Water came out dark!
This is my first experience with an aftermarket water filter for my JennAire refrigerator. In the past, I have always used the OEM replacement filters, and have never had this experience. My water was coming out very slowly, so I decided it was time to replace the filter. We had been having problems with our water softener not working properly (it may have been producing excess sodium), so I've had my softener in bypass mode for a few days. Anyway, when I replaced the filter with this one, the first glass of water came out a very dark green color! At least I think it was green (I'm red/green color-blind). I have never seen this before with the OEM filters. I kept refilling the glass about twenty times, and gradually the water started to clear up. I know the instructions said to run the water for three minutes (that's a LOT of glasses) after replacing the filter, but surely this is not the reason why. It was very alarming to see. This morning, I was filling up the coffee carafe to make coffee, and I could see whitish flakes floating around in the water and it was very cloudy. Perhaps there was some type of sodium buildup in my ice water reservoir. I really can't say (I went for the tap water instead). However, I have no explanation for the dark color of the water. If anyone else has experienced this, please comment. I can't give this a decent rating right now, because it definitely did not behave like the OEM filters I have used many times. The first glass is always clear, and I have never run a lot of water through them (or any, for that matter) before using. I will update this review if I learn more about the cause. UPDATE (9/9/13): I made an email inquiry to the company and received the following response: --- We are truly sorry about your experience and we would like to assure you that our product is made of the highest quality right here in the US. In fact 100% is manufactured right here in Temecula California. Although once in a while dark water comes out of the filter due to the carbon block (made out of Coconut shell carbon), the water normally clears within a few gallons. As you seen once you continued to run water through the filter it cleared up! This is a normal condition that happens, you should be alarmed if after running a couple of gallons through the filter the water continued to be discolored. If you have any more questions or concerns please feel free to contact me. --- 'Once in a while' the water comes out dark? With no indication on the product that this is 'normal'? Sorry, but I think I'll stick with the 1-star review (and go back to OEM next time). UPDATE #2 (9/11/13) I received a phone call at work today from the company, and they would like to get the filter back for analysis. Apparently this is NOT normal behavior. They are sending me a replacement, along with prepaid shipping ticket to send the unit back. I'm happy to send it to them for post-mortem. They told me to switch out the filter with one of the other ones I already have. I did, and the water came out clear right away. I'm really not sure how to rate this product right now. I think I'll leave it as is for the time being. Update #3 (4/2/14) I just replaced the water filter with another one from the 3-pack I originally received. Once again, the water came out extremely dark and discolored, and it took obout 20 pitchers full of water for it to clear up. One star review remains in place. From now on, I'll go OEM.

refrigerator water filters from Pure Water
I ordered a package of 3 water filters in early December from PureWater and they arrived within days. For various reasons, I never opened the package until Christmas morning, only to discover that they had sent the wrong filters. On Christmas afternoon, I sent a message to the company stating they had sent the wrong filters. The next morning I received a reply apologizing for the error and promising to make good. Soon thereafter, I received a package with the correct filters and a postage paid return voucher so I could send back the earlier filters at no cost to myself. Everyone is entitled to one mistake, especially around Christmas when things can be hectic. Assuming that this is not a habit and because they were quick to respond to the mistake and took full responsibility for the error, I would rate this transaction as a positive one. I found their good customer service to be a plus and I would do business with them again. PS the second set of filters works fine. The filters are for a Maytag refrigerator but they are not Maytag filters; they are after market filters but they work just fine. And, the website clearly states that they are generic filters, not Maytag so I was not surprised when I opened the package

I have been buying the Water Sentinel WSM-1 replacement filters for over 12 years and I have never been disappointed in their ability to operate and function equally as well as the SAMSUNG BRAND. Included in each box is a single use lubricant to use if needed to reapply the filter. Also a date symbol as a reminder to change the filter every 3 - 6 months. Depending on your water and ice usage. I can't remember the last time I purchased a brand name filter but they are between $50 - $75 per filter and that is too much for a filter. My Dad has a Maytag refrigerator and he is equally happy with the Sentinel filters. The filters arrive on time and are well packaged. Great job AMAZON!!!

Great company...
I was sorry that the filters didn't work for my refrigerator. It was shown on the packaging that it should work for mine but for some reason I could not get them to work. The folks at this company where great to work with and cheerfully refunded my order. They are a credit to companies selling through Amazon and if I need something else they sell I will gladly order from them. My kudos to them and especially to Elizabeth. Thank you!!!

Exceptional customer service
An excellent price and extremely quick delivery. This being my first time using this particular provider, I was very pleased with the quick service. The WSM-1 Filters have and will continue to be my filter of choice as they work flawlessly and last a long time and now, this provider will also be my first choice.
