Nice once you sort out the threads

I picked this up to have a small craft to take with me over the thanksgiving holiday. The package arrived much like other reviewers depict- with threads folded and tossed into the kit. It took me about 40 minutes to pull out each color and decide which was which. I cut each floss strand in half and looped them onto a 3D printed floss card. I found the recommendation to precut the Aida to be effective to make sure I had enough room for each design. This only works if you are comfortable stitching in hand. I also prewashed the Aida, which softened it a little, but there is still plenty of rigidity to it. The patterns are easy enough to follow for me- I think I fall somewhere between beginner and intermediate. Finishing will require some outside supplies. I am planning to cut cardboard with a cricut so the stockings are uniform. We shall see how that turns out

Nice kit but needs prep

The patterns themselves are nice but you definitely need to be ready to do some prep work first. 1- the thread is a pain, but personally I cut, separate and put the threads into labeled ziplock bags. 2- You need to cut the cloth into manageable pieces. Once the prep work is done the patterns are clear. I think these ornaments will be great when done!

Not for beginners

I am a beginner cross stitcher and this was hard. Also, there was not enough cross stitch cloth to be able to complete the project. The choice is to either work holding the whole big piece of stiff material while stitching in a 5 in circle or cut it apart using up extra to it would fit in hoop. Either way there still wasn't enough material included. I also thought they were little stocking I could slip a note into when I gifted them away. They are not, once finished you are to glue them onto cardboard.

Cute and easy

I stitched these up for my grandkids and they all LOVED them. They are cute and can be stitched in a short time. I'm going to stitch more next year.

Stockings are adorable, however the wad of floss they stuff in the kit is awful to separate.

Some of colors were so close in color it was hard to tell what was what.

Missing items

This was missing a few colors I had to go out and buy replacement also said it came with a needle but it was missing.. Sorting the colors was a nightmare all the thread came in a tangled mess.

Good value, poor execution

These would be perfect except for a few flaws. The designs are nice, and ultimately they will make cute ornaments. However, if you're new to cross stitch, I think this package would be frustrating. Here are my problems with the whole set: 1. The canvas is one large piece, so you have to measure out each piece and make sure you cut out a large enough piece for your design. But that also means you probably don't have a hoop the right size for the pattern you're working on. It would be better if the instructions came with a layout for fitting all of the ornaments on the canvas. 2. Similarly, there is one large piece of red felt that you're supposed to cut up as the back of your ornament when you're finished. 3. It doesn't come with hoops or anything to finish off the ornament, and I haven't figured out yet how I'm going to do that. 4. Each color of yarn comes in one large skein that you have to cut yourself, and you have to match it to the right symbol on the pattern, as it's not labeled. So there is a lot of prep work up front. Overall, you get a lot for the money, but you have to put a lot of work into it. And I'm not even sure you'll get 30 ornaments out of the amount of material that comes in the package. If you're looking for a one-and-done kit, I would say this isn't for you.

Nice cross stitch patterns

The floss strands were all folded up and bundled together, so separating the floss colors and matching them to the color and symbol chart was very time consuming. My kit was missing one floss color. The cross stitch patterns were very cute and easy to complete.

Disappointment

I love cross stitch kits, as an avid cross stitcher. My problem started with this kit as soon as I opened it up. The pattern was not correct. It was for a felt stocking instead. Now I ended up emailing Bucilla to get the correct pattern as I did not want to deal with the hassle of returning this item, and luckily they were able to email me the correct pattern for the tiny stockings. I should not have had to do this as a consumer, and I have read other reviews (after I purchased) that had similar problems to me. Do better. The other issue that I had was the fact that they say that you should be able to cut rectangles out in a certain size for all 30 of your stockings. The cloth was not large enough, as about an inch of my Aida cloth on one side couldn't be used (as the weave was off), so I can fit about 25 in the correct size and then the other five I'm just crossing my fingers that they will fit. Luckily I have more cloth, but it's just frustrating when I should have enough in the kit. Other than those two (I think pretty major) issues, it works as a regular kit. I have enough thread, and they will look really cute. It's just a hassle before I even started the project, and it kind of put me off of really diving into it. The last issue I will point out is that they don't mark the colours (which some kits don't), however it is sometimes VERY difficult to determine colours (like pink, peach, and coral).

Decent kit...

After completing rather a lot of the Bucilla felt stocking kits I thought I'd have a go at these cross stitch mini stockings as I hadn't done any cross stitch for quite some years. They turn out rather cute but putting them together can be a little fiddly and outlining the image is rather taxing!! They are lovely though and I am enjoying making them for our tree and a few for gifts.

Lovely little projects

I love these mini Christmas stocking projects and that the threads, aida and needle were included. I think the threads should have come numbered to make it easier to organise and the instructions should be clearer for joining the cross stitch part to the fabric part, maybe provide pictures for beginners. These will make lovely Christmas decorations and/or gifts.

It's not for beginners. But it's fun to make. It is missing the red thread and it would be better if the threads were sorted already.
