takes a few tries to learn how to use it, but well worth it when you do.
Wearing compression socks is like trying to force a boa constrictor to eat you. Not an easy task. I wasn't wild about the idea at all and I knew that I'd need help to get them off and on. When I first got the contraption I was immediately frustrated, but I persevered. It took me four attempts to get on one sock and two tries for the second sock. But after that, I got it! This device really does make it SO much easier to get the stupid things on. And I'll admit my doctor was right, they really do reduce the swelling and pain in my legs and feet. Right now I'm grateful for this sock assistant. If it weren't for this, I probably still wouldn't be willing to wrestle on the socks and I'd still be in pain and on meds that make me faint. This is SO much better all around. Thank you sock-putter-onner. Now I just have to find a way to hide you because, although you are very practical, you're not so pretty. And if this tough little guy does manage to break, I will immediately buy another.

Sizing information very poor
Do not rely on the sizing information given even when queried to seller. The extra large item is useless unless you have calves over 20 inches in diameter to use.it. A stocking that is stretched over the framework will not stay put - the angle makes the stocking slide off to the smaller end. While the seller accepted my request for a refund, (freight my responsibility) there was no RA number given (which they said was required) and the return label would not print. To send it back (at consumer freight/postal rates)would cost more than the product. I am a handicapped senior living in a lodge and have no transportation which is why I ordered online - returning it is more hassle and expense than it's worth. I have garbaged the item.

Works well and simple to use once you get the hang of it.
I could not get my socks on as I have trouble bending over and the socks I wear are tight fitting. After a few tries this donner puts my socks on first time every time. If you wear compression stockings this is what you need to try. It makes putting them on simple, fast and especially EASY.

If the size don't fit, you must pay for the return, which amounts to more than half the price of the device. I wish this policy would be posted before ordering, since it is unusual on Amazon. My mother in law has venous return problem and must used compression socks, which means her legs swell. The smaller version of the stocking aid allows us to wrap the sock around the center piece but we can't pull the device further than the ankle since the calf is too big for the space. I thought why not order the XL version and compare to see which rack is easier to use. The XL center piece is to big to allow us to wrap the compression sock around (not for us women anyway). It works perfectly for regular sock, allowing the calf some space. But who need help putting on regular sock. I thought the device was to help put on compression sock. Soo we had to return it. But prepaid return is available only if the product is damaged or isn't the correct order.

works good if not bent like this one
the first assist i bought was fantastic, it worked great. had to buy a new one cause i left mine at daughters which is 5hr. drive so i ordered a new one this one looks like it was thrown against a wall a couple hundred times. the bends to form this thing is more like some one put it in a vice and tried to form it that way instead of in a machine that would make the proper bends, because of being way out of form very difficult with my arthritic hands to put my socks on. would send back but iam sure they would want pictures and lots of other info to send back. to me not worth the hassle to return so i guess i drive 5 hours to my daughters and get my good unit. if i ever need to buy another one and it comes in the condition like this one it will automatically go back

NOT A WINNER!!!
I don't usually send criticisms in my reviews but this is the most useless thing I've ever seen I have bought four different gadgets to put on my compression stockings and this one rates right near the bottom. The handles are far too short. I'm only 5'9 and I can't reach the handles and still insert my foot in the socks. The socks keep sliding off the gadget every different time I tried. I looked on YOU TUBE and found lots of similar comments. It tells me the only way they can put them on is to hold the socks in place while donning them, but the handles are too short to reach.
