Does what it says on the can

These straps affix to the base of a modern flat-screen TV, making it harder to tip over. They are advertised as a childproofing product but could be useful to anybody who has a freestanding TV and is worried about tipping. They apply easily and seem to hold quite well- an adhesive pad seems like a weak bond, but keep in mind that these straps must resist pulling/dragging motions and not lifting; for this task an adhesive pad is excellent. The straps are an unobtrusive black that matches the piano finish on contemporary electronics, if your TV is in a cabinet of any kind they will pretty much disappear. Another nice thing about these straps is that, unlike some childproofing straps that can only lock down once, you can repeatedly unlock the strap from the pads so you can easily move your TV; this is a big plus for obvious reasons.

Works for glass top or cheap wooden TV stand.

They work and give me peace of mind. Easy to set up. I would not use on a piece of expense wood furniture, but on a glass top or a cheap wood tv stand absolutely. Obviously, the only way to know if they fail is if the TV falls on my son, but so far after many pushes onto the TV (no I don't let him do this) the TV has not fallen. The glue still sticks 12 months later. No complaints from me. Update: The idea of having put holes in my furniture and walls just to anchor something when my son became of cruising, pull-up, and walking stage was not only daunting, but also nerve wracking. So after I found solutions for all the heavy furniture (family heirlooms), I had one last task for the TVs. So I found these. A super strong adhesive anchoring system is what I ultimately found and it turned out to be a great investment. The two TVs that concerned me the most sat either on a cheap TV stand or one that was entirely of glass, so I was not worried to stick these on them. I can tell you that they work because I have a very high maintenance young man who gets angry very easily. More than once I've seen him try to tip the TVs out of anger, and he could not because these were holding them done. (Good thing I was on the ball!) So an accidental bump should get you through just fine. They only get four stars because I wish the straps were longer so that I could them on other things and if you need to unhook it, the straps are in really tight. Also, you can not turn the TV if the TV itself doesn't swivel. Some Goo Gone got the adhesive off the glass TV stand.

Not For Flatscreen TVs

These arrived wrapped only in a small plastic bag with a poorly photocopied one page instruction sheet. As far as I was able to tell from the flyer they are not intended for flatscreen TVs with a flat horizontal base. They specifically say they are only for "low profile" electronics and to fasten correctly they require a vertical surface, which is something our TV does not have within reach of the small straps. I'll keep them, because they're better than nothing. It will probably at least give me time to intervene before my toddler pulls the TV on top of himself. It appears stable but I'm concerned that they are not meant to be used as depicted in the product description photo for flat screen TVs.

Baby Proofing

These worked great on 2 of 3 TV/Stands. The adhesive is strong and puts my mind at ease with a 2 year old around. Although, one strap did lose its adhesive about 2 months after applying it. But that could possible be an operator error. I am not always thorough with application directions, I should have cleaned the surface better. I have bought these more than once.

Kinda pricey but worth it

We had just bought ourselves a 46" LCD and absolutely did not want to mount it on the wall. BUT we have a little girl (she was 6 at the time) that we were very worried about being near the TV. We did not have any prior experience with LCDs and the base was so small and narrow that we were sure one good accidental push from her and it'd be a goner. So anyway, we're cruising through IKEA and we see these straps holding the TVs down. They're small enough not to be a big eyesore and when we tried to wiggle the TVs they were solid. The guy at the store told us they ordered them all from Amazon and sure enough here they are. So we ordered us a set immediately. Now, we never did end up using them for our TV since it turns out our stand is actually pretty solid on its own but these really are excellent strips that will definitely not fail to secure whatever it is that needs securing.

Not the best

This product probably does what it says...it keeps things from being opened by children. However, when used to keep the freezer closed (bad seal that opened freezer when fridge door shut too hard) it was more cumbersome than useful. It keeps the freezer shut but is a royal pain to open and close...the latches are hard to open and the strap is tricky to feed back in each time. I would suggest using these straps on something that doesn't need to be opened often.

nice product

the straps aren't very good for a small tv, i used four straps for my son's room for his TV, When i pulled the tv towards me the back straps came off!! the awesome thing about the straps is that they're great for keeping cabniets closed!! since i have cabneit doors without knobs these straps work awesome!!

Good for peace of mind

We secured our flat screen TV with these straps after reading story after story of TVs falling on kids. Obviously supervision is key, but in that split second we aren't looking things can happen. We feel better knowing the TV is secured. It hasn't been tested yet (thank goodness) but at least we have something there just in case.
