Great product!! I did use suggestions that helped others
I am going to explain in detail so you can understand the circumstances this of this little pup because due to our jobs he does not have the normal at home house time other pups do. Let me start by saying that my husband and I team drive (we both drive) a semi over the road, while I drive he sleeps and while he drives I sleep our truck does not usually stop. Solo drivers have a mandatory 10 hour shut down daily. With that said he is in a steady moving semi truck sometimes 24 hours a day with our (1) mandatory 30 min break each. We can not stop every 2 hours for potty breaks. We got him he was 8 weeks, could only hold it about 2 hours for his age and bladder. I got potty pads and put them down well. He peed all over the truck on my rugs and the pee pad too lol when we caught him we picked him up and put him on pad, a baby has to learn. OK then we had been out for 3 months straight so over Christmas holidays we took 6 weeks off and potty training started. I set the clock he went out to grass every 2 hours (he was 10 weeks at that point) and when he woke up and also after meals. So with treat in hand we went as soon as he pottied I gave him treat every single time around the clock, I slept thru alarm maybe 3 times it is very tiring but worth it in which I found he had climbed out of his area and pottied in front of door. I thought this was just fine he tried not his fault. He stayed mostly in a area I had blocked off size of play pen so he did not have chance to get out of site and potty if I saw him start to potty I said loud and firm no potty inside!!! Grab him and ran for door to grass if he finished outside he got treat if he got finished before I reached him well we went out but no potty grass no treat. No praise, rubs and all the good boys. I litterally watched him almost every waking hour I sat within reach of him. I only left when I had to and my husband watched him and walked him but not every 2 hours I am sure and prob didn't get a treat either lol. If he pottied inside I was not told about it and that would mean husband dropped the ball not the pup. Anyway after 6 weeks it's time to go back to work and stay in truck basically 24/7 pup 3 1/2months now can hold it for 3 to 3 1/2 hours well we can not stop constantly so I found pet loo on Amazon and read every single review and their suggestions, in my mind I was hoping he would use both, outside unless of emergency then pet looand pet loo so all that no sleep and hard work was not wasted. Well I took all the advice from different reviews I got the medium he weighed 18 pounds at vet. I bought the better grass it's soft like real grass hoping he didn't know it was fake lol. It is much heavier backing but does have drainage holes but a review said not enough of them so I took a box cutter and made many more by using the point punching thru not cutting slits. Got the apple smelling potty spray Go Here, sprayed in the middle only so all surrounding areas were if aim was for middle but little body not in midlle it would still be on the potty loo. Got a handful of grass from outside and sprinkled on the soft fake grass for real grass smell. I also got the wee care cleaner. Put powder in the container to catch urine and oder control and waited to see what happened. The first day back, we weren't in a hurry to deliver a load we stopped every 3 to 4,hours and he held it every single time one time he was in such hurry when we stopped I don't know how he held it. The potty loo was that day used to played on with his toys and he laid on it to sleep and I thought oh no glorified lounge area but still hopeful as pups do all those things on real grass. No pottying on it not 1 time but the next night we got to stop for few hours in between loads and as normal we both slept, I took him out before I went to sleep, this was in truck 48 hours by now. And I was so tired I slept with alarm set for 5 hours it was all I had and I needed it, I just knew he would not make it and for the first time since we started training I slept without setting alarm for 2 or 3 hours I needed that 5 straight through, I just knew he had went on floor while I slept. I checked his blanket the pet loo and the rugs all over and nope he did not, he was sleeping also so I figured at this age maybe that's why he held it little longer because he was sleeping. But then I had went to sleep while my husband was driving after we picked up our load and slept for prob 6 more hours I knew he stopped once for him but to my shock and surprise I just checked trey when I woke not expecting anything and oh my goodness it was a yellow spot of gel where he peed it went into the container and the powder had gelled it up. I was very happy and impressed he did it. I definitely did not want to really mess him up after all that training at home to think it was ok to potty on floor of truck even if there was a potty pad down or to confuse him after all those weeks of we can only use grass to now it is all different. And I found the potty loo and it wonderful it is very sturdy made I stepped on foot on it for step just to see it did not move or give at all. I am so thankful for all the reviews that made suggestions on what helped them, so that I got it right from the beginning. I definitely recommend this product and also adding grass they peed on is recommended and I understand why I just didn't have any when i set it up the potty loo in truck so I just got handful of real grass and it worked perfect.

Keep looking
I ordered the medium size of this product in August 2023. We live in an apartment that does not allow dogs to go potty anywhere on the grounds so we needed to find something that would allow our dog to relieve herself without having to go on a full walk. We have been using this and have very mixed feelings. Pros: -The urine being funneled into the sliding drawer is a good idea. Makes disposal fairly simple. -Our dog began using the product immediately. Very little effort was needed to train her. However, I will say we have a very easy going dog that catches on to things quickly and is incredibly food motivated. Cons: -The artificial turf began losing its "grass" from day one. -The product smells unless you use harsh bleach to clean it. The spray sold by the company does very little to nothing to clean and deodorize the product. -Being apartment dwellers, we have to carry the entire unit, minus the drawer, into our apartment to wash it down in the shower. This is a pain and leaves a mess in our shower from all the grass that is lost every time we do this. Also, it is just difficult to fit through door ways. -If this is outside and it happens to rain, be prepared for the drawer to overflow. While this is not necessarily a design flaw, it is a reality to be noted. Overall, we WOULD NOT buy this product again. We are looking for a new option mainly because of how difficult it is to keep clean and deodorized, especially now that we have had it for longer.

READ THIS!!!!!!
I have been using this for 3 years and have some suggestions. The design of the Pet Loo is awesome. I like how it is elevated and my dogs have to step up onto it to pee, thereby eliminating any half on/half off pees that pool onto the floor and spread completely under a pee pad. I like how it drains and I LOVE the WEE SPONGE that comes with the Pee Pods. It completely absorbs the pee to form literally a spongy mass. It has no odor of pee whatsoever! However if you open the pee pod it smells extremely chemically (think sharpie marker x 100!) so don't breathe it in! What I love, is that I have a 5 lb and 8 lb dog and I only need to change the Pee Pod once per month! I clean the actual Pet Loo with hot water and soap about every 4-6 months. I think it is recommended to do it monthly but I honestly don't see the need if the pee stays contained and you have no overspills. Plus it is a pain to clean bc I have the 33x33 size, the smaller size would be easier to clean. My only complaint with this product is THE GRASS!!! It's awful. It doesn't drain effectively, rather it seems to absorb a lot of the pee and ends up smelling like urine after just one week of use. I clean it (which is a treat for your nose) and without fail one week later it smells completely gross again. The pet loo spray you can buy helps, but only temporarily (and expensive).Plus when the dog jumps on it, it can shift, and so my dogs sometimes just preferred to pee on the floor next to the pet loo rather than getting up on the unstable grass. It also is not soft and plush like real grass and ends up looking real dingy. I suffered with this nasty thing for about 3 years, thinking this is as good as it will get... and then I discovered K9GRASS!!! I have been using it for 2 months and seriously K9Grass on this Pet Loo is the perfect product!! I bought the closest fitting size online (which fit perfectly when I cut it in half so now I have a backup grass for later) and it really truly drains and so there is NO SMELL!!! It is also super duper thick and plush and so my dogs LOVE to jump up on it bc it feels like real grass!! Its heavier in weight so it no longer shifts when the dog jumps on it so they aren't so unsure of it anymore. Only having it for 2 months I haven't tried (or needed) to clean it, so i might have to update the review later.. but I can tell you it is a million times better than the other nasty fake grass. It also looks a lot better, no longer an eyesore! Try the K9Grass on your pet loo, with the wee sponge (pee pods) and you will love this product!! I had to search online and buy direct from the company, It cost $131.95 (3'x5' unbound) but I cut it in half to make two 33x33, and when you consider it makes 2, its a lot better deal than the nasty pet loo grass that I had to buy a new one every year bc I got so sick of the smell...

Not the worst!
I used to use a grass patch, placed on top of pee pads for my large breed puppy. The problem was, it stunk to high heaven, and was impossible to clean. I got this as an alternate solution. Living in a high rise apartment, I like having this on the balcony so my puppy can go in and out whenever he needs to do his business. The pros: 1. If you have a routine for cleaning this, it is the least smelly option out there! Every night, I use a watering can and pour a vinegar and water solution over top of this. This means that I can go about 3 weeks without needing to THOROUGHLY wash it, and it cleans the plastic underneath it as well as the tray which means there is no smell coming from this thing. 2. The urine tray is a disaster when used on its own, BUT there's a quick, easy and cheap solution for this - newspaper litter pellets. I buy a small bag a month for 4$ and I pour the newspaper litter pellets in the urine tray instead of the questionable chemical sponge it comes with and voila - no smell, no walking to the toilet praying like crazy it doesn't spill everywhere when you're emptying it, and instead of being horrifically smelly after a day it lasts several days without needing to be cleaned out. Easy, peasy! 4. Way cheaper than puppy pads in the long run, and it looks nice on my balcony. 5. My puppy took to this immediately, without any need for teaching. Some things I listed above are partially cons with very easy solutions, so I wouldn't consider them cons so they won't be listed in the con section. The cons: 1. The clips to hold the grass in place are truly awful. They do not work well. I've yet to find a solution for this - I have to readjust a few times a week. 2. Cleaning diarrhea or really loose stools on this thing will be an absolute nightmare. I'm dreading the day this happens. But to be fair, this would be a nightmare on any artificial grass product. 3. The price. I purchased this on sale for 150$ and that is the max I'd pay for this considering its size and the future size of my dog (90lbs). I wish there was an XL. I would pay 180$ for an XL but definitely not for a large. There needs to be a larger product for dogs over 70lbs. Overall, this is the best product I've found to date to make apartment living with a balcony easy, and finally my balcony is no longer plagued with the festering stench of urine. I've got a doggy door, and my puppy just does his thing out there. It has made my life so much easier, and means that my 6 month old puppy no longer needs to be crated. His potty training has been an absolute breeze.

Read for cleaning tips
I bought this about a year ago and have finally got a handle on how to clean this properly. Firstly this is a great asset to condo living. Super convenient and I like how the pee empties into a bin at the bottom, instead of into a pad like some of the other models. I suggest purchasing a large if you have the space. It’s not that big and it’s just roomy enough for my 15 lb dog. I find that if you wait to pick up the poop - it will harden a bit and not smear into the grass pad. This makes it easier to pick up as well. I also keep a waste bin on the condo balcony with a tight seal lid to collect the poop and empty that when full. For the urine don’t even bother with the powder - simply empty out the container with the urine directly into your toilet every night. This is wayyyyyy less messy than using the powder I find. But make sure to do it daily or it will stink. To clean the porch potty I don’t bring it inside because that is so smelly and disgusting. Rather I take very hot water into a watering can (which I use to water my plants) and I pour it evenly along the grass pad. The dirty water empties into the urine basin and I empty it out after about 2-3 minutes after the water has fully emptied into the basin. I do this a second or third time and I find it does a good job in keeping the grass clean and the odours at bay. This should be done at least 1/week. It will save you lots of money as you don’t have to keep purchasing new grass pads. Do the above tips and you will be very happy and less grossed out. It was definitely a learning curve for me

Pee box smells like pee... but works as intented
The good: Product worked accurately, the liquid to attract the puppy to do his business on the box worked really well. A nice product if you live in an apartment building many floors up, as you don't need to bring the dog all the way to the street level. The bad: The absorbent powder they provide isn't nearly absorbent enough, we went through the stuff really fast and you need to keep buying more. The ugly: Face it folks, this box is going to STINK LIKE A BOX OF PEE AND POOP (amazons words not mine)...because that's what it is. No amount of cleaning will fix this. If you spend time in the vicinity of this box the smell is really bad, especially in the summer. Also, if the dogs poo is any consistency short of dry and solid, it gets smeared into the fake grass and cleaning it is difficult. Not giving this product a bad review because it did exactly what I expected it to. Just wanted to give people a realistic idea of what they are getting.

Great option for apartment/condo dwellers!
I purchased the Medium-sized turf about a month ago to replace my monthly subscription of Pooch Patch in Canada. So far so good! My dog is about 5 lbs and I'm really glad I got the medium sized turf. She has enough room to do her circles before peeing. My review is based on a month of daily pee pee use. Smell: I clean this every week. There was a very helpful comment that talks about how they use water with vinegar to rinse this so I have been doing that once a week. I also followed someone's suggestion of using cat litter in the pee catch basin -- fill the bottom with litter and replace it weekly. So far it only smells when I'm rinsing the turf with hot water and the pee smell in the basin is well controlled by the cat litter. Size: Definitely go as big as you can. My dog is tiny and I think medium is just big enough for her. Ease of use: My dog caught on to it pretty quickly. Use it right away when I brought it outside. My worry is that she would stop using it when it starts to smell (just like her Pooch Patch which required me to get the Refresh odour control). But so far so good. With the weekly cleaning that I do, she uses the turn two to three times a day to pee. The only time she won't pee on it is when she also needs to poop (I get it little princess). Overall I've been happy with this and it's been great to use this with pine pellet cat litter. My previous subscription was getting really expensive and with my recent move it has become very inconvenient to get deliveries (unit really far from lobby, deliveries come at inconvenient times for me, and garbage area is quite a walk from my unit). I'm hoping this works out for a long time for my dog especially in the winter time and that would save me about $900/year. I'll update in 6 months with and longer term review.
