Very happy after months of owning

I spent a while researching shoe racks before purchasing this one. I can’t find any other one like it. I love the all metal design (all other similar ones use a mesh backing to support the shoes). Assembly was not too bad and it sits well on my door. I do wish they made a longer model to foot more shoes. I have searched the internet and cannot find one. I would buy one in a heartbeat.

Strong enough for men shoes

I love it def cleanup the place with this. I can put up to 18 pairs of sneakers depending on the type of shoe. I have big Rocky brand boots too and hey fit but I half to lay them down like they are going in a shoe box. The metal bars make me feel like it will last a while unlike something like mesh. My only gripe is I wish they would have had another row. Still happy i bought this

Easy to install, clean look and functions well

Save time and money by not buying this shoe rack.

Save time and money by not buying this shoe rack. The assembly is very easy, but the quality of the components is so cheap that you should avoid the product. Please see my photos for more details. Synopsis of my experience: 1) One of tubes (part C) arrived missing threads. I contacted Whitmor customer service for a replacement tube. The Whitmor customer service rep was very polite and didn't make me provide evidence of the defect. The phone call was fast and convenient, unlike the wait of 10 days for an extra part. It's very frustrating when I sit down to complete a simple task, like assembling a shoe rack, and I can't even accomplish that. It makes me feel powerless as an individual. What am I even doing with my life? 2) I waited 10 days for my replacement part. It was finally time to accomplish this simple task. But as I tightened the screw H into the brace A (thus sandwiching the tube of part D) in step 3 of the directions, I noticed that the tube was being crushed by the screw and brace sandwich, and paint was flaking. Personally, I really hate rogue paint flakes and shoddy tubes. Now I had both. I realized that I overtightened the screws, but if you look at my 4th photo, you will see why. When you tighten screw H into part A, so little of the screw sticks out from the brace that it doesn't look fully tightened. Plus, nothing is stopping you from continuing to twist the screw until it damages the tube! Indeed, screw H is very easy to twist, even after you've damaged the tube. In any quality product, you would know that a screw is tight enough because you would need Schwarzenegger amounts of torque to keep twisting. But in this case, your first clue that the screw is tight enough comes when you damage the product. In short, 1) the shoe rack arrived with a defective part, 2) the parts are weak enough that you can easily damage them while assembling the shoe rack. Don't be like me. Save your time and money by not buying this shoe rack.

Very solid when assembled properly. Good stuff... up to size 12, though.

1) BEFORE YOU BUY: I used a 12 in (30cm) ruler, but in order to determine if the unit fits your closet, hold a shoebox against the inside of your door and close to door in oree 2) ASSEMBLY: It took me a little over 33 minutes to assemble this shoe rack, and I only used the supplied Allen wrench. If you have never assembled anything like this, be patient and maybe have someone help you. When assembling the crossbars to the end brackets, you have to hold the crossbar so that it doesn't spin around while tightening the screws. I held them in place with my hand, but pliers could be used as well (risk of scratches). After assembly, it is important to make sure all the screws are tightened. 3) USE: The rack can easily hold 12 pairs of adult sized shoes at least 7 inches (17.8 cm) long. Be aware that any adult shoe size over US men's size 12 (11.81 inches, EUR size 46, UK size 11, 30cm) will likely be too big to use as shown on the rack. The brown ones and the gray New Balance ones are size 12s. I hope this helps.

Daughter Loves Shoe Rack!!

Purchased as a Christmas gift for our daughter when her other “over the door “ rack broke. I have one of those daughters that loves buying shoes & always on sale. So there are way to many to just toss in a closet. This rack held them ALL. And unlike others we had seen which were metal AND PLASTIC, this is all metal. She’s not your typical size 7/8 shoe, she’s like her mother with a larger foot. This rack holds them all amazingly well. Much better than her last rack where you had to HANG them on those upside down “U” shaped hangers. Her shoes were to big for those so they never fit very well and it always appeared the rack was a mess of piled on shoes. Not anymore. Her shoes sit nicely onto the sturdy rack. And the great thing is it’s so sturdy that it doesn’t rock back and forth on the back of her door. It hangs smoothly against the door even without being secured with screws. That’s perfect since we are in a rental and don’t want to put holes in the door. For anyone wanting to get their shoes in order I would recommend this rack. I shopped around for months and without paying an “arm & leg” for one of those high priced racks, I feel this was well worth the money. I definitely could not find the same in any of the big box stores, for the price and quality, that I got with this one.

Pieces were defective, don't wait on customer service

I managed to make this work, but about a third of the screws they sent were not the correct length and wouldn't hold the side to the bars. I put them in backwards and it seems to be holding up well, but I contacted Whitmor and after one unhelpful reply they basically ignored me. If you're OK with being creative this works well for the designed purpose, but maybe have some extra nuts and bolts on hand if you run into this issue as well.

very useful for the wall

I needed to find a shoe rack to keep my cat from going on the shoes and this did the trick! It's not quite as deep as I need for the big shoes but it's fine and we use it for all shoes except for winter boots, they'll stay outside. It's also made the front hall very neat and tidy. I'm not too concerned about the wall, once I decide to take it down I'll paint over it. It's not for winter boots so not overly dirty. You just have to bend the piece that goes over the door so that you can wall mount it.

Horrible!!!!

If I could give 0 zero stars I would. This item was impossible to build. I spent 2 hours trying to get the bolts in the holes. Seems the bolts are too short and they would just turn and turn, never tightening. Then with the tension of the one screw I managed to fasten in, the other bolts would pop out. I turned and turned and refastened bolts for 2 hours. I then gave up…. What a miserable experience. I can’t return now because I passed the date to return them, it was today. One built it was not even staying flush with the door. Horrible!!! Then all the screws popped out I just moved to a new place and did not have time to set up my printer to print the label etc. too many boxes to open. Anyhoo, this was totally a disaster, I must have received a bad item as all the reviews seem to say it’s great and easy to build :( Going in the trash…

A test of patience

I have to agree with the people that found it difficult to assemble. Why not have a nut and bolt system? Instead we have a super short bolt that created an issue for me. When it fit, it was easy; but if it was off a bit, maddening! I almost gave up. I eventually used my own nuts and bolts for some of the trouble holes. Aside from that, it holds the shoes well and I am pleased with the end result.

Works enough..

I like how easy to assemble it was. Price wasn't bad. Seems fairly sturdy but once attached to the back of our closet door I noticed it was warping. Wouldn't lay flat against the door. The left side was fine but the right side still stood out away from the door less than an inch. My hubby screwed it into the door on the left so it doesn't move, and it's workable but would have been a 5 sar if it didn't have this issue.
