Awesome sponge for filtration!

Is I've written for another review of these sponges, I really appreciate API for selling sponge by PPI. I love using these for anything from canister filters to HOBS. I like to go up in density from 20ppi upwards until I get to fine filter pads, then lots of biological media, then Seachem Purigen. Or, do the GreenAqua way and go straight from 30ppi to bio media, Purigen, to lastly fine pads. Crystal clear water every single time.

Great Products

I'm going to copy this review for several of their products, since they all work together and I'm equally pleased with all of them. I use these filters with a filstar xp3 filter to keep an approximately 100 gallon pond clean. There are 5 turtles, lots of fish (since the turtles would rather not work for their food), a rather large plecostomus and the occasional frog in the pond. With some assistance from the plecostomus, I've never had an issue keeping the water clear; even in the summer when I have to add water to it at least every other day. I use the ammonia remove pouch, carbon pouch, bio chem-zorb pouch, bio chem-stars and the 20 and 30 ppi filters. Anything that can handle that many turtles definitely deserves 5 stars.

Very Nice Filter Material.

Used this to make a custom filter for clearing aquarium water. This foam was used as a first stage filter layer. Pros - High quality foam. Easy to cut to desired shape. Firm enough to hold its shape even in high flow filter use. Cons - None Overall - Very versatile foam that can be used for many filter applications as it comes in two types of PPI (Pores Per Inch) formulations (20 or 30 PPI). Highly recommended.

Shocked!!

When I first bought my filtration system I didn't read on the package that this product needed to be changed every 3 months. I'm too embarrassed to say how long before I finally realized that I was WELL OVERDUE!!! lol Anywho very good product and by all means PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS UNLIKE THIS KNUCKLEHEAD that didn't :)

Consistent consistent consistent

API is very consistent in their products. Having 110 gallon aquarium freshwater mind you I rely heavily on products that are consistent in their manufacturing an API does not disappoint. I have never received a defective item from API before I love my fish just as I love my dogs and that says a lot so I trust their lives to API

Rena XP2 filter

We have a 55 Gal tank with a Rena XP2 filter unit. From bottom to top we use 2-20s then 2 30s, in the next basket it's the activated charcoal then the bio chem stars with two Micro filtration pads to finish it off. Works extremely well. Change the filters ever 2-3 months and have never had any problems even though we tend to overfeed :-(
