Professional product if you need regular use of heat pads

I have been having lower back issues and going to PT. My physical therapist have been applying the same hit pads that come with the Chattanooga Hydrocollator but at their office they have a bigger heating unit. The humid heat from these pads have been very effective providing relief that I have decided to purchase a similar unit for home. Both my wife and I like using these pads. This unit is right size to hold enough pads for both of us to apply multiple pads which I need for my lower back, neck and leg to loosen the muscles before stretching and exercising. I also have purchased the padded terry covers from the same brand and we are very happy with them even though we need additional padding with a towel as the pads could feel too hot. The heat lasts long enough to provide relief and relax the muscles and I found the humid heat is much better than any other heat pads. Before my purchase I have read the reviews several of which complained about leaks. Having read those reviews before installing the unit I checked if the nuts were tight before filling the unit with water. Still, the drain faucet leaked as I started to fill it which needed additional adjustment. This is no big deal if you have an adjustable wrench but I would have expected better quality control for a professional product like this. Otherwise, it is a well built professional product which I have been using on a regular basis for many months and I am happy with it. I would recommend this product if you need regular application of heat pads. Please make sure you have an adjustable wrench to tighten the nuts on the unit before filling the tank fully to avoid leaks

Fantastic product

I've had the E-2 for coming up on a year now and am very happy with the product - it has been a life-saver in the winter when I need it the most. The E-2 is probably a little larger than I needed for personal use - likely the E-1 would have been fine even though I have fairly bad arthritis in much of my body from too many years of professional sports and use a number of packs at one time. If budget is an issue, don't sweat it and go with the small version and just use two smaller packs to cover your whole back for example. I think the smaller E-1 would be ideal for most home use. Any clinic serving two or three customers at a time in need of a hot pack should be fine with the E-2 just depending on how tightly your clients are scheduled. I would think a sizable chiropractic office with patients stacked up every 30 minutes might need a larger model than the E-2 than say a PT office where patients are coming on the hour. You just need 20-30 minutes for packs to heat up again. The E-1 and E-2 packages come with all the hot packs needed and any of the Hydrocollators will hold one more hot pack than advertised in my experience without any issue. Not sure if that is good for the machine or not, but I'm not worried about it. You need good ventilation in the area in which you will use the product as it puts out a decent amount wet heat. It is important to have a thermometer to keep track of the temperature or you may find you trip a breaker more than you like with modern, and in my opinion more temperamental, breakers. You will likely want to purchase the terrycloth covers; one for each size pack you get will do, but I bought two for each and have been happy to have the extras. With one terry cloth cover over the hot pack you will probably still use an extra towel when you first put the hot-pack on - at least for me, one terrycloth cover is not enough to keep from burning my skin. Speaking of which...BE CAREFUL...I overused these things when I first got them and wound up some mild burns to the skin. If you are dealing with patients using opiates or who lack feeling in the area to be treated be especially careful. Very happy overall and hope it last for years to come.

Hydrocollator review

Bought this item for my wife who has a muscle disease. Just started using it and she says the pads help with the pain in her muscles. Be careful with the temperature of the water, read the instructions and watch the videos on youtube.

Evaporation problem

Requires constant refilling due to evaporation. Lid does not seal.

Best hydoculator

This is the best one on the market and the price is very good also. I have two chiropractic clinics and these hot packs are essential for daily treatment of our patients

POOR QUAILTY, especially the lid

I've been a deep tissue massage therapist since 1998. The original Hydrocollator E-2 was a high quality product that lasted until 2017. I bought a new one in 2017 and it was obviously made with cheaper materials. The lid is poor quality - it doesn't seal well and heat escapes.

The equipment is great, but the heat packs are a problem.

Provides temporary, soothing relief from muscle fatigue and pain. I am a little disappointed because two of the heat packs have decayed and the contents are leaking. The same thing happened with my previous hydrocollator and heat packs.

Short life...4 months

I liked this machine (E-2 model) from August, 2020, until December, 2020, when it quit working. Now a lot of effort on my part to figure out how to contact seller to see how much more effort it will take to make it right.
