This Doggy Back Pack is Great!!!

We've had this for about a month: So far, it hasn't chaffed our puppy yet. He is 37 lbs and this fits him, albeit a bit big, but good enough. There is a loop on the top that you can attach a leash to, he is still learning how to walk without pulling, so that has spread open a bit and had to be pinched back together, but other than that we love it. We take him on the trail quite a bit and he can still run and play like a puppy, all while holding his own water container, water, and poop, my keys and phone. It took our puppy a few times wearing it to begin to feel comfortable with it on, but now I think that he understands that he has some our his peoples things in it and acts differently, better. When we call him to us, generally he acknowledges it, looks at us, and then continues to do whatever he wants to do, generally that is run around, but when he has the back pack on when we call him, he always comes to us. The zippers are functioning properly, there are not rips or tears yet (and he is running though underbrush and over fallen trees with this on). We are happy with it, and Gus the Puppy, he doesn't mind it either.

Good but not great

In general this backpack is good. My dog took to it right away. It fit him well. Charlie is a very strong, 75-pound border collie mix. I put two water bottles (1.2 lb each) on each side and he trotted along just fine... Until we saw another dog. Then he pulled so hard that the chest strap just snapped. It was balanced enough that the pack stayed in place until we got home, having attached his leash to his collar. Since I don't have $90 to invest in a better one and he'd probably snap a replacement, I'm going to patch this one and keep using it. Also I ordered blue and received black but that's on shipping and not the actual product.

Dog gone good

These dog packs are a good value. They fit both of my dogs well (medium - 35 lbs. and medium-large - 62 lbs.), with planty of adjustments. How fast the animals get used to the packs depends upon their personalities, but neither of my dogs seem to be bothered from chafing or comfort issues. The packs stay put well once you take the time to adjust them properly. Only downfall was the straps needed trimming after adjustment so as not to have dangling loose ends. Not sure what size dog would ever need a belly strap that long! You give up a little capacity for a better fit that doesn't shift around a lot.

Get a job, dog!

This worked like a dream. We read that a backpack with bottled water is a great way to calm your dog. We bought this for our shepherd, boxer, pitt mix when he was about 6 months. At the time unless we walked him 5-6 miles a day he wouldn't settle! So we bought this and filled it with cans of diced tomatoes (it was what was on the shelf). Two cans on each side for our 50 pound puppy, plus a 3.5 to 4 mile walk was the antidote we needed to his hyperactivity. The bag has stood up, now our dog is 13 months and while he's calmer and we don't need to use it every day now we use it several times a week and the result is a calm, tired dog.

Nice backpack

I love my backpack. I get to carry my human's plastic things she calls discs when we go and play on the weekend. I don't have to stay home and I have a job. Best part, when she is done throwing those discs in the baskets, she takes off my backpack and we go for a long walk. My only complaint is that the backpack is hot, but she pays attention and takes it off when I am too hot.

Shoddy Workmanship, Cheaply Made

I bought this as a pack for my Lab to participate in a charity dog walk. The morning of the walk we put 6 16oz bottles of water (3 per side)and a small towel in it to carry for us and hopefully (as Ceasar puts it) give him some more work. I put it on him several weeks ago when we got it to get him used to it. He wore it comfortably for about an hour so I'm confident we it had adjusted well. I tell him to wait by the door and go open the truck, call him to load up, he jumps in and the front strap disintigrates. Literally nothing left the webbing holding the buckle to the right side is gone. I look at the way this is sewn and its prety easy to see what happened. The webbing is looped to itself with one row of stitching, not sewn thru or around. It is also nylon or some marterial not condusive to use as webbing. I looked at the $50-60 saddle bags and thought I wouldn't get my monies worth. I hate being wrong like most people but I hate calling a company asking for a refund or something else worse. Chalk this one up to not following instincts. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT It really is made poorly.

Great Product

At first I was hesitant to buy this pack, after reading some of the negative comments about it. However, after using it for nearly 9 months, I can honestly say it is a terrific product. It adjusted to fit my boxer's broad chest and small middle with no problem...I just tucked the extra strapping up. We've used it nearly every day for her walks, with no noticeable wear. It slows her down so she doesn't pull on the leash (much better for her neck) and provides that extra exercise she needs to reduce her energy. Highly recommended! Edit 2/11/12: I thought I'd add an update to my review. After three years, we are still using this pack. I've had no problems with it, and we've used it every day except during the summer (my dog overheats easily).

Great price and pack!

This pack came just in time for our camping trip over the weekend. Taking it out of the packaging it seemed like a really nice pack for the price. Reading another low review I was skeptical. We put in a couple bottles of water, a towel, and some sunblock, just to test it out. The 1st thing we noticed was she seemed to calm down a bit with the pack on. She is a small pit mix and the pack seemed a little big on her, then we noticed that you can totally adjust the straps and after we did, it fit perfect. We went through our hike with no problem. So all in all, great pack, great price!

Buen equipamiento para senderismo con tu mejor amigo

Buen espacio de las bolsas, buen ajuste con las correas, tanto superiores como inferiores al pecho, el color es negro y no verde como las fotos de la publicación (que me parece mejor). Sirve para perros desde medianos a grandes o gigantes. Por el interior viene con tela tipo polar que evita que se mueva tanto como otras, pero en contra podría causarles calor comparado con las de malla. El único punto negativo es que la tela se ve un tanto delgada y frágil, si tú perro está acostumbrado a andar explorando o es un perro grande se puede atorar y rasgarla.

Cumple su cometido.

Un buen producto por el precio. No se le puede pedir más. Util, practico, pero no muy cómodo para el perro. Tiene buena capacidad de carga pero hay que equilibrar bien el peso porque el perro lo resiente.

Very Happy

Bought this for my 80lb English Lab.so he could carry his own water on day hikes. Fits well, and I like the ability to adjust where the saddlebags sit on his sides. The chest strap did loosen when hiking so I’ve changed it to a buckle closure instead. For the price this is a great product.
