This is the best backpack I have ever had.
My first one lasted 5+ years as my EDC and everything bag. It was often loaded heavy. Occasionally 50 lbs or more. I am on my second one. I have 5 others that are packed as emergency evacuation bags (or BOB) for my family. I've used them camping, traveling, EDC, flea market and gun show shopping. They have never failed me. other than the one I just wore completely out. Straps never tore. Zippers were sometimes hard to use, but never broke. There is always one close by me, I carry it everywhere. At 58 years old now, I've used many backpacks in my life.

Excellent price for a very durable and simple backpack.
This backpack is nearly identical to the VISM by NCStar - CBB2911 ($31.51 on Amazon.com) except for an extra panel that encloses the backpack straps, clip on base strap plastic fasteners (look fragile) instead of sewn in, and a full perimeter zipper to expand the backpack by an inch or so. Otherwise they are exactly the same in material, design, and stitching. My son kicked around the VISM-CBB2911 for 3-4 years and then gave it to me. It has held up well. I bought this to use as a carry on personal luggage because the backpack straps can be tucked away neatly so as not to intrude on the luggage inspection machines. So far, the only thing I can see that might give a problem is the cheap plastic fasteners and anchor points for the base of the straps where it meets the base. Most "modern" backpacks are made of thin nylon type material and the zippers do not open all the way. And, the main compartment is small because they are partitioned for laptops, etc. To me, this is a lot more versatile and 1000x more durable type of material. Price not paid for style and fancy colors.

This is the one!
Perfect size for an airline carry on or 3 days in the bush. Non metallic zippers and buckles for stealth; actually better quality than expected; EXPLORER has a new customer! Not recommended as an exterior for a HALO insertion, but once on terra...good to go! SEMPER FIDELIS, GROUND POUNDERS!!

I like the pack for daily use
Overall, I like the pack for daily use. It has plenty of compartments and appears to a built fairly solid. However, it is not heavy-duty enough, in my opinion, to be used for camping or in the field. I intend on using this to carry personal items while in duty. A few observations: 1. Some stitching stocks out and it is apparent that burned it to get remove it. Not obvious, but you can see if you look close enough. 2. The MOLLE webbing is very light duty. 3. Shoulder straps can store inside the pack itself, so it can be mounted on a ruck sack or something similar. Bottom line: it looks good, is suitable for moderate use, but not built for hard field use.

Solid gear bag
Given that the cost was so low I won't go below 4 stars, but if you want something to go on a serious ruck with then think about spending a bit more money. Frankly speaking it is just plain uncomfortable. Yes it has an abundance of adjustable straps but that doesn't account for the fact that the main compartment seem doesn't line up with the bottom of the back support. This makes it so your load is always sagging back. Having said all that, it's been extremely durable and suits my needs of lugging around pt gear perfectly. Yes for storage, no for ruck.

First impression
I haven't really used it yet but I'm quite happy with my first impression it seems to be of good quality. I did notice the chest and waist straps were a little short and anyone with a beefy chest or waist would not get them closed. I'm 6"1' @ 195lbs 44" chest and 34" waist and they just barely close but only if I do not wear a jacket or coat. The main compartment is spacious and the side pockets are nice for a compass, matches and other small items you may need on a hike. The larger of the two rear pockets is large enough to carry a hand gun if needed.

Great backpack for the money
Great backpack for the money. Well built/sturdy and looks good. The straps need to be modernized with more/higher quality padding and ergonomically shaped like the higher end backpacks. Also, it would be nice if the manufactured would put a few inside compartments for small things such as keys, pens, flash-drives, etc. Overall its a great backpack for the money - Its certainly no 5.11 backpack but its not 200 dollars either.

Perfect all purpose backpack for civilians and for military.
This tactical backpack has it all !!! It has storage pockets for my sunglasses, ammo clips, classified op paperwork, rations and all other gear for whatever op. It is also very handy for all civilian purposes as well. I use it for my college books and everything else that I need when doing regular day to day activities. The Explorer tactical backpack is great for hiking and camping. The Explorer has more than enough space for everything that my wife and I pack for a romantic picnic. Five stars all the way !
