Great size for a fat cal.
The distance from bowl to dispenser is great

Rather small
The unit does not leak but has a small capacity. Our 12lb dog can drain it in 2 days.

Works Well!
I had a 5-gallon LeBistro water dispenser for many years and loved it! I managed to drop the bottle, full of water, and broke it. Ugh! Even though I could have bought another bottle, I decided that since it is so old and I wasn't even sure if it was BPA-free, it was time for a new dispenser for our new puppy. I didn't even realize the base comes apart for cleaning for the first 3 times I cleaned and refilled the bottle - no one seems to like to include directions for anything anymore!! - but I finally figured out how it came apart. That part seems flimsy to me, so not sure how durable it will end up being in the long run. Hence, the 4-star rating. I also don't like how the water bottle gets put onto the base. I have tried putting the base on upside down and turning over quickly, but that is pretty awkward with 3 gallons of water inside. I usually turn the water bottle over onto the sitting base, and it is fairly easy to do without spilling (I bought a short plastic storage container to sit the dispenser in for catching water spills and dog dribbles), but you need to turn it until you can tug a bit and realize it is locked in place. This is for ease of dogs not tipping the bottle over. Two prior dogs were good at doing that but only when it was empty, to let us know they needed water.

The end to parched pooches
This is our third one. The other two died because after a couple of years the guy responsible for cleaning the thing (just WHO might that be?) forgets the plastic bottle CAN'T GO IN THE DISHWASHER. NO, RG, NO! Turns into a Dali bottle. Pretty, yet useless. I have had the problem with the bottle being full but no water coming out. It's intermittent, but seems to happen most often after I wash the thing with soap. Maybe. Hard to make it happen when I'm trying. Fixable by tapping the bottle with my foot and standing there until I'm sure it's working right. But hate to do that. Will post if I figure out what the issue is. I have a smaller one. It's easy to pick up the whole thing and bring it to the sink to fill, bottle and base both. I rinse or clean the base while the bottle is filling. I assemble it right at the sink, upside down, and carry the whole schlemiel over to the Dog Station. Then I tip it over. No mess, or at least after you figure out the right way to flip it without the base unscrewing. But I kind of wonder if you can do that with the big sizes. Get this. You and your dogs will be happy. But don't put it in the dishwasher <=/ .

Mixed feelings but it works
I purchased the 1 gallon tank, and it’s about 1ft tall. It’s convenient because I travel a lot and this can handle my 2 large cats for 7-10 days, and it does what it says. The major drawback is the bowl design - there is an area in the back of the bowl that is for some reason open to collect unusable water that is very hard to clean or dump out. And the bowl isn’t as non-stick as other plastic water dispenser bows, so food and dirt is harder to clean out (I clean it every time it runs out of water before refilling). Also, the locking mechanism is a little difficult to get into place (after a month of having this I still am not good at it), but it’s sturdy. And just like any gravity water bowl, it CAN overflow if you bump or shake it or something, until the cats drink from it and the level goes back to normal (that’s just physics and will happen with any of these gravity water bowls). Despite all of that, it’s seems sturdy and does what it claims.

It's OK though the new design is NOT THE BEST
I was hesitant to buy this after reading all the negative reviews about the new design. But I have 2 labs and definitely needed a bigger bowl as I was refilling it daily. It is heavy once fully filled. But not so hard like other reviews were stating once I found the trick. This is what I did. I filled it completely and closed the cap. Its heavy and you need to be careful carrying it to the base. Turn it gently sideways and finally upside down on top of the base. Water will pour out once sideways but not bad enough to make a mess on the floor. At least I never had the issue. Once I properly place the bottle on top of the base (without aligning it or anything) I gently rotate it until it finally drops in place with the groove/lock design. Then rotate it little more to lock it in place. That's it. No hazzle, no spills, no mess. Yeah you need to be strong to carry it around when full and especially turning it upside down as it takes time. But if you do it right, the locking design is not that bad, though not required. I am giving only 4 stars just because of that.

Le Bistro Gravity Waterer
The product works however, the design and build quality have changed since a previous (two years ago) purchase. The latest product doesn't appear to be as robust but, on saying that, I have had no issues with accidental flooding - something which, as part of my research before committing to purchase the product, was mentioned.
