Works so much better than a drill for driving bolts!

I always used a drill for everything, but after watching a few YouTube videos about drivers, I decided to buy this one and I am so glad I did. It definitely has some overlap but serves a different function than the drill, especially when driving lag bolts. It's a back saver and I'm glad to have it in the toolbox.

Screws so well it could own an adult website

I was naive in the world of drills, miserably and unknowing trudging through life using cheap regular drills. Stripping screws and crying myself to sleep (unrelated). But I began hearing whispers of something better. After perusing a dozen forums about hammer drills and getting distracted by tornado videos for an hour, I found out this is a good bang for your buck. Cheap enough that my wife won't make me look for money under vending machines. Quality enough that using the drill won't make me want to use it on myself. It's does everything a drill should do.. .drill, and it even makes a cool sound at the end. Secret bonus??? Long story short, good buy

Packs a punch for its size

I love this impact driver. I had an older cordless drill that I normally would drive screws with, but over time it started to struggle. This thing makes quick work of any screw or smaller lags. I was even able to remove a lug from my wife's car, though that's not why I got this. I'm using a 5Ah 20V battery to power this.

What a beast (even setting 1 serves some applications)

What a beast of an impact driver. Built a large garage shelf over the weekend and sunk about a hundred screws into dozens of 2x4 lumber. Didn't even need to change the battery (ok this part should go towards the battery review). The impact driver itself is really nice and still feels compact even though it is the most powerful one in Dewalt's 1/4 inch section . Lots of torque! Setting 1 has barely any power but that's not an issue since it is meant for fine tuned driving of smaller screws. - EDIT: setting 1 actually works great for furniture assembly! While I'm usually not the type of person to attack an Ikea shelf with an impact driver, I tried it to see what the complaints about setting 1 from other reviews are. The result, it actually works just as intended. The driver drove the cam lock bolts perfectly flush into the particleboard without engaging the impact. EDIT END - With setting 2 and 3 on the other hand it almost feels like the driver wants to eat your screws for breakfast, lots of power and fasteners are set in seconds. I mostly use setting 2 all the time, more than enough speed and torque for most jobs. Love the added light, my old impact didn't have this - very useful. Overall pretty happy and will hopefully get years of use out of this impact driver.

A good driver, but I took away 1 star because

as many reviewers mentioned, the chuck wobbles when bits spin without a load. With bit extension, the wobbling becomes annoying, but wobbling is minimal when loaded (driving screws). To be realistic, this is not a professional model and I won't use it on very long screws. It does, successfully accomplish all my DIY projects, some using just the lowest speed. This is the first DeWATT tool I bought that was made in Mexico (yes, and price has lowered). The previous ones are all made in US. I wish the Mexican version will last as long as the American version. Consider the price, I recommend it for the general users.

Honestly, worse than the 20v MAX standard impact that comes with the larger kits.

I’ve burned 3 of these in the last 2 years and still have my original (2017) 20v MAX that comes with Most 5 tool kits ( not brushless, not XR ). Not only have they burnt faster on me, it would seem they don’t have as much torque, and also the hand grip is much larger on the brushless model, it doesn’t seem to matter much for everyday (3 seasons) use, but with the winter and having 2 gloves on, the larger grip gets tiring on the hand. If I had the choice (which I can’t find) I would be buying the 20v MAX over the brushless XR ANYDAY!

Brand spanking new impact, god bless. I was worried I was going to receive a knock off or a used impact, but I’m perfectly satisfied. The price is amazing compared to going elsewhere, it’s unfortunate but in this day and age, how can anyone compete with amazons prices. Will be replacing my hammer drill asap EDIT: After 2 weeks of use the chuck seems to be becoming loose and has difficulty letting bits go. I did not notice the surface rust inside the chuck, but it’s very noticeable. I’m disappointed and unsatisfied with the quality of this impact. Knocking off 2 stars
