Worth the purchase

Bought this as an upgrade to a Coleman 18’ above ground pool for the 2021 summer season. It’s now 2022 and the pump is still working great! Last season we hooked it up like a few other reviews suggested to the smaller pool pump (not cut on) so it could filter through cartridges. It was a pain in the butt figuring all the fittings and everything else out, but once we did it worked great. This year, I realized I had a leak in one of my hoses so I bypassed using the smaller pump and just have this hooked up to my pool. So far so good! I’m using filter socks in my skimmer and I hope that will be sufficient enough. The reviews on this pump are horrible. I do eventually want to upgrade to a sand filter, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed this pump will last all through this summer too. That would make two summers and be well worth the price in my opinion.

It does what it's meant to do at a suitable noise level for a good price

It's a powerful pump. I was very impressed with the water pressure on the return. It's so powerful that I almost needed to upgrade my sand filter because the pressure gauge almost went beyond the green. As long as I run the back flow regularly, all is well. The outlet connection on the pump was a little leaky initially. By that, I mean a bead of water would trickle out at a consistent rate. I ended up getting an o-ring to put on my adapter hose, and it stopped the leak.

Pump lasted 34 days before capacitor failure

This is a decent pump for the money. Same pump is available from other places with different name sticker and prices. Last pump exactly the same as this, under different name, only lasted just over one year.(Start capacitor failed), hopefully this one lasts longer. Overall a good deal. REVISED REVIEW!! The cheap price is exactly what you get a cheap pump. Motor capacitor failed after less then 100 starts. Now pump hums and wont run, motor gets hot. Pay more for a pump that will last.

Flimsy joint and bad packaging

It's more or less a direct replacement for my old pool pump but the joint between the basket strainer and the pump feels flimsy and wobbly. It's running now but I'm concerned about the longevity of that joint. The old pump had a very solid connection. Packaging sucked. The power cord is right up against the box and it wore through into the neutral wire. I had to remove the rear cover and rewire.

Okay-ish pump for small 10ft pool

Am I doing this right? I read another reviewers post saying that he hooked it up to his cheap pump to filer out the small stuff. It just seems louder hooked up this way. Maybe I need smaller hoses, idk. Once I finally figured out that I wasn't screwing the strainer cap on tight enough the pump started working great. I would like to use it with the filter pump but not if it's going to be louder. I think I like this pump but I've only had it a few hours so we'll see.

Great pool pump

Bought this pump to replace an old 1 hp pump that was so loud it could wake the dead. This pump was easy to install, took about 20 minutes and is so quite I have to put my hand on the pump to feel if it is running. So glad we bought this!
