Worked as advertised
My wife loves to drag me to a noisy bar with loud bands a cinder block walls and ceilings so there is little to no sound absorbtion. In previous visits, even though I was using Hearos earplugs, I could never stand to be in the club for more than a few miuntes. I wore these headphones, and a set of foam earplugs to the club with her, and sat close to the band. The band was so loud that my back felt like the drummer was hitting me with the drum sticks, and while the sound was a little too loud for my comfort, my ears didn't ring any worse after the night was over than they did before. My wife thought they looked a little funny, but one of the band members pointed me out, and said he should be wearing them, too. The advertisement said they were 22 dB of attenuation, but the packaging said 25 dB. So, I got twice as much protection as I paid for. I wear glasses, so there was some discomfort, and maybe a little less attenuation than if I didn't wear glasses, but altogether, they worked. I have a large head, and they just fit. Update: March 18, 2014 I have moderate to severe hearing loss, and that seems to make my ears even more susceptible to noise. Even when I wear earplugs on an airliner, my ears still ring afterwards. On my last trip, I flew 4 legs. One leg I had Hear-O's large blue foam plugs in, and I didn't need these, but I wore them with orange earplugs the other three legs, and had no problems with sound causing my ears to ring. They are a bit tight on my head, but I'll put up with some discomfort (in fact, a lot) to save what's left of my hearing. If you are reading this, you are trying to save your ears, too. I don't care if you buy this product, or another, just get as much protection as you can afford. Hearing is a non-renewable resource!

Does what is says...
just bought a new pair, it fulfills its promise to shield your ears form high volume, and way comfortable! don't scoff at the cost, you can't afford to not have these! had an older pair from about 7-8 years ago that held up very well, still worked as promised, gave them to my neighbor who just started playing cuz she was complaining of ringing ears and headaches from her drum playing, absolutely no complaints from her. they still do the job after all these years.

Great headphones for drum practice
Good noise cancellation while still being able to hear my drumming; perfect balance for me. Comfortable for longer sessions and durable so far.

Great for cutting out white noise, and increasing focus
Just got the Vic Firth Drummer's Headphones today and so far I love them. That really doesn't say that much of their durability but I'll have to return and do an update if I have any problems with them (manufacture defects, etc). Upon initial inspection of the headphones they appear to be solidly built and look exactly like they do in the photo. The material used to construct them feels pretty durable and seems like it should hold up for a long time. I definitely wouldn't be worried if I accidently dropped them on the ground, but I'm not willing to test that out either. I was a bit worried at first upon opening them up out of the plastic because they appeared to be pretty small but when I put them on they contoured to the shape of my head very nicely. So no complaints in the comfort department. The pads that form the shape around the ears does exert some pressure, and I could see this getting irritable after a few hours (especially if your drumming, moving around, sweating) but nothing a short break probably wouldn't take of. I'm probably the only weirdo who doesn't use these to play drums though - so I have a different perspective of their functionality. I use the isolation headphones mainly to help me focus when I'm studying or reading because I'm an auditory learner and white noise is super distracting to me. They are also way more comfortable than ear plugs as well. Nevertheless, these headphones do the trick and cut down sound tremendously.

Perfect drumming isolation
I got one of these only because my 4-year-old son, who also drums (on a great Gretsch Catalina Club kit), was forced to wear ear protection (thePeltor 90554 Junior Earmuff, Blue ) and I wanted him to learn by example. Surprisingly, these ear muffs really let the drum sound through (I had been using Remington shooting muffs which let nothing through). I like them so much that even when I'm practicing alone, I keep them on. Very comfortable on my big Herman Munster head, and rarely do I feel the need to remove them (unless I'm doing brush work on the drums). I recommend these without reservation. --------Update at 1 year------- Still love these things. The only time I have to move one of the ear muffs off of my ear is when I'm jamming with a bass player and guitar player, and the guitarist EQs to a lower frequency. I can still hear the drums just fine, but the bass and guitar blend in the sound spectrum, so I need to free an ear to try and catch higher frequencies. I have a friend who is a professional drummer who comes over, and I go to guitar or bass. He insists on wearing these every time he comes over, and has asked to borrow them for gigs. He's Dominican and plays with Latin bands, and finds that these isolation headphones pull his kit's sound away from the other percussion on the stage. In my studio, I sometimes need to wear headphones to absorb his heavy hitting, but then I can't hear my guitar. As such, I've had to buy another pair. Really a great investment if you need to hear what you're doing on the drums with a room of other instruments fighting for parts of the sound frequency spectrum.

Not what I hoped for
These ear defenders seemed to fit OK... They reduced sound of hi-hat and snare.. Really blockrd kick alot also cymbals... But.... The bass guitar in the band and some vocals was not reduced.. Somehow they sounded louder.. Also my 10inch and 14 inch Tom sounded boomy... I don't know why... But I can use these... If anyone has the same experience please add a remark.. I'm really disappointed as this maybe the end of my playing career if I can't find a pair that work properly.

Quality gear
My son uses these daily for drumming whilst using earplugs for backing music which he couldn't hear before getting these .

great ear defenders
My teenage son uses these while drumming. He puts his music ear buds underneath. They work really well, are comfortable and feel really good quality. Would recommend

Don’t buy them
Once you wear it they are ok the problem is to adjust them there is not stop so the ear piece keeps sliding out from the head band ....very flimsy and not fit for purpose

Good but can achieve the same result with £5 pair (DIY store)
Good but can produce similar if not exact results for a £5 job down any DIY store. Drums sounds good with them on however has made it difficult to hear other instruments in band. I use these 50/50 better than not wearing anything I guess but not overly amazed by them.
