Great as a carry-on.

Recently, I’ve had the need to regularly travel to a nearby city for business purposes. There’s a bakery in this city that has the most incredible baked goods I’ve ever come across. So I purchased this bag specifically for transporting their bakery goods back home with me. This bag fits easily in the overhead compartment on airplanes and it’s not too big and unwieldy to tote around with the shoulder strap like a messenger bag. To keep the baked goods from getting crushed, I purchased a plastic storage container from Amazon that easily fits inside the bag. It’s the biggest container I could find that fits. It goes by the title JuxYes 2-Tiers Stack Carry Storage Box With Handle, Transparent Stackable Storage Bin With Handle Lid Latching Storage Container for School & Office Supplies. This item is a double box. I only use one. For reference purposes, the container will hold 18 Kouign Amann pastries. Works perfectly!

Great weekender bag!

Upon arrival, the stitching was coming apart from multiple locations on the bag. Just be sure to inspect items clearly before using.

Excellent weekender bag to help you stay organized. Durable and very well designed.

This Vera Bradley Women's Performance Twill Lay Flat Weekender is perfect for commuting and traveling for short trips. I love the oversized messenger/briefcase style of this and the manner in which you unzip this all the way around and lay flat for ease of packing and unpacking. I also personally love the soft feel of the quilted exterior, which doesn't scuff easily and is super durable. The two mesh zippered compartments on the inside of it are surprisingly roomy and generous, allowing me to pack a significant amount of clothing in a more organized manner, without everything getting all shuffled around during travel. The zippers are excellent quality and very sturdy, and it's super easy to clean. Even though it's just a basic black color, the silver zippers are extra shiny (like chrome) and really stand out for contrast, and the quilted look gives it a more stylish flair. It's even more chic and stylish when it is unzipped, and you get peeks of the pretty floral liner inside. The design is very tasteful, sleek, and on trend. It holds everything securely while you are on the go, and I like that there's a removable shoulder strap you can use, or you can simply carry it by hand. At the same time, I love that it is so light weight despite its generous size, as well as water repellent if you get caught out in the elements. It's also easy to use in conjunction with wheel-away luggage while traveling, thanks to the trolley sleeve that you can pull a telescoping handle through (so it can sit on top of the other lugging securely while you zoom through an airport or what-have-you). As I travel often, I love all bags that include this small but very important detail. Everything about this is incredibly well-crafted and nicely designed, and despite it being able to carry a LOT, it's not too oversized or bulky for me to handle while on the go. It's built to last, and I really love everything about it - it certainly gets two thumbs up from me!

Pretty much perfect

This is the best soft sided weekender I've ever had. I've been using a Vera Bradley duffel for years, and it's been fine, but there are limitations to using a big empty space. This lay-flat, fold-open style is so useful! And, in the mix of "performance" fabric quilted black with red/pink floral print lining, it's very attractive. I really love that this fabric is not only beautiful, it's sturdy and water resistant. The usability factor, though, is most important in this weekender. On the exterior, it has two very comfortable and sturdy handles as well as a detachable shoulder strap (which I'm unlikely to ever use.) The front of the case has two zippered pockets, one large one with a dual zipper, and a smaller, but still roomy, single zipper pocket -- both are lined with that pretty floral red/pink fabric. On the back, there are two fairly shallow open pockets and a wide fabric "trolley sleeve" that slides beautifully over the extended handle of a wheeled suitcase. The case unzips three of the four sides with a dual zipper to reveal two zippered interior compartments. Here is where the magic happens. Empty, the case looks very slim. But when you start packing, you find out how amazingly expandable this weekender really is. Just keep rolling and packing -- you almost feel like you could keep on filling it and it would never complain. The fully lined compartment on the left closes with a dual zipper and has a mesh zippered pocket sewn on. The section on the right closes with a mesh dual zippered cover. So, I love this weekender so much I got the coordinating cross body bag and backpack. I think my old duffel is going to get very little use from now on.

It's well made but not as functional as I need

This is a great bag. The performance twill is nice and sturdy but still soft. The zippers are high quality and the strap that goes over a suitcase handle is nice and convenient. But, the bag itself is odd. As a weekender, it barely fits enough clothes for a weekend and has no room for shoes, hairdryer, brush, or toiletries. The bag lays flat but each side has about a 2" depth for clothes and then a zipper to keep things in place. The size of this bag seems more suited to being a briefcase with laptop and paper and books on one side and a shirt and pants for a change of clothes. I can't imagine paying the list price or current price for this. I don't think it serves a purpose as a weekender at all.

Great as a weekender bag!

I received this as a Christmas gift and I love it! I initially did not think it would fit my clothes - given it's winter and hoodies and sweats take up a lot of space - but it really does fit a lot of clothes (in the pics I have some clothes in it but I can fit double of what's there! I've read other reviews and I saw that some people think of it as more of a laptop bag but honestly unless your laptop is HUGE, I don't know why you'd use it as such. It's not shown in the stock pictures but when you lay the bag out flat, there's a compartment underneath the mesh compartment, therefore there's two spots for your clothes and one pocket for your toiletries! The two pockets in the front are also super helpful and there's quite a bit of space in them (e.g. things you'd put in your purse)! Overall love the compartments and will be great for going away for the weekend!

Love the fact that it opens like a suitcase

I have been traveling with the Vera Bradley weekender as my personal item . But wanted something that opens like a suitcase . I love the fact that is as spacious as the weekender but more versatile . I will definitely be using this on my future trips PS: one thing to note is that this one does not have a designated laptop compartment nor does it have the small passport pocket . But it has other things that I love so all good
