Very Nice Compass and Big for a small boat

First let me say that I could not use this compass on my boat. I will explain why. Why, I gave it five stars. I examined it closely when I got it. It is a very well made very nice looking compass. I would say it is beautiful as compasses go. It is larger than expected. It has a heavy weight and felt solid. The dial is easy to read with large lettering. I wish I could have mounted it on my boat but alas it did not fit. I have a Seaswirl Stripper 2100 and the compass it came with was broken when I got the boat used about a month ago. It was obviously the original factory installed compass. It was very unimpressive. My boat has a special raised spot specifically designed for the compass. It has the shape of the compass. The one problem is that the area dedicated to the compass is a good one inch smaller than this Ritchie Explorer Voyager Compass. Now for those of you that are looking to purchase this compass and want to know the necessary size of the mount hole for this compass, it is 4.25 inches (four and a quarter inch). If Amazon had included a picture of the back of the package, there would be no question as to the required size of mounting hole. Please see the pictures that I have uploaded with this review. There is one picture of the back of the package that clearly states that the required size hole for mounting is 41/4 inches. Someone asked this question and a user answered in Spanish that the required mounting hole is 3.25 inches. This is wrong, do not go by that measurement. I will try and upload a picture zoomed to the mounting instructions on the back of the package.

Good and bad

Nice compass. Bad seller. The compass would not fit and could not be adjusted. I returned the unopened package. I had to pay the return shipping, not a problem. Seller charged a restocking fee, bad.
