Great tool for measuring. I am an exterior designer so this definitely makes my life a lot easier. The reason I wouldn't give it 5/5 stars is because is very over priced. I know it is inexpensive to manufacture, they just mark it up very generously because their isn't much "digital" measuring device competition out there (yet!)

Great wheel, look forward to using it daily

I have used wheels for more than 25 years. The advances made in this wheel are comparable with those of any other piece of electronics over the same time period of time. The only thing this wheel doesn’t do is sync with my iPhone. In many respects, this wheel out performs the accuracy of a tape. Even over rough ground where wheels I had in the past would completely fail. I especially like the functions available on the keypad, but the design and instrumentation goes well beyond. The collapsible arm with carry case is a big plus. The old wheels with retractable arms always failed. Secondly, I am 6’4” tall. Many wheels I have owned have required me to walk around like victor Hugo’s hunchback. This stick is plenty tall but the design allows for a smaller person to feel quality comfortable by running the wheel at a slight angle. The handle is comfortable another big benefit I see is that when you stop the wheel stops - even when it loses contact with the ground. The add radius button is nice, but this is by no means the first wheel I have had with a function like that. The keypad has performed well- no stuck keys no multiple taps to get it to work and is glove friendly. Calculated industries did well in product design and implementation. I definitely recommend this product. While it is significantly more expensive than some competitors, the advances in both form and function make up for it.

Great tool

Recently I had a field to layout with 2000 points spaced 4' on center. In the past I have always been happy with Calculated Industry calculators so I decided to try this tool. I was not disappointed. I was skeptical about the digital display being readable in bright sunlight but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is very readable. I was also happy to find that if I ran a little past my desired dimension that I could back the tool up and stop on the dimension that I needed. The tool does not feel flimsy.

Husband loves it

My husband works in asphalt so he bought this hoping it was better than the one the company has and he loves it. Handle is plenty long enough, accurate and easy to use. Decent carrying case so it stores easily.

Good quality wheel......Could be WAY BETTER

So I use this wheel for my job as an outside plant engineer for a telecom company. I typically walk 1-3 different routes that total 3,4,5 miles in a day that have tie in points that connect them together. This wheel overall is nice. It is easy to roll, doesn't click, has a display up where you can see it so you aren't bending over every few feet to see what number each feature is at. With that being said it could be SOOOO much better and heres how. 1. The ON/Clear button is right up next to the handle so its easy to hit when you are walking which resets your numbers..... that sucks when you have walked 3,4,5 miles before you hit it. They should have a feature that makes you hit it twice to actually reset the number so that stops happening. 2. Since its digital there should be a number pad on it that allows you to punch in the starting number that you could take off from. 3. It allows you to save a measurement but it won't let you pull up the number and then start forward from there. 4. If you let it sit to long it deletes the footage you are on so no lunch breaks during a route. This thing is tough as I have dropped it on to rocks, concrete, and asphalt without any damage. It does count backwards. Just for the price they could have added a few more features to truly make it the best on the market......

Awsome!

Absolutely awesome! Easy to use and has the features that I need. As a landscaper I spend a lot of time measuring large areas that aren't perfectly square. This wheel isn't only built like a tank but it becomes a conversation piece for my clients. Every little thing to make your first impressions the most professional possible is worth doing when running a service business. Think about it, if a landscaper came to your house with this wheel vs a home depot special who would you think the professional was?

Easy to use the basic functions

I originally had a Collapsing small wheeled measure that I bought at a surplus store. I used it once or twice a year around the property. It was a pain to use as it always collapsed and the small wheel was not very accurate over longer distances or on the lawn. I learned to measure atleast twice. I made due as I didn’t want to pay 100 bucks or more for a better one. When I saw this one used but in good condition I decided to try it out as I was intrigued by the digital read out. All I can say is wow this Unit is well built and easy to use. Pros: Read out and buttons on handle (easy to use and see) Light for display Uses 9v batteries (not leaky AAAs most things use nowadays) Has a fitted knapsack to carry the unit folded Has a pendulum type pointer that you attach to The wheel hub to aid accuracy Has extensive digital measurement options (area, volume, units etc) it can even add the radius or diameter of the wheel to the measurement for an accurate measurement right up to a wall. Cons; Pricey (new) Needs a battery to work as with all electronics The included carry knapsack needs a small pocket to store the users doc and a spare battery! I’m very happy with this (Used) purchase although this unit is capable of a lot more than I need.

best wheel out there

I’m a professional estimator and have bought many wheels over the years. I find this one to be the best. I have had a random issue with it but since the warranty is 2years; the company Calculated Industries have replaced it without a fuss. I’m very pleased with the service I got with them and really like my measuring tool that i use everyday.
