I was scared but took a chance

I was afraid to use this air-dry clay because I don't have a lot of experience with this medium. I saw reviews that said it cracked easy while drying. I got it ND MADE A PLAQUE for my wall. I laid it down flat to dry and flipped it every few hours with a folded paper towel on both sides and I have no cracks at all. I'm not saying these other reviews did it wrong. I'm just saying what I did.

Love it

It’s great clay, it reminds me of pottery clay so I worked it as if it was and it’s going amazing! The right amount of water is key. Definitely not for beginners but great if you’re experienced with pottery clay. This is the cap of a mushroom ashtray I’m making with the clay. Lots of water and spinning the piece as you sculpt like you would making pottery is the best I’ve found. I’m using the front part of the clay packaging as my clay plate for easy spinning and removing. The excess clay can be stored in a jar for a later date just know like other clay it’ll dry faster once the air hits it after being in storage for awhile so you’ll automatically need to add a little bit of water as you go to be able to kneed the clay again. Once I’m done with this piece I’ll wipe down the plastic to use as a tray once more and keep going until I need more clay because the plastic it’s the easiest to use for drying.

HONEST REVIEW

The media could not be loaded. I had originally bought a different clay and it was terrible it fell apart easily and took forever to dry but then I bought this one in hopes that it would be a little bit better than the one I had bought and it most definitely was it definitely saved me I made this small piece for my boyfriend's birthday and it took about two and a half days to fully dry it's very nice it does dry hard it was very easy to work with there was the tiniest bit of cracking down the heart but it was a very easy fix I'm not sure if the cracking was my fault from transferring it while drying but it wasn't a terrible thing to happen I just mix some water and clay and paint it over it and it was ready after reading some reviews I was hesitant to buy it but it did not let me down and overall I do highly recommend for any beginners I recommend using water to make it easier to work with but it wasn't that hard of a project like it was compared to the other one that I tried out I hope anyone else takes this and has the same or better experience with this clay like I did 9.5/10

Its good for beginners

I bought this clay in a pinch to make jewelry dishes, unfortunately it wasn't really strong and some of the dishes broke. It might be good for someone who wants to start working with clay but wouldn't suggest it for any heavy duty projects.

Better for people more experienced working with clay.

I never worked with clay other than crayola airdry clay before. It dries pretty fast. It was a trial and error thing with me. I reccomend looking up how to work with clay. Things I learned from trial and error: - Put the clay youre not using in a ziplock and remove as much air as you can. - Keep the clay youre working with moist but dont put too much water or its going to crack even worse. - For small cracks wait until its fully dry to seal them. - For large cracks I think your work is going to have to be scrapped. - Make air dry clay slip for merging pieces. - if you add too much moisture into the clay it will crack. - Its very hard to put wet clay onto an already dry piece of clay, when the wet clay dries it will probably just fall off or be very weakly attatched.

Over priced

I purchased this item for a gift for my daughter thinking it would be a big chunk of clay. Then when I got it I saw how small it was and was very disappointed. I found a similarly sized package of air dry clay at the dollar store for $1.75. Way more value there. In order to return this item I would lose more than half the cost. Not worth it.

Cracked very badly

I tried to make a pen holder and used the clay on a glass cup. I covered all the initial cracks. But not even 8 hours later everything cracked. Other products that i worked with did not crack at all.

Inspiring to play with

Easy to work with and not intimidating at all. The clay is moist. Shaping is easier than expected and the clay held its shape well. Finding the right level of moisture to add while shaping and sMoothing takes some work. Making edges too thin resulted in massive cracks on my first attempt taught me to keep things thicker. Second attempt hasn’t happened yet but I expect improved results.
