Sifter & strainer combined
Loved the small mesh size so it's a sifter of flour as well as a strainer to rinse food etc...

Sturdy but food gets stuck in mesh
Hasn't fallen apart like other (plastic-framed) strainers used previously, but double mesh makes it too easy for bits of food to get stuck between layers and then impossible to get out.

A very good old-fashioned strainer - just what I have been looking for!
This is an excellent strainer. Good volume, not overy deep but also not too shallow. I have been looking for a replacement strainer for the longest time - my grandmother's finally gave up the ghost (it is 30 years since she passed & the strainer was old then). I don't know if it is from the same maker, but everything about this satrainer is identical to her's. I'd estimate that the original lasted about 60 years. If I get 1/3 of that service from this strainer, I will have had more than good service from it. lol Construction is sturdy, it can be filled completely and handle resting on a bowl or pot without strain. I have already used it lined with a light weight cloth to strain a small batch of stock - held the bones & aromatics with no trouble at all. This strainer has a double mesh which also makes it very good for straining pulp for jelly making. In the product description it reads, "Good quality product." That is not an empty boast. Most of those who pan this item seem to be expecting a chinois. This is not a chinois, it is a strainer. [NB: If you are concerned about rust, do not wash in a dishwasher & do not let it soak in a pan of dishwater - the failure is not the product's but the user's. Treat your tools well & they will outlast you - see grandma's strainer for an exemplar. ;) ]

You don't need this.
I can see you shaking your head in disbelief. "How could he know what I need? Only I truly know what kitchen equipment is required as I'm the master of my own destiny!" Shelve the ego and pride and realize that whatever is most commonly strained in your house more than likely does not require a dual mesh strainer. Quinoa? Layer a cheese cloth on a single layer strainer. Liquids? Again a cheese cloth or just a fine mesh strainer. If you buy this product you will realize that you have no need for 2 screens of mesh and cleaning it is a nightmare even greater than a whisk or a regular strainer. No this isnt an exaggeration, the 2 mesh layers get stuff stuck inbetween them and thats that it, it's just locked in food jail forever. Buy yourself a single walled sieve or 2 single walled sieves and then you can still have 2 mesh layers but no hellscape to cleanup after. I'm sure some actual niche specialist reason exists for this tool but its absolutely out of my ability to imagine.

Great strainer
Bought this to replace a comparable strainer that had served it's life expectancy. This one is even better than my previous one in that it is stainless steel, and it has not one, but two, mesh screen strainers, one a little larger than the others. I like that and feel that will help to extend the life of the strainer because all the stress is not put on one single screen mesh.

Extremely Durable and a TERRIFIC Price!
This is a TERRIFIC strainer. The construction is solid. By itself, the wire frame is strong...it's built out of heavy gauge and has a really firm feel to it. But add to that a wooden support down the middle of the handle and you have a really concrete grip that doesn't budge. The sieve portion is equally solid. The outside circumference consists of the same heavy wire gauge, and the interior strainer consists of a double fine mesh that is extremely strong. It is the ideal sieve for almost anything I can think of that you might wish to strain: noodles, rice, veggies, meat...I can't imagine the item that could bend it. It also has "grip" tabs at the end that allow it to cling to the edge of the surface of whatever container you're pouring it over...say, a mixing bowl, or a pot. It will not relinquish its grip or slide off due to the bent tabs. While I would definitely vouch for its functionality in a kitchen, I am going to add what I think is a real testament of its durability. I've bought TWO -- but not because I expect it to break (anything but!). No -- in fact, I use them for straining out impurities in my HORSE TROUGHS. This would include hunks of hay, dirt, even wood or other harsh, crappy junk that falls in there. Despite the punishment these strainers go through they have shown almost NO signs of wear. I am amazed that this is only costs $6.90. If you have Prime, the PRICE includes shipping...you simply can't beat this bargain.

Great but not fine mesh
This is super sturdy. We have been using another for several years and it is in great condition. Mesh is not fine.

We’re still getting to know each other, but we’re warming up
I bought this to replace its predecessor and wow do I love these strainers. This replacement is almost the same as it’s big brother, but feels juuuust slightly less rigid. But if you need to strain a heavy load, swirl it around under some water, and require a fine grain strainer these are for you. Like I said, we are still getting to know each other but I already know we will get whatever job done and done right. They’re not pretty but they perform like the pro kitchen equipment that they are.
