great press
This takes the uneven thin edges out of the hand pressed burgers/ They come out uniform and hold together better in my grill than hand made ones.

OK... if you like THIN burgers
I debated between this press and the Weston. I was somewhat disappointed when I saw how little adjustability of thickness this press has. Do not buy this press if you like to make thick burgers. I measured the depth to be about 3/8 inch. However, this press works pretty well. I place a ball of ground beef on a sheet of square parchment (that I bulk purchased through Amazon) towards the hinge side of the press. I place another piece of parchment on top of the beef then press the top of the form firmly. Since it squeezes the meat towards the front of the press, it ends up making a perfect patty, although thin. I remove the patty and bottom piece of parchment, flip the remaining parchment sheet and place it on the bottom of the press... and start all over again for the next burger(s). If you're planning on freezing the burgers in a stack, remove both pieces of parchment with the patty and start over again- stacking as you go. This way, they'll separate easily if you don't want to use the whole batch of frozen burgers at one time. Depending on the grade of ground beef you use, you'll end up with about a 3 1/2" patty after grilling. The one aggravating thing about this press is when you open it and remove your hands from it, it falls over backward due to the weight of the top of the press. I could mount it on a cutting board but then it would be difficult to clean and store. BTW... if you use the parchment paper method like I do, there's very little press cleaning to do... not to mention, there's no sticking of ground beef to the press!

Hard to use
I had a hard time using this hamburger press. The meat stuck to the top and the bottom tearing the formed hamburger apart, even when I sprayed the surfaces with cooking oil. I've used it only once and will try again, the next time doubling a piece of plastic wrap around the meat before trying to press it into shape. It makes quarter pounders and that's all.

NOT 5"
This is supposed to be 5" but it is in fact only 4 1/2". I wish that I had taken better notice of the product diminsions listed. I needed 5" for 1/3lb BBQ'n. Product Diminsions are listed as 7.5 X 4.5 X 2.5, not big enough for a 5" disk. If your looking for a very good 4 1/2" press for quarter-pounders this is it. If you must have 5" then take a look at a stainless steel 5" egg-ring.

Really cheap
The hamburger press looks just like the picture, but feels incredibly cheap. It is lightweight aluminum, and the top is heavier than the bottom so when open, it falls over. The worst thing about it is that it cannot make thick patties. In fact, on the thickest setting, the burger is quite thin. I didn't go through the trouble of returning it, but regret buying it.

It's in the trash can
Used it once and didn't do its job properly. After I washed it the shiny coat came right off, leaving a gray layer of who knows what. The gray was all over my hands. Horrible. Took me a while to remove the color from my skin. When I was finally done I threw the gadget in the trash. Amazon, you should not be selling this product. It is probably toxic. And yes, you should refund me.

Poorly made Minus 1 Star
I was so excited to get the, until I opened and saw the poor quality. Only got worse when I tried making a round Patty, it is incapable of hat task, and believe me I grew up in the restaurant using a hand press, making hundreds a day. I don't even give this thing 1 star.
