Works very well and...

it feels solid. Not cheap plastic. It has weight to it and the magnet is strong. The only issue I've had is it jumps from the higher power to lower power on it's own after a few minutes. If you're looking for a strong light you can just stick to metal and aim for more than 2 minutes, this won't work. If you want a handheld that you can look at paint for a minute and move on, it's perfect.

Recomended from an avid detailer

So I have used this Astro Branded color match light for about 4 months and on 2 full paint corrections and a few spot corrections. When I purchased it there were only about 5 reviews on Amazon which were good but limited. As of today there are 36 reviews that are mostly glowing and for good reason. This light is actually marketed more for bodyshops to replicate natural sun light and aid in paint matching. I can however attest that it does a great job for spotting paint imperfections most notably swirls, spider trails, acid rain spots, ect. For the price point it works amazingly well especially considering that similar lights cost close to twice as much. What sets this light apart: 2 brightness settings Rechargeable with a base station much like a cordless phone. Features a charge indicator bar. Folding hanger hook. Has a magnetic base on the light. This last feature is very handy as you can place the light on panels with an adjustable head so that you can focus the light to the area you are working on for paint correction or under the hood of a car when doing engine work. Once fully charged I have been able use this off and on for a good 4 hours without running out of charge. If your in the market for a good swirl finder light or even a shop light with the magnetic base and small retractable hanger hook for less than $70 it is hard to beat. It also has a nice weight to it and feels good in the hand. If I had a complaint it would be that the base has little weight so you have to hold the base with one hand while pulling the light out with the other.

Great light for those concerned with automotive paint repair quality

I currently work as quality inspector for automotive repairs and this has made my job much easier. I used to use the "Nebo Big Larry" and while I love that light (and still use it for general illumination purposes as the battery life is longer) it does not even compare to this one. With the COB LED I would have to scan every square inch I was inspecting but with the Astro i can check the whole panel from 2 feet away. If someone was forcing me to find a negative for this light I would have to say the charging situation. A full charge lasts me two days of inspecting cars (not upset about that at all as the nebo usually runs through three double AA's in a week) and I usually inspect 10-20 per day but the charger could have easily been a micro usb rather than a charging stand. I carry micro usb cables (this light has a usb wall adapter, a micro usb cable, and stand) but now I also have to keep track of the base... The shop guys are not happy I have this. If it could only make dealing with the shop guys easier I would love my job LOL.

It’s a tough little light woth a strong magnet

This is a great light. I was installing a supercharger on my Jeep and accidentally left it on the front bumper between the front grill and my winch. I didn’t realize it was there for a month, drove it dailey through rain and shine. The magnet held and it was still charged to around 50%. It still takes a charge and works great. If your irresponsible like me and accidentally leave it stuck on your car chances are that it will be right where you left it and in perfect working condition the next time you wash the vehicle find it. I use it when working on my vehicles and for detailing. Great brightness and reveals paint imperfections like a champ. 3.5 year update: this is an awesome light!! Still running strong and if it ever dies I will buy another one. I have absolutely abused this thing. I accidentally left it under my jeep stuck to the frame and drove it 50 miles and guess what. It was still there. 100% irresponsible and 100% satisfied.

Great "Sunshine" Light for auto detailing

I received my shipment, unpacked the item, found that a crucial part was missing (the 120v charging pod for the usb charging cable), read the instructions. I tried charging the unit without the charging pod by hooking it up to my computer. Left it overnight - the unit did not charge. Turning on the unit started the unit to buzz loudly, and the switch did not always work. I reported it, requested a replacement to be sent, and returned the unit. I received the replacement item the day after I requested a replacement. Unboxed it, found everything to be included, immediately tried to charge, perfect; next, hit the on switch and instantly the light was on - not like the first unit I had. The light operates perfectly, changes between very, very bright and just very bright. It works great, and it charges perfectly. I'm very pleased with it and would recommend it vs a Scangrip that costs 3x as much and produces the very same result.

Picks up every defect

I’m a detailer and picked this up to have some extra lighting around my garage. This is great for every general job you could think of given the brightness. However, it truelly excels in picking up scratches, swirls, ceramic coating high spots and holograms in paint. Before purchasing this, I used my Husky LEDS, the sun, and my phone light. I’m scared to look at cars I’ve done in the past as this little guys picks up far more defects than my husky lights on all colors. Buffer trails are especially more prevalent with this light. They stand out exceptionally well, where as with my husky lights buffer trails would just be a slight haze. Battery life is sufficient to get you through a correction on a car given you don’t keep it on for the entire duration. I am extremely satisfied and surprised by the quality. I don’t see any need spend twice the money on a scangrip Not to mention it comes with a one year warranty:P If you have restricted space, ditch the bulky huskys and use this. You won’t be disappointed.

Love it! Does exactly what I want.

I honestly don’t believe there is a better light for paint inspection. Ordered from the US to the UK took a gamble and I couldn’t be happier. Only slight problem is the wall plug is wrong, obviously, but not a big deal.

Great piece of kit

Sounds silly bit if you are trying to match or check colour on anything you needs this pocket sunshine device,, because thats what is really is a way of illuminating something in daylight as opposed to artificial light.

Falta de control de calidad

Compre este producto por los comentarios y calificaciones, desgraciadamente a mi no me fue bien. El empaque y caja estaban bien, el producto también se ve bien en apariencia y pareciera robusto, desafortunadamente llegó dañado ya que no funciona. Se necesita cargar el producto durante 4 horas antes de usarlo y al intentar cargar el producto, este no carga ni muestra señales de vida, y por consiguiente es inservible. No sé si lo que está fallando sea el cargador o el producto. Desgraciadamente esto pasa frecuentemente con artículos hechos en China. Lógicamente solicitaré la devolución para comprar la marca Scangrip que si está probada y reconocida, aunque me cueste más el producto, vale la pena a estar perdiendo el tiempo con esto, que creo que hasta para la garantía o reparación, hay que enviarlo de nuevo a USA, mejor algo que tenga representación en mi país.

Well worth the money! Amazing light!

Awesome light. 2 brightness slevels are great for light and dark colored cars. Light battery lasts forever. I've gone an entire day of polishing and still had 40 percent left. Charger plugs in thru a supplied USB and wall adapter. Has a magnet in the handle to hold it in certain areas or angles. Was considering the scangrip light at twice the price but couldn't justify spending the money. This one at just under 100 is well worth.
