Convenient Little Sweeper

We bought this because we have a room with hardwood floors, a low-height area rug, a litterbox, and two cats who spend a lot of time tracking cat litter around in this room. Cats who hate the vacuum cleaner. Sure, it was okay using a broom and dust pan for the hardwood every day, but that's not effective on the area rug. Even our smaller hand-held vacuum is too loud and scary for the cats to tolerate. I remember my parents and grandparents having a little carpet sweeper similar to this one, and I am so glad that I did remember because this little sweeper is the perfect solution to our fur + tracked litter issue. It was easy to assemble and picks up tracked litter, cat fur, little pieces of cardboard from the cat scratcher and even stray pieces of 'cat condo carpet' pieces. It is effective on the hardwood floor and on the area rug and most importantly: it is quiet and doesn't scare the cats! It is also really lightweight, a bonus for me.

Does the job

This sweeper is okay for an occasional light job. It picks up really well, IF you have the "right" rug or carpet. I've tried it on different thickness of rugs and it does better with some than others. Too high of a plush, and it'll take extra effort to get it rolling. Too thin, and it won't pick up a whole lot. I also don't think it'll last very long. The handle is connected to the sweeper by a very small welded (maybe glued) section, and I mean really small. I suspect that if your rug is too thick, it'll require extra effort to get it rolling and the handle will snap. So, it's good for light jobs as it does pick up quite a bit, but the handle is a bit flimsy, so you kind of have to be careful. I also don't think the handle is too short. I'm 5-7 and it works fine for me. Another reviewer also made this suggestion... the top of the handle screws on. You just have to push it in and screw it. Overall, this is an okay product for the price point and what it does.

Incredible portable sweeper

This sweeper works amazingly good for the price. Picks up anything from Douglas for needles to people/ dog hair. Only draw back is the handle is not long enough for tall people. (Why not add just one more tube section (comes with three one screw together to make the handle) and let people decide their own length .). Deduct one point for the lack of this short handle for tall people.

Great job on my large area rugs

Keeps my large area rug clean between having to use the vacuum. Had to super glue the 2 sections of handle to stay on - they kept separating in spite of being threaded to screw on.

Sweep me off of my feet, Bissell

My mom had a carpet sweeper back in the day, so when I moved into an apartment where using the handy vac at night isn't allowed the first purchase was a carpet sweeper. It is great for picking up those annoying bits of paper, the remnants of cat scratchers, and all manner of other little stuff that drops on the floor. Best of all, it is quiet. Not something you would use for deep cleaning, but definitely good for a quick touch-up.

Bissell vacuum

I use this in my classroom and my kids love it! But I gave it 4 stars bc within one day one of the poles lost its grip when you screw it in so I had to take it off luckily my students are 5-6 years old so it can be small lol

Fun to use

My toddlers love helping me vacuum with this carpet sweeper. I was pleasantly surprised how much it picks up. Not a vacuum replacement. Handle broke the first day of use, which was ok for my kids since they're short. Bissell provided a replacement handle under the warranty. Would buy another one so the kids don't fight.

Great product

Great product. The downside I have with this sweeper is that I wish the handle could be a little longer. Other that it was easy to put together.

Awesome

We are so pleased with this sweeper. We used one at a function and decided to look for one. We can not believe how much this picks up on carpet with no power. It's incredible. We are shocked every time we go over the carpets. We have a good central vacuum, but this is so easy and quick and effective picking up. The only complaint is that the handle seems a bit flimsy, and it may be a tad difficult to push over thick carpet. But the unit works incredibly good, considering it is only manual power. It picks up so much hair and lint. So if you have someone in the house with long hair you will have to check the brush after every use as that darn long hair gets wrapped so tight in any rotating brush.

Great for a quick touch up when there is not time to vacuum.

It was a bit smaller than I had thought but works well. It could even be used instead of a pricey vacuum if you have a small place. I use it for touch ups and love it. Good purchase.

Broke in first week of use

The roller brush will not stay in. I've popped it back in dozens of times, and it will just fall out after 10-30 seconds of use. Me and my spouse are extremely disappointed. It was purchased for the ease of doing spot treatments on our carpets, but the effort of putting it back together after every use, and most of the time, not even being able to complete the cleanup makes it a 0/10.

I love it!

Not your grandmother's Bissell carpet sweeper. The size and colour are definitely modern, but it works just like my grandmother's old Bissell. I have two black cats and a pale pineapple coloured carpet on the stairs and living room. The carpet predated black cat adoption month. This little machine picks up grit from the tidy that a broom won't get, and it picks up the cat fur that makes my carpet look more tweed than solid by mid-week. It is lightweight, fits almost flat to get under the sofa, and empties easily into the skinny Umbra waste bins I like. It works well on both cut pile carpet and flat hooked runners, and on vinyl tile. I'm going to buy another one for upstairs (4 level house) I love the lime/bug green colour which is so much better than the maroon the ancient ones came in.
