A must have for today's world
Works great, a real plus to have to double check your levels after going out. Many people don't understand how out of control strict DUI laws are becoming....they are getting totally out of control in many states now....we are becoming like a police state and its quite scary in places where you don't even have to be .08 to get a DUI...it can be left to the discretion of the officer and also many states are starting to enact .05 YES .05 The great thing about this device is that you can learn through the use how levels quickly change, and go down dramatically as time passes. That way you can understand your personal tolerance and metabolic rates, so that you can be sure that when you leave, you are well below .08 after a nice evening out. Getting to be a necessity to combat the zealots who don't know when to stop and have a little balance in life, and when you start talking .05 you are definitely in the area of ridiculousness. Don't know what others are talking about as being bulky, it fits nicely into the carry case and is quite compact. It fits very nicely into the corner of your glove compartment. Startup time is reasonable, results accurate. Like many have said don't use it right after alcohol consumption. Have some water wait a few minutes then use it.

User's beware, you will register positive even if not drinking alcohol
I filed a lawsuit against my ex trying to obtain reasonable visitation with my two children, and the Guardian Ad Litem assigned to my case recommended alcohol testing after each possession period. My ex acquired this unit to test me - no alcohol consumption is allowed while I’m with the kids. Of course Mommy can be dead drunk any time, but that’s another story. On four separate occasions the unit has reported a false positive (non-zero) reading, and each time I have had to beg to be re-tested to establish a zero reading. I eventually bought a duplicate unit to carry with me as insurance during possessions and discovered that a variety of non-alcoholic substances will set it off, for example after a tic-tac breath mint the unit registered 0.08 which is the legal limit in Texas for drunk driving. On another occasion it registered 0.04 after I had a glass of tea. One small sip of wine will cause the unit to register 0.40 or comatose. A few times the drunk warning light has gone off while the reading was low, like 0.02 or 0.03. In its defense the user’s manual states that nothing should be in your mouth for 20 minutes prior to the test, of course my ex did not inform me of that. Beware if this unit is being used for any legal or enforcement application, it’s not up to the task, and you will eventually fail somehow. My ex intends to acquire a different breathalyzer for future use.

Seems to work great
I purchased this as both a test for those nights after extended dinners to better understand if driving is a good idea or not and as a novelty purchase. It seems to be pretty accurate. The key is definitely time between your last drink and blowing. Blow right after a drink and you're going to be way high (which is probably better than reading low). How it compares to a legit cops breathalyzer, not sure; but it does give a good enough read in my book. What has been very interesting is to see what you blow after a hard night of drinks. I was amazed to see how close to not legal I've been even after a good 8 hours sleep. As for novelty, everyone loves it! I'd purchase it again. Use and play with it but please do so safely.

Also I would strongly recommend a good mouth rinse and gargle with water before ...
It does what it needs to—give an approximation of a person's blood alcohol level, but it is sufficiently variable on repeat testing within a few minutes of an earlier test, that I would not trust it, if my blood alcohol lever was close to the legal limit. If one wanted to avoid a DUI, if stopped, they probably should not drive if their measured breathalyzer alcohol level was over 40 [80 is legally intoxicated]. Also I would strongly recommend a good mouth rinse and gargle with water before using after drinking as, even a tiny amount of beer, sine, or spirits remaining in the mouth will lead to a reading compatable with gross intoication, even if the person's true blood alcohol level is at or close to zero.

Okay
Says it's accurate up to .01, but I'd say it's accurate up to about .02 at best. You must wait at least 20 minutes before your last drink or you will get wildly inaccurate results, which the manual states in its defense. I bought this as a party favor, but it's not real user friendly for that purpose. Great tool is your want to test if someone is fit to drive if they haven't had a drink for 20-30 minutes, but not real fun just to see how drunk your friend/guest is just for s**t's and giggles, which is why I bought the thing. Bottom line is that the device works, but is not as accurate as it states and it takes some abstinence to be "accurate."

Super accurate
I've used it over a dozen times now. It's very easy to use and gives an accurate reading.

know what the police know
The AlcoMate Prestige is the best product for the money. Cheaper units require recalibration. More expensive units are not necessary for individual use. All drinkers should have a method for measuring of their blood-alcohol levels. The AlcoMate Prestige is easy to use, small enough to travel in a purse or glove box, and accurate. You wouldn't want to drive a car without a speedometer. Sure, you might be able to reasonably guess your speed, based on other cars on the road and other factors. The police will measure your speed using a digital meter. So of course, you expect to equip your car with a similar device to know if you are legal or if you are breaking the law. The ramifications of driving while under the influence of alcohol are far greater than the ramifications of speeding. If you drink alcohol and drive, don't go without this important gauge.

Falla del sensor.
Lleva unos 4 usos y me apareció esta leyenda. Creo que significa que el sensor no funciona. ¿Me ayudan por favor con la devolución?
