very very good drill press vise. I have a craftmen home drill press and I really needed this.

Very low quality of workmanship and accuracy
I purchased this vise thinking it was a quality Wilton product; as it turns out this vise is far from the quality I expected from Wilton. In fact it is a very low quality Chinese/import made product. I would have most likely had a better product buying from HF. Upon opening I found the jaws of the vise to have a very loose fit and after removing the bottom plate on the bottom of the jaws, I was able to adjust most of the play from the vise. Then I discovered that I was unable to open the vise jaws completely......as the jaws reach about 3/4 full open they bind and are unable to open completely (no wonder the jaws were adjusted loose). The vise was mounted to my mill table to try it out and when I attempted to clamp the vise to the table I found that there was a wobble in the vise base between the mill table and the vise base. At first I thought it could be a burr or a piece of metal under the vise.........not so! The base of the vise was machined uneven and un-parallel. Laying a straightedge across the base I found an error of over 1/8 inch. The left side of the vise was out of plane with the right side of the vise........there was no way possible to clamp this vise without causing a wobble or a non vertical drill angle. I am uncertain what method was used to machine the base of this vise.........but it is obvious that little attention or care was taken to insure it was accurate. I now find it necessary to go through the trouble of returning/exchanging the vise and risk getting the same problem on the replacement OR to disassemble the vise and mount it in my Bridgeport mill and re-machine the base. Even with doing that I am going to live with having the jaws bind when getting close to full open. Wilton should be ashamed for releasing such a poor product...........especially at the price point they have this marketed to. I have 3 old Wilton bench vises and they have been quality products and have experienced over 30 years of good service with no problems or failures. Wilton is another product who has gone by the wayside and lost its reputation and quality through buyouts, merger, and off shore manufacturing. What a shame.........Wilton you should be ashamed and embarrassed by releasing a product as low in quality and workmanship as this vise. No more new Wilton products for me. Follow up: Dec 14, 2018 I just heard back from Wilton (now called JPW {Jet-Powermatic-Wilton} industries) and they will not warranty the vise because it was purchased through Amazon. Stating only that ....."sold by outside party of Amazon and not covered by JPW Industries warranty". Instead of Wilton addressing the problem of a defective, mis-machined product of theirs; they simply state that Amazon is not an authorized seller of Wilton vises and that they will not do anything about this product. Very sad tale of a once "standard of the industry" company has been reduced to one so shallow and short sighted. It is quite obvious that customer satisfaction, or standing behind their product, is not a top priority.

It's perfect for my needs
First one received had the bar handle bent but I reported it to Amazon and I received a replacement in just a couple of days. I am really impressed with both Amazon and the quality of the vise. It's perfect for my needs.

I could have saved myself countless hours of frustration from cheap vises had I spent the $$ for a quality BP vise like this soo
Outstanding... If you're sick and tired of the "lift" on the moveable jaw of the cheap Chinese vises- this is for you. I could have saved myself countless hours of frustration from cheap vises had I spent the $$ for a quality BP vise like this sooner. It has the precision and tightness of a quality milling vise- for your drill press. From now on, it's Wilton, for me.
