Very Quiet, Simple Features- missing lightbulbs

Overall I am very pleased with this range hood, although it was missing the "included" bulbs and modifications were necessary. Pros: Simple, sleek, manual controls, replaceable lightbulbs, quiet, effective Cons: MISSING LIGHTBULBS (-1 star for this), difficult to remove and replace bulbs if hood is already installed Be aware of: Electrical connections on the RIGHT It has a simple design- no digital interface or computerized controls, but rather manual rocker-type buttons on the underside of the hood and replaceable lightbulbs. It is sleek, uncluttered, and easy to keep clean. I love that the grease trap screens cover the entire under surface- old hood had exposed underside that got greasy and was very difficult to clean. The two speed fan is powerful but very quiet. When I turned it on for the first time I thought it wasn't working, as I was accustomed to a freight train-like tumult upon flipping the switch. On the other hand, I was extremely irritated that the bulbs, which were supposed to be included, were absent! I had to go spend an additional $16 on two halogen bulbs. The inclusion of the bulbs was part of my calculation in deciding to buy this particular hood. And though the bulbs are replaceable, they are going to be a monumental pain to replace, whenever that time comes. There is a suction tool provided , as the recessed housing does not allow you to grip the bulb, but there is still the major issue of trying to align the prongs into the socket holes and then twist them into place correctly. If I ever get bored enough (LOL), I will take down the hood and replace the light fixtures with standard ones- should have just down this before mounting. Also be aware that the electrical connections are on the RIGHT side of the hood (as you are looking at installed). My existing electrical was on the left, so modifications had to be made. I had to reroute the black and white wires behind the shield in front and over to the other side to connect them. This then left the wires without a metal cover so I had to use aluminum tape to conceal and secure them to the roof of the hood. The ground wire I attached to a screw in the metal housing.

Economical hood with a more upscale appearance. Fairly easy to install.

Looks great installed and I did it all by myself. I did not use the supplied items that assist with a single person install as the unit was not so heavy that I couldn't hold it up to mark out where to pre-drill the mounting screws. On the down side, this model I believe is an older model that used halogen bulbs - which are necessary to handle the heat that is produced on the range. I considered putting LED replacement bulbs in but my electrician friend said it was not a good idea. The halogen light looks great though. The fan is WAY quieter than the old unit that was yanked out, but fans are never quiet enough to satisfy me. So I bumped my review to 5 stars for noise simply because of the reasonable cost for this model unit.

Easy install, performs well, missing accessories

I put off purchasing a range hood for years, assuming I would need ductwork professionally installed. This model (among many other ductless options) circumvents that handily. While installation did turn out to be a straightforward one-man job, the printed instructions include the steps for ducted/ductless install and framed/frameless cabinets all sort of jumbled together, which made for more deciphering and double-checking than I would have liked. With a clear set of instructions, I could have had this wired and hung in 20-30 minutes. NOTE: Be careful when unboxing and removing panels and parts. There are some extremely sharp metal edges in there! I may buff mine smooth sometime down the road. This kit does not include the activated carbon filters for ductless installation, which I can understand since some users will install this ducted. (NOTE: OEM filters are pricey! Buy generic or cut your own!) What I can't overlook is the manufacturer failing to include a pair of lamps, as I can't imagine anyone purchasing this and not wanting functioning lights. I opted for GE LED lamps with the GU10 socket, and they work nicely - comparable halogens have a ~10x shorter life expectancy. I suppose time will tell if I've made some foolish mistake not using the recommended halogens. Overall, this is a sleek, well-built piece of hardware that does what it's supposed to and installs easily. I docked a star for the missing lamps and convoluted instructions.

Really nice looking range hood

I purchased this range hood to replace my old one that had seen better days. It had ability to vent to about any way and since I didn't know which way it vented, was a smart purchase for me. We had it installed and it looks so great! love it! A few issues came up, though, which are worth consideration: First, the fan and light buttons are hidden underneath and take some getting used to locating them. I keep having to duck under the hood to see where the buttons are. Second, this range hood does come with a suction cup to help with installation of the lights but the lights do not come with the hood. I purchased two LED lights that fit and tried to put them in....I'd recommend you put the lights into the range hood before installation, while the hood is lying upside down so you can see down inside the hole that receives the light. It took a number of tries to get the lights in, because they have to be inserted in the correct position and then turned. The lights will be flush with the surface of the range hood. Even though the light installation gave us a lot of trouble, I love the look of the new Range Hood and will recommend it.

Fairly good Range Hood

Pros: Looks good. 36" hood. Good airflow. Good illumination if you replace the lights with LED lights. Cons: Vent damper does not close (see picture). Noisy on high. Limited options on replacing my old 36" hood so I chose this one. I am a little concerned with the fan as it has a lot of wobble. Annoying that the vent damper didn't close so I did not install it. Fan on low is quiet enough and rarely use it on high.

Decent product

Works as designed. Great options for venting. Lighter than expected. Did not use brackets for "one person" install. Found instructions bit complicated. Just had second person help feed the power wires through and mark the mounting holes. Once done, rest was easy to complete. Low speed is very quiet. Bulbs not included as stated. Overall look is great. Price is decent for it's CFM rating.

Simple Elegant Functional

I like the overall look , quality & quietness of operation + does convert to non-vented install. IMO the grease screens are a tad flimsy . Charcoal filters for non-vented install are not included and a three prong wire kit is sold separately.
