Works wonders

Other than the occasional downfall of rain getting into it it works great it is waterproof but you have to smack the water out of it to make sure you can talk through it clearly

Awesome sound!

Signal reports of my transmissions gave my audio as "very clear and full tone". The sound quality is superior to the built-in speaker in the Yaesu VX-6. This mic is a little larger than I expected, but great finish quality.

Good bang for my bucks

This speaker microphone works great with my standard horizon hx870 radio just remember after inserting the plug into the radio to turn it all the way down on the threads how to make a watertight seal I work in a ships engine room and needed to be able to hear my radio above the engines running placing the mic close to my ear helps

Speaker Mic makes working with your HT easier

If you are considering a speaker mic for your HT (handy talky), they are worth the expense. The Yaesu Vertx mic is rugged and submersible. I have used it in the rain with no issues. A speaker mic allows you to clip the unit near your shoulder on a jacket or on a radio belt. You can hear the incoming traffic, and you can transmit by pressing the button and turning your head. There is no worry that you are going to drop your radio while trying to hold it and go about your work. Not having a mobile 2M radio, I use my HT in my car, and the speaker mic allows me to secure the radio in the passenger seat and still talk.

Excellent water-proof speaker mic

Excellent water-proof speaker mic! I have it paired with my Yaesu FT-270R. The receive and transmit audio is noticeably better than the stock components! Audio level is very clear with no distortion and LOUD. Especially if you clip it near your head. I was impressed with the signal report on the local repeater. The microphone feels really nice and solid in my hand. You can tell it's built to last. I plan on using the microphone when I am backpacking, caving, and geocaching. Worth every cent.

So far so good. I took this out on the kayak a few times connected to a standard horizon hx290 vhf radio. The connection was easy. the unit performed as it should have. And washing it down was not a problem. just hosed it off. I did not really test the submersible rating (thankfully). But having a waterproof unit adds peace of mind and makes clean up simple.
