Happy with this remote, but....
I just installed this remote on a new Westinghouse Oasis fan and it works perfect. (Another reviewer said it doesn't fit with an Oasis fan, and - although it is a tight fit - it does work with the Oasis fan I can assure you.) Here's what I liked (and didn't like) about this remote: PROS: - Once installed it works exactly as advertised - Long range (I tried it from 50' away from another room and through a wall with windows and a glass door and was able to operate the fan just fine) - Allows you to remotely set the fan to low, medium, or high (as well as dim or brighten the light) - all with the touch of a button - Comes with everything you need for installation CONS: - There is a sensor/receiver unit that is not shown in the photos that needs to be installed in the fan housing. This sensor is fairly large, and it's difficult to install for that reason. However, I looked at other remote brands and it's about the same size as the rest of them. But I don't know why these manufacturers couldn't make this part smaller so it's easier to install. - The manufacturer says that this remote "Installs easily" and "requires no hard wiring". I feel like this is a little misleading. While it wasn't too difficult to install, you do need to have at least some basic knowledge of fan installation and electrical to do it. And it DOES require that you hard wire the sensor/receiver unit between the power line coming in to the fan and the fan wiring itself. So I'm not sure why they would say it does NOT require hard wiring. Bottom line....if you know nothing about fan installation, you might have trouble installing this. But if you can install a fan, you should have no problem wiring this remote. - This is a minor thing, but the numbered buttons on the fan remote work like this: 1= high, 2= medium, 3= low, 0= off. Another reviewer pointed out that they thought it should be the opposite (i.e. 1= low, 2= medium, 3= high, 0= off) and I would agree. But it's not a huge deal and you get used to it. Overall, I'm happy with this remote now that it's installed and I think you will be too.

Inadequate dimming, inadequate wattage for incandecents, long delay when turning on lights
I bought this because the ceiling fan in my room at my parents' house was driving me nuts, and I wanted to be able to dim it. And unfortunately, the house was wired with only three wires to the fan, which means it can't be controlled with an external dimmer without tearing out the floor in the attic to run a new wire, which forced me to use an in-ceiling dimmer (as opposed to the wall dimmer that I use at home). It works, at least by some definition of working, but it is seriously subpar in terms of what I was expecting. In particular: 1. When you turn on the light switch at the wall, the lights remain off for an entire second before turning on. That's completely unacceptable from a safety perspective. 2. The maximum wattage supported on the lighting side is a complete joke. This controller has a maximum wattage limit of only 190 Watts for incandescent bulbs. A standard five-bulb ceiling fan would typically have 60–75 watts per bulb, which is 300–375 watts. In other words, this cannot realistically be used with any ceiling fan unless you use LED bulbs. The claim that it is incandescent-compatible just doesn't hold up in reality. In fact, I don't think you could even find incandescent bulbs with low enough wattage to use this on a five-light fixture. They'd have to be lower than 40 watts per bulb, which is the lowest wattage I've ever seen! 3. The dimming capabilities are also a complete joke. It dims the bulbs to somewhere around half of their normal brightness. Nobody in their right minds would consider this acceptable. I don't know what product to recommend, but I would definitely not recommend this product to anyone as currently designed. It isn't even close to being good enough.

Large, but has light dim feature!
As others have already mentioned the remote receiver is quite large. I had to mount mine in the ceiling (in the attic) on top of the drywall next to the fan mounting box. The unit works on RF vs IR, so mounting it in the attic side of drywall doesn't affect operation. The major difference between this control and the 1/3 less expensive remotes is this kit offers light dimming not just simple on or off operation. Only CON- the connection wires are only maybe 6", knowing this unit is too large to mount inside the fan hanger box... the three wires that lead to the fan could have been another 12" longer to help snake them out into and out of the junction box easier.

Works great, but way too large
For those who haven't played with these, this is a generic remote control for a fan. It has two leads in (hot and neutral power) and three out (neutral, fan control, light control). There are four fixed buttons for fan speed (low/med/high/off) and one for the light that is a dimmer when held or a simple on/off when tapped. Dead simple to install with basic wiring skills and can work with just about any ceiling fan. But it's not a Westinghouse product. Sure, it carries the name, but even modern Westinghouse fans don't have an allowance for the remote receiver. You just need to shove it wherever it fits. And it's much larger than it needs to be. The receiver should have been designed to fit into a standard wiring box, there's plenty of space there and it probably exists in the majority of ceiling fan installations. But it doesn't nor is there space in my flush mount Westinghouse Comet to install it easily (someone else claims to have had no issues, so perhaps I simply didn't find the right angle. Since it is a generic remote and isn't designed around Westinghouse fans I'd probably recommend comparing to other brands, but if you've got space in your lighting box or a large cover for your fan this model works well - even with the remote mounted on the wall.

Works great
Nice not to get out of bed and turn fan on

great for a retrofit
Everything works fine , however the size of the controller makes it difficult to fit under covering of fan. I used a piece of perforated strapping and screwed it to the ceiling

Handy Remote!
Easy installation. Works as described. Also comes with wall mount bracket.

Works as designed. Easy to install.
I installed the controller myself in 10 minutes in an old fixture where the old remote didn't work any longer. Instructions are simple. You don't need an electrician for this. Suggestion: If you have several of these remote controlled ceiling light/fans, clearly mark each remote to indicate which light they are controlling. Remember it is by radio signals. If you take a remote into another room it will still control the light fixture it is paired with. If you mix them up you may think the battery is dead, while someone else thinks they have a ghost in their room playing with the light fixture.

The numbers are inverse what I expected. Level 1 ...
The numbers are inverse what I expected. Level 1 is the most powerful, 3 the least. Complicated to fit in the base of my fan but eventually found the necessary images to show me EXACTLY where it needs to go in order to fit.
