City-life game changer
We live in Chicago with our 1.5 year old. Before her birth, we enjoyed bike riding along the lake front. Over the past year and a half, we have resorted to walking the lake front trail in a stroller. No more! When researching options for biking with a toddler, I first compared the attached seat approach versus the dedicated bike trailer. Consumer Reports states that the bike trailer is the safer option due to the child's shorter distance from the ground. Furthermore, I liked the idea that we could ride with the trailer, then detach it as a stroller. Seemed perfect for our lifestyle. The biggest questions then were price, size, and brand. After a couple of days with multiple Chrome tabs open, I finally settled on the Encore X. Throughout that research I compared the different tiers of trailers (entry, mid-level, affluent-status-symbol). After some time, it seemed that Thule and Burley were the biggest players in this industry, so that narrowed the search. Then comparing the different models and reading articles, the theme emerged that "you get what you pay for". It took a few days to swallow the possibility that I would be spending more that a couple hundred bucks on one of these. Finally, I weighed the decision of getting a 1 or a 2-seater. In the end, I landed on the Encore X because of the price point, the 2-seat option (for space and friends), and the stroller functionality. We have taken the stroller out with our daughter for 3 excursions along the lake front. All three times were wonderful. Our most recent trip was during the Pride Parade. We wanted to get away from the crowds, so we decided to head to the zoo for the afternoon. Traffic was a nightmare. Public transportation was backed up. But the bike trail was almost empty. We loaded up the trailer with a small cooler for snacks (and our daughter) and biked to the zoo. The bike ride was effortless. Then once we got to the zoo, we locked up the bikes and popped off the trailer into stroller mode and walked around the zoo. My daughter stayed content the whole time. Then after the zoo, we re-attached the trailer to the bikes and rode home. The sudden rain even gave us a chance to use the rain shield, and I'm happy to report that while her parents were soaked, our daughter stayed dry. I read the Wired article giving this a 5/10. Personally, I haven't experienced the handle bar issue. It stays put. Ventilation seems good as well, and if it's a particularly hot day, you can lift the back flap up entirely (unless it's raining, then honestly you've got other problems besides ventilation). We love this thing. Well worth the price of admission.

Awesome concept
Pros: spacious enough for two growing kids, high weight capacity, vast storage space, smooth ride, fold flat, easy to push when walking or with the jogging attachment (haven’t used the bike trailer feature yet, will update) Cons: biggest complaint: the handle comes loose and falls easily when pushing, particularly with the jogging attachment, have to remove all the wheels to really save space when folding down (though the quick release is a really nice feature), very difficult snap into place when opening back up from flat

Best trailer on the market
We LOVE our Encore X trailer!! We took this everywhere this summer! We had the Honey Bee originally but we feel the price of this trailer is justified by just how much nicer it is! The suspension makes a huge difference, we live in rural Alaska with horrible roads and this makes the ride so smooth for them!! Also the bench seat alone is worth so much in my opinion, they sit upright and so comfortable versus the sling seat where they leaned in towards the middle and felt like their backs were so uncomfortable and made them grumpy about touching each other. It’s super easy to convert from trailer to stroller and back. We bought an extra bike attachment so we can easily unhook from my bike to put it on my husbands so we can take turns hauling them. The cargo is very spacious and can do a decent grocery haul or all of our beach gear. We are getting a stroller kit for when we travel through the airport as the one it comes with sticks out so far. Excited to try out the accessories that are available with this one. Our honey bee wasn’t comparable with any of the kits. 100% recommend this trailer to anyone!

Top notch from burley
Overall, love the product. If I could do it again I would get the X for the reclining seats. I’d love to lean the kids back about 10 degrees so they’re not so straight up and down. Does the suspension work, idk… maybe a little, but I don’t think the 5 point adjustable on the higher end models would be much better. Only downfall is the width in the cart. I have a 2 and 4 year old and they look tight to me. They have room for another year or two but no more. FYI, my 4 year old is in the 20% for he’s ight and weight, he’s little! Rides smooth, assembly was a snap, versatile attachments, and the locking mechanism is a top feature over lower end models.

Great product but poor ventilation.
Almost everything about this trailer is fantastic. It's very sturdy. The materials are excellent quality. It offers a very smooth ride for the person on the bike and the kids in the trailer. My only complaint (and it's a big one) is the poor ventilation. The rear plastic window does pop open when air is forced through the trailer while it's in motion. But, while at a stop or riding slowly through areas with little to no wind (i.e. our housing track), the air inside becomes stagnant and warms up very quickly. Especially with two kids in tow. This is happening with our current weather here in Southern California which is only in the mid to high 70's. My wife and I rode our bikes to lunch this afternoon. It was maybe a 10min ride? The wind was at our backs on the way home. By the time we got back both of my kids were dripping sweat. Unfortunately, the only way to get a rear zip up plastic cover is by paying an extra $200 for the top end model. That's not going to happen. So now I'm trying to see if I can work something out, like mounting a small battery operated fan. If that doesn't pan out then I guess I'll just have to return this and settle on another brand.

Good baby trailer ,but for 1kid is better
The quality and appearance of the children's trailer are very good. I have seen many brands of trailers. I think the appearance, quality and convenience of this brand are very good. However, the thing I received is defective. There is a small hole in the transparent clinker film on the right side. I'm afraid it will grow bigger and bigger. My home is too far away from the return place. It's too troublesome to return and exchange goods

Comfortable ride
Have used this for a few months after upgrading from a lower-end single. This is very comfortable for one 3 year old, lots of room for stuff, good suspension for poor condition city roads. It is a bit of a squeeze with 2 kids, but it would be quite inconvenient for other things if it was wider. The ability to transform to a pram is a great feature. Note that we did find it VERY difficult to assemble the first time, and haven’t tried collapsing it since. The website mentions that the material can be quite tight the first time, but I wouldn’t have expected it to be as difficult as it was.

Just Great
For the price I’m certain you won’t find a better product. It really does compete with its top end counterparts like Thule. I did get it on sale but even at full price this is good value. Well made great design. Kids love it and so do we. Loads of helpful videos from previous customers online to help with any problems or helpful advice. It’s a little wide to use as an everyday push chair but that was not it’s intended purpose. Great bit of kit.

Great trailer but nearly impossible to set up first time.
Found best price on Amazon. First product I have had to read the manual for in decade. The assembly of the trailer is incredibly difficult you need to reach through to grab a bar and pull it together with another bar until it clicks. The first assembly is nearly impossible. Burley acknowledge this and recommend keeping the trailer expanded for a number of days to allow the skin to stretch. This is not feasible for me as the trailer is kept in outside storage. If you had 10% less strength or determination than me, I'm confident you would never be able to assemble the trailer. I have been using it for a few weeks now and my 16 month old loves it. The luggage capacity is enormous and the suspension is useful for cycling down paths with tree roots and cycling off of curbs. Very impressed with this product.

Great
Works fantastic, baby loves it, easy to attach and good wind breaker and storage to Lee baby warm and Babys crap in place! Isn’t a ton of head support in the seat for if he falls asleep, but we simply got a neck pillow.
