Old school
I’m 58 yrs old with two grown sons. I used to use this on them back when they were babies. I am now a grandmother and I don’t like using the electronic suction machines. This item is quick, quiet and effective.

Better than most aspirators
I like this over hospital aspirator (and other long, thin tipped ones) & snot sucker type aspirators (like Nose Frida & those without filters) but prefer NeilMed NasaBulb by Dr Mehta over this one for several reasons. The tip in NeilMed is soft silicone while this one is hard. Secondly, the bulb is clear in NeilMed and you can easily see whether it's clean or not. It's worth mentioning that it's designed that the snot is not supposed to travel inside the bulb so theoretically you'll only end up cleaning the removable tip so it's great that bulb doesn't need to be washed frequently. Thirdly, NeilMed can be sterilized by boiling, microwave and other disinfectant methods. I love the design of this one though and can't complain much. I've had one very similar to this one but the bulb was very hard. This particular one has a soft bulb and works well clearing out sinus passages without irritating the inside of nostrils. Reason why I didn't like Nose Frida is because I constantly fell apart during use and I eventually lost the parts. It doesn't stay together and it's hard to make sure the parts are together during use. Also, my squirmy son ended up with bloody nose when I used it. I've tried several snot suckers without filters and ended up with a mouthful of snot and immediately got sick myself. I think the nose sucker types don't protect you from your child's germs. So I switched to wide tipped aspirators & will not go back.

Weak and ineffective. Buy something else.
Little or no suction. Tip fits too loose in the bulb to create a seal. Pass on this, buy something else.

Barely Works
I chose this because I needed a bulb syringe to use with the generic Debrox-type ear drops. My local store and Amazon was out of the kits at the time of my purchase. I hadn't used one regularly (except a debrox kit maybe ten years ago) since my adult child was a baby and before that when in the medical field. I didn't know there was a huge difference in quality and just bought the cheapest one that could be delivered next day. Big mistake. It took minutes to reinflate the bulb on the ear syringe. That would not work with an impatient baby or toddler. Luckily I am an adult, and waited. I got a bit of suction but not enough to use for a flush. Just enough to get a bit of the excess solution off of my ear. I do not recommend this and suggest buying locally or spending more on better product.

Nasal aspirator bad, ear syringe is ok
The nasal aspirator is of no use. It does not provide enough suction to collect very much of anything, let alone your baby's snots. The spring back of the bulb is much too slow to be effective. The ear syringe is fine, warm water can be sucked into it and a smooth steady flow can be achieved through the flexible tip. If you want 2 items that work, do not get this. If you only want the ear syringe, it is fine.
