nice looking item had to modifie to work for me
used it for cai for my pellet stove the metal hose came apart but since it's for intake i used 1 1/2 pvc and some fittings and made it work insulated the hole and everything is good may paint the pvc in the off season been told that this can help with stove creating negative draft and puling cold air in from outside. happy with how it turned out

Much Better Than Others, But...
Outstanding unit! Much better than others offerings which only supply you with a cheesy exterior plate, with an ugly little wire mesh screen to keep the critters out... and no interior wall plate at all. All three pieces of this unit (Interior Plate, Exterior Plate, and Critter Guard) are manufactured from a good heavier gauge sheet metal, so no issues there. The reason for my 4 Star rating deals with the other installation materials that are supplied in the kit. 1) They supply you with two flexible hoses, which is great for those who need to use both, but unfortunately they do not supply you with a coupling to connect the two hoses together... Go figure??? 2) The attachment screw kit supplied with the unit contains 8 identical sheet metal screws about 1/2" long, four of which are correct for mounting the interior plate to the sheetrock anchors (which are super duty by the way) . The exterior plate however, requires a much longer screw, since the plate itself is nearly 5/8" deep. Still an outstanding kit however, and I would certainly buy one again if the need arises.

Doest seem to do what its supposed to for my situation
I bought this item based on recommendations from stove manufacturer which is to add a source of outside air to the bottom port of my free standing fireplace as doing so was supposed to prevent smoke entry into the home. As I understand its function, My stove chimney draft was supposed to draw air from outside the home through this product thus eliminating (or reducing) smoke entry from the firebox into thte home. When I open the door I do still get smoke rollback into the home and worse yet, at times if the funace should kick on because I allowed the fire to burn down too low thus cooling off the home, It will draw smoke from pipe cracks or where ever it can draw from, not sure why. (If I have a good fire with ample draft this will not happen though) May not be the product, I know in theory it makes sense but it does not appear to be working as it should in my situation.

Worked great
So I got this to install my on my pellet stove and it worked great. It came with 2 pieces of flex hose and the only issue I ran into was in one of the reviews someone mentioned that there wasn't coupler but with a straight penetration through the wall, 1 hose was plenty

Brought it for the outside appearance
I primarily bought this because I like the appearance of the outside fixture. I would have to concur with the other product ratings in that the flex tubing was too short to be usable. I went down to the hardware store bought a 1 1/2 inch PVC coupler and a foot of 1 1/2 inch PVC to come through the wall. Once that was all installed put the outside pieces on but I did add a piece of screening to keep the bugs out since I don't use my stove much in the summertime I suspected without the screen that I'd see a parade of ants running around in my stove. Wasn't difficult to make this kit work for what I wanted but I would definitely call this kit incomplete. One other note, this is for a 3" outside air vent but opening is only 1.5" Hopefully it will work properly.

Fine Product- As advertised- but I modified it.
This product arrived promptly and arrived as advertised. The included flex pipe tears easily so I used PVC plumbing pipe elbows instead and instead of the flathead screwdriver style hose clamps I used duct tape. I also added 1" of foam board to the inside and outside of the house mounted fittings because, well, I did create a hole in my wall. I also spray-foamed all around the pipe that came through the actual wall. Works great though with my adaptations. I would have given it 5 stars if it were ten dollars cheaper, did not have those annoying flathead hose clamps, and if the flex pipe (tinfoil and wire) were of better quality. If you do use the included pipe I would put insulated pipe wrap around it because super cold air comes through it and it's paper thin.

Not worth the price
No coupler for the paper thin tubes and no screws to complete the outside. So you still need to buy supplies for the most cosmetic part. Not worth the cost or hassle.

Gets the fresh air in, needs upfitting for a fifth star.
The kit installs easily enough, quality of the steel parts is nice. The flex hose is exceptionally flimsy and a bit oversized for fitment to the intake pipes on both the stove and the through the wall tube. Hose clamps need to be cranked down very tightly to be even slightly secure. Kit really needs to include a small length of tubing ( an inch or two would be more than sufficient ) to connect both bits of flex hose... one piece will not pass through a wall AND connect to a pellet stove. Obtained a length of 2" muffler pipe and it works well as a connector.
