Bright Light; Frame Lifespan Suspect
This is a smaller desk lamp that is entirely plastic. While the light itself is very bright with 2 adjustable settings, the overall flimsiness and quality outshines the brightness of the light -- pun intended. Knock the lamp off the desk? Likely broken. Use for a while, where you adjust the arms periodically? Likely the ability to stay in one place will vanish (there are no places to tighten). You can also charge a device with the USB cable on the side and place your phone in the cradle of the base. I have an iPhone 5s and it would only fit when I took my case off. Since the 5s is a fairly small phone, your new, bigger phone will probably not fit. The unit folds up with a movable, compact size. It only weighs around 2.5 lbs, which also adds to its portability. ------------------------- This type of lamp is what you would expect from a typical department store. Great for dorms, kids, and new apartments where you want to save money. However, I say 'save money' because I would assume you would buy this in a department store. However, for the price you are paying here you are not getting value for the money. Unless it goes down, there are better options available. I bought a nice stand from a certain very big department store that was under 35$ and has lasted for 3 years.

bright light and a place to charge your phone
I'm somewhat underwhelmed by this lamp but like it nonetheless. The lighting is good and the adjustments work well but the quality was not what I would expect from a lamp at this price point. From the picture it looked, to me, like black plastic and metal. It's actually all plastic, what looks like metal in the picture is gray plastic. The plastic is the ultra smooth, shiny type that scratches easily. Textured plastic would be a welcome improvement. The cord is long and the adaptor is narrow enough to only takes up one outlet on a power strip. The phone cradle works fine but is a bit of a snug fit for my iPhone 6 in a case. Without a case it would fit much better. It's nice to have the phone upright next to the bed to use as an alarm clock. The USB charging port is a nice touch and allow me to use my regular charger in another room. The small items bin is fine but isn't very accessible when the phone is there. The light it gives off is cool, nothing like an incandescent bulb. I've found it to be a bit bright for nighttime use but it would be great to have on a desk. The power button is just right, located front and center and only require a light tap. All in all this lamp is a good choice if you like the style and want the phone charging capabilities. It would be greatly improved by the addition of a dimmer switch and a switch to textured plastic. While I don't use it late at night because of how brings it is it's nice to have on in the evening since it uses so little electricity. The best part is the way it holds my phone up. I don't care for alarm clocks that light up, it's been nice to have my phone handy to check the time without any extra light in the room.

3 Watts of power is nice, the aesthetics and quality not so much.
The Black & Decker PureOptics Verve is a reasonable LED lamp. The reason this lamp is getting 4 stars instead of 3 is the fact that it only uses 3 watts of power at full brightness and it gives off a significant amount of light The materials of the lamp do not feel very high quality. Everything is plastic, including the hinges. There is a little bit of play in the hinge and joints but everything will stay put when sitting on the desk. I don't think this lamp would survive a fall or drop. The instructions strongly warn the user not to pick it up by anything other than the base - and this is probably good advice. The main arm is hollow. There is a single power button that is heat touch sensitive on the front of the base. Tap it and it will toggle on or off using the last mode it was set to. There are two modes - dim and bright. You can change the mode by long pressing the power button. The bright mode is sufficiency and the dim mode is still rather bright. The color temperature is a little on the cold side casting a blue tint. The arms articulate well but there are limits. The lamp can be folded down into a reasonably small footprint, but again the joints and design seem a little clumsy. The arms can be arranged so that the light is casting down or up at about a 225 degree angle which would provide enough light to navigate a room. The phone holder is a nice touch but is simply a cutout in the plastic base. The USB port on the side is an appreciated feature allowing you to charge your phone while it is in an upright portrait aspect. Overall this is a decent LED lamp, and at a budget price might serve it's purpose. But this is not something that you would want displayed on a executive desk by any means. At 3 watts it may help you save a few pennies on an electric bill or be useful when electrical capacity is rationed.

Nice daylight, very efficient.
this is a nice desk lamp IMO.... but, ONLY if you put a lot of value in the Daylight temp light the LED's emit. This is not an easy task for LED's... I checked it with my color meter, and it registered 5600K, so its true daylight. This alters the way colors appear...they will appear the same as when viewed outside in daylight, not true with most desk lamps with filament type bulbs, at either 2300K (yellowish) or Fluorescent that are foten 7000K (bluish). LED's have the BEST Lumen to watt ratio, so if you run the light often, its NOT an energy hog, and, its does not release much heat vs. other types of light sources, as LED's are very efficient. The light has two levels of light intensity, I would prefer 3, but acceptable. The build quality is good, not great...its all plastic. Overall, u are paying for a nice daylight balanced desk lamp with very efficient and LONG lasting bulbs. People under estimate the value of this, not an easy task at this price point....you will prob. NEVER have to replace the LED's as the life span of LED's is measured in the hundred of thousands of hours.... vs. 2k hours of typical filament bulbs...
