You might not need this...

If you are a healthy fit person frequenting a screwdriver around the house you probably don't need this tool. I was easily able to unscrew the filter by hand before this thing arrived.

It broke after two uses - the fridge was stronger than it.

It worked one or two times , but the third time the fridge won and it snapped without being able to loosen the water filter. I just used my hand and that eventually got it loose...

Wow ... Only 58 cents ... but wait .... shipping is how much?

There is not much you can say about this item. If you need one and don't have one, then you're out of luck. I do think the pricing should be more balanced though. They don't use any type of express or overnight shipping to get this item to you so someone can only assume the extra cost is for "handling". I think most people interested in this item wouldn't mind paying as much as $5-$7 for it and feeling they only paid $2-$3 shipping/handling. But the item does fit the outside of the filter housing and it does the described job so there are no complaints about the item itself. It does make a person wonder about items sold on this site for less than $1.00 plus shipping and handling that is way over the actual price of the shipping. Update: I noticed shortly after this review was published the price and shipping was changed to better reflect the actual cost break down of what the total will be to have this item delivered to you. Total cost is still approx. what it was before but it is more in line with how it is divided up. Again, the item is NOT something you can just walk into your local store and find so I am glad it is offered here and I recomend it to anyone who MIGHT have need for it.

Better than channel lock pliers

Lost the original piece years ago. Forgot that this was available. Getting the filter off can be a real pain if you don’t have one of these. If the fridge is a few years old the canister can be brittle and a pliers could crush it.

We finally wore out the original tool we had to replace the Frigidaire water filter/s. I ordered this from Amazon and it works as good as the original. Hopefully it will out last the refrigerator.

Works as a plastic tool should.

Nice tool for loosening the filter. If the filter was tightened too much the tool won't work since it's plastic and slips. I used the tool to help get a good grip and used my whole hand to grab the filter.
