It works well enough
The switch works well enough. My biggest complaint is the back side design. It's a fan control switch, but it's built to work on a three way circuit. Instead of having screws or holes to insert wires in to, it has wires sticking out the back. All that creates extra bulk and makes it a pain to install.

Instructions don't match iPhone app
If you have installed light dimmers and a smart device or two before you'll find few surprises in making the connections. If your home was built in the last couple of decades you should find the white neutral wire in the box that is required. In my 16-year old home, the Lutron fan speed control I was replacing didn't require it, but it was there tucked in the back of the electrical box. Thankfully, it was a deep electrical box because this device is a bit hefty. Once it was installed in the box, I loaded the Leviton app on my iPhone and was soon able to turn the fan off/on and adjust its speed. What kept this from being a 5-star review? It was because the booklet and website instructions weren’t 100% accurate. For example, the names and locations of items were different. The menu icon is in the lower-right corner, not the top-left corner. With a bit of experimentation, it became clear that "Connections" in the booklet is "Integrations" in the app. Once you tap Alexa "Support" you are taken to instructions on a Leviton website that are a bit off making the wade through getting the Alexa skill working harder than it need be. For some reason after the initial setup, I could only turn the fan on/off and not set the speed. Alexa would respond she couldn't do that. Maybe I missed something trying to follow the less than perfect instructions. So, I deleted the device and ran through the setup the second time and it worked perfectly. Over the last few days it seems to stay connected to Alexa just fine and I can control the fan speed reliably. I would recommend the Leviton smart devices that are designed for Wi-Fi home automation even though they are more expensive than some. The reasons are reliability, consistency and 4-way dimmer switch support. I trust Leviton to have tested these devices thoroughly. Once you put something electrical in a wall you want to feel sure it will still be working in 5 or 10 years. Also, with Leviton I can have dimmers with multiple controls and all the switch rockers, and the side speed/dimmer adjusters are the same... and the dimmers can handle my 4-way situation with a switch at the base of the stairs, top of the stairs, and at the other end of the upstairs hall. I will buy more of these devices to expand my smart home automation.

Easy to install works with Smartthings
Needed a switch to control my ceiling fans that were controlled by pull chains and a wall switch. Two of my fans had wall switches that only turned the fan on or off, the light was a separate switch. Once I installed this switch to replace my on/off ceiling fan switch, the switch itself, Alexa and Smartthings can all turn my fan on or off and set the speed (pull chain must be ON and on maximum speed). My third fan was a bit more work since the only on/off switch was the pull chain. Turned off power and fished 12-3 Romex from fan fixture to where I wanted my new wall switch. Connected to the proper fan control wires in the fixture and then connected the other end to this Leviton switch. Made sure pull chain was ON and on max speed. Turned the power back on and I now have a new switch that controls my previously switchless fan. Also can control with Alexa and Smartthings. Great switch! Note: This switch requires a neutral wire.

Works great with Alexa
I’ve installed 5 of these in my house and all of them work flawlessly. My fans range from 60 to 72 inches in size and they all start and run exactly as you would expect. Very quiet with almost no motor hum even at the lowest speed. Integration with Alexa is easy too. One note, on initial setup, it might take 30 seconds for iOS to truly connect to the switch’s WiFi. You’ll get a green check mark ✅ in iOS almost immediately, but it can take another 10-20 seconds for the app to truly see the switch. This was sort of confusing to me. It’s strictly a one time time, though. These switches really are great. Zero regrets. Absolutely no frustration.

Finally found one fan switch I liked.
I have been researching fan controllers for a while and have tried others without much success. I finally bought a Leviton DW4SF and installed. Wasn’t too difficult to install as I installed it next to a TP-Link smart switch in a box that holds two switches. Having two smart switches in the box is a bit cramped but I was able to get them both in snug and fit. The IOS works well and I use Alexa and it worked just fine as well. I can tell it to turn the fan on wit a low setting or I can tell Alexa to set it to high it it does what I asked. Better that my kids would do. The first one I installed I put in the living room and since everything worked out so well I bought a 2nd on for our bedroom. I was able to get it to work without any issue. One thing I really like is the ability to add them to a routine. When I start the Goodnight routine it shuts off the living room fan and then at 4:00 AM it have a routine that shuts off the bedroom fan. Not sure if I’m going to get one for the guest room or office since we don’t use them very often.

Know before you buy......
If you use google Home/Assistant......Currently as of this review. You can only turn on and off the fan. The app will be necessary to adjust fan settings.....If that is a deal-breaker for you, then do not buy this. With that said, let's actually give a rundown on the product. The product is just like all the other neutral required switches out there. It does have the signal wire also for a 3-way which is nice. It is an "Up is on", "Down is off" switch. Other switches are just clickers. So this is nice to keep with the rest of your switches. It doesn't look like it's in "neutral" or in the "Up" position all the time if that bothers you. It is a pricey bit of smart gear for what it does but the app is well thought out, if you use google home, or TP-Link's Kasa App you will be right at home with the Leviton app. My only gripe is the google automation limitations, but that's not the fault of the product, I don't think, but I think it is the nicest looking fan controller switch out there.

Excellent switches - setup impossible on Samsung Galaxy S10/S10+ phones
These switches are very easy to install. You will need to pigtail with a neutral wire and the box does come with a bit of wire to run that. The switches do ship with an outdate version of the firmware installed on them, however, that makes setup impossible if you have a Samsung Galaxy S10 or S10+; I had to call Leviton to confirm this and was told these were the only 2 Android devices they were aware of that had this issue. In order to set them up, I had to borrow a family member's slightly older Galaxy S9+ phone and then update the firmware. Once the firmware was updated to the latest version, my S10+ had no problems connecting to them. Connecting them to my Google Home setup and controlling them through it or the Home app itself was a breeze. One important thing to note is that the default minimum brightness level on the switches is set to 10% but this can be lowered further in the My Leviton app.
