Worked great for chocolate

Worked great for chocolate-except the seaweed which was too thin and broke. 4 stars because they look very two dimensional- would be much better if they had some depth to them.

Awesome Results!

I used this to make a Little Mermaid cake for my daughter's 4th birthday. Made the exact cake shown as the product sample project, but with a little Ariel figure on top (and used buttercream to cover the cake rather than fondant). It was PERFECT. Used the mold again since then and still had no trouble with it at all. I could not have asked for an easier product to use. I do have to say that it was very time consuming to make all the pieces, but I did all except the border pieces a few at a time the week leading up to the party. I used just fondant, not a 50/50 mix, and I had no trouble at all removing the pieces, even the coral. Best tip I can give is not to put too much fondant into the mold, use just the small amount that you need for each shape and press it into the cavities so that it just fits and you don't have a lot of excess to trim away. Once I figured that out it went a lot faster. One more suggestion is to brush the pieces with pearl dust before you put them on the cake, it really makes a nice difference and shows the textures a little better. Overall, awesome product, fantastic results, made me want to go buy some of the other molds Wilton offers.

Worked great for making chocolates!

I needed to make an ocean themed cake for a friend's birthday, but I hate using fondant or gum paste. I thought that these molds were really cute but I wasn't sure how well they would work for chocolate. As you can see in the pictures I did not use any of the borders or the coral decoration, they are really cute but I couldn't even imagine trying to remove anything cleanly out of those. The molds that I did use worked great! I melted the chocolate poured it into the mold and scraped off the excess for a smooth bottom.(I also popped them in the freezer to both speed up the process and promote a clean removal) I am going to warn you that the actual indents for the molds are quite thin, which I personally liked since I was using it for a cake I didn't want something really heavy. The mold actually seems to be pretty sturdy and since it is silicone you can bend it as you want to get your shape out without damaging! I would definitely recommend!

What I love about this mold is that the seashells/sand dollars/starfish were perfect for a sheet cake that was made to look like a beach. They would even be perfect for cupcakes. I know some people feel they were too small but perfect for a cake like what I made. Just make sure to powder your mold with powder sugar to make your fondant not stick to it. It arrived so quick and packaged very nicely. Will be buying the bigger shell molds for sure.

Easy and Fun!

These were so handy and perfect for an under the sea theme cake I made for a friend's daughter's birthday. We had fun mixing fondant colors to give the shells some varying color to go along with the texture. It was just perfect! We didn't even need cornstarch to get them out of them molds. They were very easy to pop out.

Good for gum paste or chocolate… not fondant.

I had better luck putting melted merkens chocolate in these molds - for people w/o access, you can use the Wilton brand (which I think taste like crap but it’s readily available). It’s shallow so getting fondant out in one piece is a chore. Chocolate is much easier and can be used for the shells and sand dollar. NOT the coral though - use a stiffer gum paste there… otherwise it just cracks trying to get it out. And obviously you can’t use chocolate that doesn’t bend for a border.

High quality product.

Came in the mail just in time. I love the quality of this product. I was a bit nervous in using it for the first time coz im using fondant out of marshmallow and icing sugar (not store bought) and they worked really great and even exceeded my expectation. Its a high quality silicon molder. I even tried using candy melts and it worked perfectly.

Surprised

I actually bought this for a hot glue craft, not fondant. But I must say I am very impressed with its quality. This is a sturdy, thick, heavy mold that will not slip off the counter or out of your hands easily. The decorations are thinner than I expected, but the detail is incredible!

The product itself was of good quality though

I bought this to make an under the sea themed cake. Unfortunately I didn't realise you needed to buy a special knife separately in order to get the icing out and so I couldn't use it properly. The product itself was of good quality though.
